After 8 vž xzyears with this bank and no issues, I decided to close my accounts. I was told my Branch 67 (downtown Doigkas St.) This manager vehemently denied that I couldn't close my account. After a week of 3 of going back and forth with customer service and anyone why would answer I get to said manager. There we had a 30-40 min call about how she can and will not close my account. My last resort was to mention I spoke to a lawyer and asked them in she could force me to leave it open, the lawyer laughed and said “no way can Vancity do this and soon as she heard this she suddenly had a change of heart and closed it on the spot. Though I still get an invoice each month. I'm much happier with my new bank. So happy to be freed from an account I opened!!!! Never got my cheque for my shares. Lol I wanted to frame it as a funny reminder.

Regarding the location only (Not VanCity as an institution) - terrible location in terms of access, previous location on Fort right on the new bikeway, this location Not. No ATM outside of branch hours, again because of the location, old rundown unattractive building.

The current VanCity ad campaign theme during COVID-19 is “open is a good thing” BUT their downtown Victoria location is “temporarily closed”!! I thought an ethically based entity like Vancity would recognize the importance of that branch to the health and vitality of a central business district. And their action forces the many nearby residents to drive or bus to the suburban branches that remain open. Hypocrisy!

Unfortunately my experience at vc was hampered by my tattoos so I recommend covering them up if you go in there or you like to be treated like a normal human being kids.

I dont even usually post reviews on here but I was treated so RUDELY when I went in there simply to deposit a cheque today AS A MEMBER too. I've never been made to feel as terrible as these folks made me feel somewhere as a customer- let ALONE at my own bank. Thats pretty bad. My home branch is the one by Mayfair and that's a bit of a trek for me since I live right downtown but I guess I'll be making it since I will never go in here again. If they weren't so great at my home branch I would consider closing my accounts here. If you like customer service or being treated with just basic human respect don't go here.Absolutely pathetic.
