I was rudely, backhandedly accused of stealing and then followed. I hate to write bad reviews as i often shop at this store for the pen packs they sell as they are very smooth for notes and my art. However, it is too often that i am accused of stealing without any actual evidence.
I walked into the store today with two of my friends after a shopping spree we had been on, when we entered the store the security buzzer went off. This didn’t seem a problem to me as it hadn’t happened at previous stores with the same buzzers and these buzzers often glitch. To clarify - I had nothing in my bag purchased with a security tag and when exiting the buzzer did not go off.
Now immediately after entering i made a comment on how it buzzed and how it was odd. I was met with a female presenting worker with brown hair and bangs. She commented on how i may have something that set it off and how i should go back and remove the tags, i gladly honestly explained i had only purchased underwear on sale that didn’t have any form of security on it. Now at this point i gave that amount of uncomfortable information due to being met by her in an aggressive and confrontational manner. After i gave more than necessary information to make the worker feel comfortable I was extremely uncomfortable and unwelcomed. Immediately the worker very indiscreetly told other workers to watch out for me which consisted of: another with bangs i believe and one with a pixie cut. They then watched us around the store i kinda just wanted to leave at this point.
At the end of my experience just as i’m deciding if i should buy more of my pens, the secondary worker with bangs very obviously tells an older women with white hair to watch me, she then directly approaches me to ask if i need help. I said no and left. All three workers then watched me leave and not let off the buzzer once more. This was extremely discriminatory and unnecessary i will not be returning and I’ll find my pens online.
More than disappointed in my once favourite local lifestyle store.

I popped in here yesterday with my friend and I must say that it's such a charming place. Wonderful staff and an enjoyable experience. Got some lavender lotion which I'm excited to put on. I'll be back again. :)

Walking around and found this awesome store. They have very nice stuff and some super funny items. We had the best time here. The customer service was also wonderful!

My favourite downtown shop for everything 'fabulous'. The store offers a fantastic offering of products to choose from. I have found my favourite linen clothing here; wonderful gifts for clients and treats for myself. This is a must visit shop!

This is a lovely store with lots of great home goods, clothing, jewelry and other fun finds. The customer service is also superb. I purchased a snow globe that ended up not working a few days after. The store manager, Ila was quick to help me — no questions. She simply said, “I will take care of you”. She did the return over the phone (very nice of her to save me a trip to the store) and asked me to discard the broken product. She also emailed me the receipts to verify the return. I have shopped at Fan Tan Home & Style regularly over the years and never had the need to make a return, but it’s great to know you will be taken care of when you have to. Sincere thanks Ila.

Love this store. I stop in every time I'm downtown just to view the treasures. Yesterday I found a beautiful tea towel with kitty cats on it and a beautiful pair of earrings. Kim was very friendly.

I am in Calgary, and ordered some Jelly Cats for Christmas. When the post-office lost the package, Ila at Fan Tan made up for their mistake and went above and beyond. If I could give 10 stars I would!

Looooove this store so much! It has so many beautiful treasures, decorations and knickknacks, especially for Christmas, and lots of unique and fun gifts for every age: socks, jewellery, candles (including Frasier Fir), housewares, toys and games, decor, ornaments, teddies, kitchen textiles, and on and on. I could go broke shopping here!
