Unfortunately I have to do the inevitable and give them a 1 star review. They do try very hard to please but not able too. Mainly the staff they hire are not to the par! I don’t like to use more accurate word like incompetent! Their app is bad their policy restrictive. We dealt with them for 20 years but with great agony. I made the change. Wealthsimple is Canada’s best. Try them out

I am utterly shocked at the Canadian Banking System, even more so with credit unions. I am not trying to brag or gloat but my net worth is considered to be in top 1% of Canadians which I am grateful for. Steve Nash, who I played basketball with and know (his father was manager of this branch), both would shake their heads in disbelief. I came in to cash a $5000.00 dollar cheque, but they wouldn’t allow me to do so for reasons of incompetence. To all the young people out there, the market is ripe for disruption. EQ bank cashed my cheque and they are entirely online.

Worst atms in Canada. Machines that look and feel like they’re from the 70s are sooooo slow, sometimes they just cancel your transaction and u have to restart. One time it just canceled my transaction and didn’t give me my card back; I couldn’t get back during the banks open hours to retrieve it until a week later and of course they have a policy where they have to destroy the card after a day…. It’s just so ridiculous

I haven't had any issues with the staff of this branch specifically but CSS's terrible online banking support is reason enough to take business elsewhere.

Everything is great with coast until you need any assistance, then its hopeless. We have made appointments with advisors at this branch, brought in our questions about services and costs been told we will here back from them and then never called or emailed multiple times.

I was a customer of Coast Capital for almost 15 years. I've never had any issues with the banking I did over the years with them when I had a chequing and savings accounts. Any time I dealt with the tellers they were all pleasant and helpful. After I was terminated from my job and tried to complete my pension paperwork is when I ran into issues with an advisor Alex Shannon. I was dealing with family emergencies and personal hardship and this bank made everything more difficult and the advisor never completed the paperwork the company needed. I wanted to deal with another advisor after he accused me of trying to get away with something when I asked him about financial hardship and accessing my income but when I called the customer number the rep said I had to complain to a supervisor. When I talked to the supervisor, Tyler, it was pointless, he said I had to finish the application with Alex because he had started it. It was four months back of forth where I had to keep reaching out to Coast Capital and the pension company. Many times at my wits ends dealing with the bank and pension company, I had to go in person to the bank because I wasn't getting any answers. When one of the payments was issued the bank then put me through to another advisor to go over where to invest because it was invested into an account I didn't want. The other advisor was much better to deal with but at that point after spending months back and forth trying to find out what was going on with my application and why the payments weren't being made only to be told by the pension company that they never received the forms they needed and that no one had reached out to them for help with completing the forms I had had enough. I was still waiting for the other pension payment after all that and when it finally came it also wasn't paid correctly and was taxed heavily because they didn't get the paperwork they needed. I think it's despicable that someone can accuse a customer of trying to get away with something when it turned out that it was the bank that hadn't even sent the paperwork needed and was telling me they had when they hadn't, giving me the runaround and putting me in a third party position to follow up with the pension company who was also terrible to deal with, at a time of hardship. I ended up closing all of my accounts, including chequing and savings, and going to another bank. Coast Capital used to be great to deal with but maybe it's not for investments that can be mismanaged and put you in a harder place than needed at a time when you really can't afford it. I ended paying more in taxes, transfer fees and stress dealing with the bank and pension company, and no one ever apologized. They say they're a credit union but they're all the same now. They couldn't care less as long as they get your investments.

The Coast Capital branch on Shelbourne has by far the worst customer service! The bank teller (Nancy) was absolutely terrible to deal with. My wife and I now go to the oak bay branch because of the extremely poor customer service.

I had the pleasure of experiencing Reshma's excellent customer service at the bank, and I must say, it was truly exceptional. From the moment I walked in, she greeted me with a warm and welcoming smile, immediately putting me at ease.Reshma's knowledge and expertise were evident as she patiently answered all of my questions and guided me through the banking process. She took the time to understand my needs and offered tailored solutions that were both efficient and effective. What truly stood out, though, was Reshma's unwavering patience and her ability to make me feel like a valued customer. She went above and beyond to ensure I left the bank with a sense of satisfaction and confidence in my banking decisions.Reshma's professionalism, dedication, and genuine care for her customers make her an invaluable asset to the bank. I left with not only a positive banking experience but also a deep appreciation for Reshma's outstanding service. I highly recommend her to anyone seeking top-notch customer service at the bank. Thank you, Reshma, for your exceptional assistance!

Every time I have to go to this location, or really any Coast Capital location, the line is always very long to see a teller and they at most have 2 tellers working at a time. Seems to be very understaffed. There also should be more options at the ATM, such as taking out cash other than $20 bills.

I've used Coast Capital since I was a child, nearly 20 years. I used Coast for my day-to-day banking that entire time. Thousands of dollars go through my account every month. My father and grandfather both used this location. But Coast Capital flat out denied me a line of credit because I run my own business.2 decades of banking thrown away.Their team was completely unhelpful.I own a home, a car, and other investments. I have a good income. And I've banked with this company for my entire adult life - and despite that they refused to work with me.Joke of credit union.

Finally left Coast Capital after banking with them for nearly 10 years and being sick of the issues and not being valued. They were always so quick to point fingers despite having a lot of problems. Their staff in person were usually friendly , but the banking services were poor, so I gave two stars instead of one.
