I am not an arts-and-crafts type person, but I do occasionally go into Michaels for miscellaneous items. The framing department does a pretty good job. But overall, my impression of this store is negative. Rarely does an employee actually make an effort to help you if you ask a question. A minimal response is the norm with vague directions on how to locate an item. If you only want a small quantity of something (i.e. 1 meter of cord off a giant roll of it), they refuse to break open the package. Why couldn't they have just one package always open to accommodate customers who don't want to spend $35 for one little piece of cord? This is called keeping the clientele happy. They do it cheerfully in the U.S. but not in Canada, where everything is done by the book and if you ask for an exception, you are treated with indifference at best and rudeness at worst. Today I was told, "We will break open the package for you to have a little piece but you will still pay us $35). Thank you for being so accommodating. Most supermarkets will let you give them one or two sprigs of parsley for weighing, and if they are too light to register, you can have them for free. This, too, is called keeping the clientele happy so that they come back another day and drop $200 on a large order.I would like to also mention that if you try to make eye contact with an employee in the store, most of them look straight through you ... or refuse to look at you at all. Well, don't let me disturb you. I will leave immediately as you clearly don't give a hoot if I shop here or not.Note: This review is for the store on West Broadway, not Riley Park

The employees here are helpful, but their stock is chaotic. They are often sold out of things like knitting & sewing needles. Paints are sold in a lot of different parts of the store. Just needs to be better organized.

Opened a line for preferred customers.I was next in line to make an exchange on a defect tube of oil paint. The new self-checkout kiosks only leave 2 remaining traditional cash registers but only 1 is open. Kaylee (employee) arranged to open the second till and ushered the regular/known customers to make their exchanges. They were on a first name basis. As a customer, I was next in line to be assisted but this location treats customers unequally. You will have a good shopping experience at this locatiom if you are a regular customer and on a first name basis with the employees.

Just had the most lovely experience with Priscilla who helped me cut some fabric. She ran around the corner seconds after I hit the service button with a huge smile. She was so funny and is the best Michaels customer service I have experienced! I wish you a great day, you cheered me up!

Place has really gone down in terms of customer service. I try to place orders online to avoid how crazy the store is, but my order is lost nearly every time. It’s all self checkout when you shop in store and self serve for online pickups, which means no security and anyone can take your paid for items. No personal touch and staff seem very overwhelmed and unhelpful. Always a chaotic zoo when I go in. Bring back cashiers you can ask questions to!LOL I have edited to show the felt they filled my order with, covered in lipstick?

I have a love/hate relationship with this Michaels. The staff are always extremely friendly and helpful, and there are always good deals on loads of different things (if you're happy to go looking). However, I find the paint section always really badly stocked. The brush selection looks so empty and the acrylic colours are never fully stocked. I kinda know if I go in here with 5 things in mind, they will probably only have 2-3 things in stock. They have updated their cashier system to self check-outs. This is helpful as there was always a long queue and only 1-2 people on tills. But I hope this isn't their way of getting rid of loads of people! The staff are one of the reasons I go back here! ?

Many empty shelves & low stock on products. Almost all self checkout, while sometimes this is convenient, many of your clientele seems to struggle with it & it’s inconvenient not to be able to do returns at same time. There are always at least 2 employees standing there explaining the queue and machines to people! Might just be easier for them to be cashiers!

They have almost all self check out stands, the one active check out they make you stand in front of the online order cupboards and a staff opens and closes them constantly making you move or you get hit with the doors. I work there and there's no discount for doing my own purchasing. No cashier means no jobs, no social programs, no Canada Pension plan. Another place I won't shop. Saving lots of money.

Honestly the worst michaels in the province. Their Halloween section is always so garbage because they put the bare minimum out compared to the rest of the stores. Now self check outs?!! I waited 15 minutes to see an actual person because they only had one girl on and there was a huge line behind me waiting to do the same. Plus so many workers losing out on jobs. I literally travel to the north van to avoid this store.

I used to love it here, but their new self-checkout set up has me feeling violated. I'm not even one of those people who cares all that much but they have two cameras on you. One right in your face, webcam style and a second aimed at the side of your body so it can watch you scan. If that wasn't bad enough, they have those up on the screen so you can watch them. Who knows what else it catches when you open your purse or wallet. Seeing the side of my body while I'm checking out is disturbing and not just because I got junk in the trunk.Note to self: bring cash next time you come here or refuse to use the video cameras.I won't stop shopping here but I will just be selective on where I check out.

Less and less staff every time I get there. The checkout is now almost completely self-serve and the shelves are half empty. Feels like the owner just keeps it open until it gets redeveloped. Nothing like what it was a few years ago. Parking underneath costs 3.50/h and the self checkout has no obvious button to reimburse. Think twice before you come here.

Great store, large selection of things. We were lucky and came at the time they had things restocked. Prices were average not to expensive but not cheap. Sign up for their mailing list to be a member and very worth it when you get 30-50% off coupons.

Staff stalking me as if I was going to shoplift. Very uncomfortable! It was difficult trying to pay since I did not want self checkout. The one cashier said she would get into trouble if I didn't use the self checkout. I told her that I preferred to deal with a person. I can't believe management would get her in trouble because I preferred a real person over self checkout.Definitely not coming back here to shop.

A colorful and beautiful store for art supplies, parties, baking and more. They sell fabrics, wool, stickers, paints and all craft supplies.

This place is great ?? for art ??? ??? and crafts. And they have a wide variety of different supplies for different crafts and they have events and activities there too. I think ? they also have kids parties available there but I’m not sure what they have available for that option but I saw ? the flyer near the cash register. They also have good prices and good quality items. They even have a rewards system that they didn’t have before so that’s cool ? I can’t wait for next time I go there and see what else I can get for doing crafts and having fun doing them ?
