Bought a bike from this bike shop brand new and came back in bc I had a problem with the bike and the mechanics didn't want to fix my bike issue. I took it to a bike store in Berkeley and they fix it right up. The bike was still in what they call lifetime warranty. I'm guessing they didn't wanna work on it for free.

I took my Specialized gravel bike to this shop to get -the handlebar, stem and tape replaced -the front derailleur replaced -the crankset and bottom bracket replaced. This was just labour - I sourced all the parts. I'm going to try to give a factual account of what happened. My rating will speak for itself. On the handlebar and tape install, they left a large and unsightly loop of deraillaur cable on the left side. They could have pulled it through or trimmed the housing in the rear to avoid this. On the front derailleur install, I immediately experienced chain drop on the downshift. I brought the bike back and all they did was move the lower limit way out. Solved the chain drop, but introduced rub. No effort to find a happy medium. On the crankset and bottom bracket, they used an incorrect spacer set-up even though all necessary spacers were provided. The crankset came loose on the second ride. (This is a supposedly pro shop we're talking about.) I took the bike back and they installed a crankset spacer that didn't sit flush with the bottom bracket dust cover on the non-driveside. They could have used one of the many bottom bracket spacers I gave them, which would have been compatible with the dust cover as they came with the BB. The bottom bracket is marketed as compatible with the crankset, so there must be a way to make it work. They made no effort to call the bottom bracket manufacturer to ask for advice. I have had to take the bike to a different shop to get the latter two problems fixed. It's going to cost me at least another $100 on top of the $250 I already spent with Alameda Bicycle. Draw your own conclusion.

George and the rest of the Alameda Bicycle team are phenomenal. Alameda Bicycle maintains a fantastic selection of bikes for people of all ages and riding styles. They also have an unmatchable selection of top-tier bike accessories that is very well maintained. My only criticism is that their store is so nice that it can be almost intimidating to walk in, but their staff is there to help make your experience perfect.

I wanted to like this place so much but I was disappointed by the attitude of some of the associates. This is what happened. 1. As an adult, I taught myself how to ride a bike using a junior bike. When my junior bike, which was only one size down from an adult bike, had a punctured tube, I brought it in for repair, the sales associate helping me told me that my bike was a child's bike. Wow, like I didn't know that it was 2inches smaller than what I needed? Thanks, not condescending at all. The mansplaining said it all. Then, said associate starts to sell me on the bikes starting at $500. Thanks... I'm sure that I needed a new bike at that very moment. Let's turn this $30 experience into a $500+ experience all in one afternoon. 2. Later on last year when I graduated to an adult bike, my friend gave me his sister's old bike which was bought from this place. The sales associate said that I'd still qualify for free tune ups. But this year, when I checked on it... Apparently, this no longer applied to my bike. So y'all... If you ever buy a bike here and gift it to someone, just know that your recipient does not qualify for that life time tune up. Different feedback from different associates. Maybe the one that mansplained to me mentioned in 1 above can explain to you why your gift won't have this perk. 2 stars for getting my tubes fixed in 10 minutes with no online appointment

"You matter." That's what "George" said as I left Alameda Bicycle. I dropped by to have my 2014 Trek road bike safety checked and perhaps serviced. I had not been on it since last April. George, somehow remembered me from a few years ago and offered to take the bike back for an assessment. When completed he advised me on a course of action to get me back on the road. George was professional, forthright, honest and friendly. It was a great customer service experience. I highly recommend George and Alameda Bicycle for all of one's cycling needs.

Ordered a bike frame with them in store, was told they would contact me when the frame came in and I could pick my components. I didn't hear from them for 3 weeks so I called. They had incorrectly written down my contact information, didn't order the frame they told me they could order, and told me they could not order the frame for me anymore because it was discontinued. Will likely never come back and will actively endorse friends to go somewhere else if they are looking for a shop to go to.

Just bought a bike from here. George was incredibly helpful, so knowledgeable and above all, made me feel so good about going home with the bike in the correct size. This place has such small sizes, for a 5’2” woman it was perfect!

What sets Alameda Bicycle apart from other bike shops is the friendly service. From working with you to find the right bike to helping with accessories to after-market service, all the peeps at AB are super friendly and knowledgeable. I've purchased several bikes here over the years and have always been impressed with their service. I just brought in a 20-year-old bike for service and they fixed it right up. Rides like new.

Lovely bike shop. Brought my Surly in for an annual tune up, new bar tape. Ended up spending more than I wanted, but they did a great job. Very communicative, timely. Friendly folks. Neighborly vibe. I like that in a bike shop. Can't tell you how many bike shops I've walked into and have walked right out because of bad service/attitude. They also have a huge selections of bikes. Two thumbs up!

Possibly crooks. Because I have no proof, I can not say for sure. But my spidey senses tell me these humans are creating work for themselves. Instead of waiting and allowing for the work to come to them, they are either being reckless, careless, or smh intentionally brutalizing the bikes. My bike needed, as it constantly does (purchased from here in '17) over the years, a new tube for the tire. Don't get me started on this "lifetime warranty" bs. Always $30 per tire. I come back because of George and this "lifetime warranty." The warranty made me feel I was saving to return only to them. I end up losing way more with them. I have never had an issue outside of my tires. Now, my bike is clicking something to do with my left gears, and I had to purchase a new seat. I wish Alameda Bicycle well, but the trust is decimated and destroyed. A good rule of thumb moving forward is to video record and photograph your bike thoroughly before allowing them to service it. I wish you all the best, but you marked me because I was nice. You took advantage of my kindness, and it's your loss. Thanks for the lesson. Two stars for the lesson, and George! Good luck, and GOD bless AB.
