Amazing service! The wonderful gentlemen (sorry, I did not catch your names) at the back of the shop were so nice and helpful.I brought back a pen for an exchange because it was giving me quite a bit of feedback when writing. I was given the opportunity to test some other nib sizes and talk to the staff to learn more about my preferences. Both men were very patient despite me being new to the hobby, and were comfortable to talk with. I was able to exchange my TWSBI Eco EF with an TWSBI Eco Italic with no problems at all.The shop and the staff are wonderful and I will surely come back.

First time in the store today. Beautiful store and lovely staff. Had a blast talking about time travel, cave art, and tattoos (sorry i didnt get the staff member name), and it was the best part of my day. Excited the store carried the Blackwing pencils (and the special Chuck Jones set to boot!!!). The assortment of inks when first entering the store was like a rainbow of colours I had never seen before. Thank you for a wonderful time. Will return for sure.

First time in the new location, wonderful service from Sunshine. Very informative and honest about their suggestions. They also offer gift wrapping which made things extremely convenient for me since I shopping for a gift. Lovely people here.

I wanted to give a shout out to Shannon at the Vancouver Pen Shop who recently adjusted the nib on a MontBlanc pen that I bought some years ago. I feel as though Shannon has given me a brand new pen! It's now my go-to pen, no longer sitting in a drawer because it didn't feel quite right. Thank you, Shannon, for your time and amazing skill. Excellent knowledge and service always at this fine shop!

I have been going to the Pen Shop for many years. I love looking at the new fountain pens and the new merchandise. I really appreciate how warmly the staff greet and help you. My favourite person in the shop is Shannon. Not only is she knowledgeable, she is lovely. I really look forward to going to the store and adding to my collection. They have a much better selection of pens than the other shops in town, and if they don’t have it, they’ll order it for you.

Just popped into the store for the first time, hoping to grab Kaweco cartridges and sport clips. The two older ladies at the front of the shop did not even acknowledge me when I came in, not even a simple hello or welcome in. They continued to chat to each other for the entirety of my visit. Luckily, there was a lovely gentleman working in the back half of the store that cheerfully helped me find what I needed. He was shortly, and very publicly, berated by what I presume to be the owner of the shop. This could have definitely been a private conversation, instead the owner chose to embarrass her lovely employee in front of me and another customer. Her attitude is awful, and now looking through these other reviews, I’m not the only person who’s experienced this. Why run a store if you cannot provide decent customer service, or properly discipline your employees with respect. You are entitled, I’m sorry for your employees, and I will be taking my business elsewhere. The one star is for the nice gentleman who helped us in the back.If you want a luxury stationary store with GOOD SERVICE, go to Charal’s on Robson. Have never gotten bad service there. In regards to your response, how could you not notice me come in when it’s a pretty small shop and there was only one other customer there? I also never mentioned any yelling. As for bad days and bad reviews, those are inevitable, but you could do the store the minimum service of helping customers.

In a time where corporate branding promotes a commodified experience that exudes sameness I am writing this to celebrate the independent Vancouver Pen shop that is as unique and a joy as its succinct name suggests. Every pen is available to be held and tested. Every ink to be dipped and drawn. Every question to be patiently answered. I have been a client for over 20 years and see it as the zenith of a trip downtown. Staff have been there for as long as I can recall so there is institutional memory regarding brands , service and longevity of products. Highly recommended to visit if you want to experience shopping and customer care the way it “used to be” and still is.

A great place to start your sustainability journey, because you can buy a pen with refillable cartridges for as low as $5. I love the fact that this place stuck around, just moved around a couple of blocks. I had a mixed feeling from staff, but making a nice convo at a cashier made me feel generally good.

Shannon spent an entire hour with me, helping me choose my new fountain pen, and teach me how to look after it. Everyone at the store was very friendly, and I received attentive, patient and exemplary service

People there are simply helpful, resourceful and the friendliest. When I bought a fountain pen as gift for clients, they knew how to help me look more presentable without spending over my expectation. When I just bought a converter, they would make sure it was the right one even if it was not from the same brand to match! Best of all, no matter how much you are going to spend, they treat you the same. Love this store! Photo was taken from the last time I visited their previous location. Have so much fun there.

What a great shop! I had a very pleasant experience here yesterday when buying my first (non-disposable) fountain pen. I was met with a warm greeting by a very patient and knowledgable sales associate who helped me determine the right fit for me. I must have been there for over an hour trying out different recommendations and scribbling away, but not once did I feel rushed or pressured to make a purchase. In fact I was even guided to select a pen at a lower price point then I had initially proposed, as it was a good value for quality option, very refreshing to not be upsold.Thank you very much for your patience, honesty and professionalism, I will be back!

Went in while visiting from out of town. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable. They let me try many pens and were patient with me. No pressure to buy. I ended up purchasing a beautifully smooth medium nibbed Waterman Emblème and cute cat pen stand. I had complete confidence in what I chose, and the store is a little gem. Good deals of good quality items too. Highly recommended and I will be a patron again gladly.

Gayle rolled her eyes as I spied the Pen Shop as we were walking back to our Hotel from the waterfront. I collect pens and admit that I have too many. But what's one more? The Pen Shop has a nice selection and over a range of cheap to affordable to maybe I need a payment plan. Store staff were helpful, non-intrusive, and funny. I ended up with a $9 Caran d'Ache ballpoint and an $10 Shaeffer ballpoint. Both are handy pens that work well, and didn't raise any Gayle alarm bells when I decided to buy them. The more expensive pens sometimes need to bought with a little more discretion. :)
