The shop, in particular, the shelves and their artifacts and placement, will likely drive any sane person to a mad house. However, like the majority of us fine folks, one may find it rather enchanting. The guy running the shop likes his chatter and is always happy to find you whatever you want. I'm only giving it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️'s because I do find his 💲💲💲's of glazes to be quite high. Trust me, I've bought uh-lot-ta glazes over the past couple of years. A few bucks more goes a long way.

The place smelled so badly of cigarette smoke that my partner couldn't stay in the store with me longer than a minute. It was very messy. Based on the reviews I made sure to not talk to the owner much because I'm relatively new to pottery but somehow he was still condescending and grumpy. Saying hi with his back turned, slamming down the brushes when I asked for one. I heard him talking to a really sweet customer who was planning to make her son something futurama related cause he liked the show and the owner basically said "that show isn't cool anymore", she asked "what is?" and he said, "idk, newer ones. I don't watch cartoons". It's a bummer and I don't know why people like this are in retail, I don't want to hate on someone who clearly has some stuff to work out but if you are someone sensitive at all to smells or how other people treat you or if you're new to pottery don't go to this shop unless you have to.

Wow, so rude and condescending. Based on the mixed reviews, I am guessing he maybe has a bit more respect for experienced potters, but is very belittling of new ones. I look forward to never going back into that store that reeks of cigarettes and pretentiousness.

i’ve been to this store a few times now and almost every single time i’ve come the owner has been absolutely belittling potters, especially those who are seemingly ‘new’. You can give people tips and info without being rude and condescending. Everyone i’ve heard him talk to he speaks with such aggression for absolutely no reason. If you only want to deal with potters who are perfect don’t run a store where you’re gonna meat novices. I cant mentally stand coming to this store and interacting with the owner anymore so I will be purchasing all my supplies online from here on out.

I consider myself new to pottery, Vic Clay Art was recommended to me by an established artist-potter. I am happy to purchase glaze, tools, a variety of clay, as well as have my work fired here.
As an introvert, I enjoy chatting with Dan. He's very knowledgeable and I always leave feeling positive & motivated to create. I appreciate how Dan has created a chill & unpretentious space for artists & hobbyists alike on the island.

Very smoky inside (Like perhaps they are smoking in the store) even the window are so dirty of smoke staining you can barely see through them. Shop is very crowded and and shop workers were talking with very vulgar language when they knew I was shopping in the store. After I left my clothes smelled so badly of smoke I had to change.

Extremely rude and off putting over the phone. Do not go if you are a new potter, find another establishment. Or atleast be prepared for that kind of experience
