This Independent grocer (Miller’s independent grocer) is a nice place to do a quick grocery shop at Superstore prices. They have all typical grocery sections. I like how they are showcasing small BC businesses. Staff is always friendly and helpful. Store is clean and tidy. Food is fresh. There is plenty of parking although parking lot can be busy and spaces are tight. If you’re willing to walk there’s free parking also on side streets but it is a bit of a walk.

Cheap, shabby, seedy atmosphere, coupled high prices. Pay 30% to 40% more than Walmart for the same stuff.Lots of older people live in the Champlain area; you always see elderly people with mobility issues in the plaza and this store. They know that those people can't easily go elsewhere, so they rip them off.Even the name is a scam. This outlet is not "independent" in any sense. It proudly displays the Loblaws nested L logo, and carries tons of PC™ brand stuff.

They RANDAMLY chose customers to carry out bag checks which is not legal. I don’t know what criteria they are using. I have a disability which makes walking unsteady. They make up their own rules when it comes to bag search.I escalated to a guy named Shaun who calls himself manager thinks he is a big shot, was rude & unprofessional demanded that they have the right to search customers bags. If you are checking, you have to check everyone with bags otherwise it is discrimination. Please be on alert. You might be next.

Good place to go and prices are reasonable. Slightly a bit more than superstore but their sales are good

The good thing is, going there takes only two short rides from Vivian Street.

I'm generally underwhelmed by this store's selection and prices. The produce section in particular is a lot more expensive than other stores in the area, and it's often out of stock on items I buy frequently. Most egregious, though, is the spice section. When I first moved to the neighborhood, it was okay, but it seems like they stopped restocking all but the most basic bulk spice. You can only get things like paprika and cayenne here in bottles, and for 10x the price/weight ratio of the refill bags.I only ever come here to buy dairy items anymore, because it's slightly cheaper than 88 Supermarket and slightly closer than Save On. If I need more than dairy or a good selection of western items, I'll drive a bit further to avoid this place, and if I just need meat and produce I'll go to 88.

Went to this store for the first time last week and was very impressed. The store is bright and clean and the shelves are better stocked than any other store I have shopped in in the last year. Prices are competitive

It's my local place and I'm glad for it. Sure the prices are sometimes beat by bigger stores but they make up for that with lovely staff, well stocked shelves and a comfortable experience. Very happy with Miller's YIG as my go to grocer.

WARNING: If you want weevils infesting a box of your cereal, then step right up folks, because Miller's Independent will be at your service....for bugs!Bought a box of Weetabix on Sunday, noticed a few bugs in the kitchen area later that evening (cereal is in a cupboard in the kitchen) and I honestly just thought they were fruit flies...but then noticed, "hey, they don't fly around!".Come Monday morning, noticed a whole bunch more - then we found the culprit - the NEW box of Weetabix had weevils all over the outside...so I opened it up (box was sealed/closed at this point) and the 2 individual packets were full of weevils. Infested. Dead weevils. Not only that, but somewhere along the line, someone had actually taped up the packet from being opened (don't even ask me who would've done this...I have no idea. Factory worker? Someone in the store and then they just sealed the cereal box back up?).I don't find weevils to be that gross, I was more concerned at the disgusting fact that someone had the audacity to seal up an opened packet of Weetabix and think placing it back in the box to seal and sell would be a good idea.Anyways, this sorta thing leaves a bad taste in your mouth. We live in the River District and don't mind coming here for a few "here and there" items, but Jesus Christ. A Monday morning shouldn't entail in you having to pull everything out of your cupboards to kill weevils when you have to start work right after dropping your kid off at daycare. So we went back Monday afternoon and got a refund - I should've pushed them in refunding us our entire grocery bill from the previous day. But my wife didn't want me to get too harsh with them. I understand that it's possibly not THEIR fault... but some dolt along the line felt it was okay to tape back up an opened individual packet in a cereal box. And when I say the packet was infested...it was infested. Dead weevils. Dried up dead weevil corpses that reminded me of Egyptian mummies. And that's not all folks, we have spent the last 2+ days just finding one here and one there. Vinegar spray and soapy water has helped (vinegar I'm thinking is the better choice) and bay leaves/garlic cloves (though they are just a deterrent and not a permanent solution). In the end, I should've just asked for a complete bill refund (not just on the cereal) and asked for them to pitch in a packet of bay leaves, some garlic, sani wipes/spray and a bottle of vinegar. Because I tell ya, it's a long process in clearing out every shelf/cupboard when this happens...especially when you have work to do, dinner to cook, and a baby to care for. What an absolute joke of a store.I would say at this point, we've probably killed around 50 live weevils in our kitchen area. Those suckers get in anything containing paper/cardboard so check all of our paper products surrounding the area.

As a grocery store Miller's Independent Grocer is reasonable - probably closer to a 4 star rating. The prices are a bit more expensive than superstore, but the selection of goods is decent for the size of the store. The pharmacy is what deserves this 2 star rating...maybe worse. It's really terrible. I had to pick up medication for my 2.5 year old last year and my GP called the pharmacy several times and no one picked up (the site clearly indicated the pharmacy was still open for another hour). We had to call into a different pharmacy to have the prescription filled. Then we dropped off a medication for her several months later (because this location is convenient for us). At time of pickup the next day we discovered they hadn't even mixed the medication for her so we had to wait. Then they gave us a syringe so we could give her the proper dosage, but the syringe didn't fit the bottle of medication! A month ago we needed an ointment for my daughter so I asked my husband to go to a different pharmacy to have it compounded. He forgot and dropped it off here again for convenience. And AGAIN it was not ready for pickup and we had to wait for them to compound it (2 days after they said it would be ready!). In fact I'm not convinced the medication was properly mixed into the ointment because the consistency is uneven. It's really the worst pharmacy experience I've ever had. I guess at least we eventually get the correct medication, but I would strongly recommend going to a different pharmacy whenever possible.
