They have a great variety of products ... I love going here because I usually find everything I'm looking for, without the crowd ...Yes, because it's a mom/pop store, I pay a lil bit more but it's worth the convenience of great parking, no crowd ... and at the end of it all, I only paid $3 to $5 more then going to a big store ...

Big store that's packed with items. Most of what you'd have at a grocery store + a liquor store + convivence store. Super convenient.

Fast and friendly neighborhood market. Personable and welcoming. Always good when you need something in a pinch

The only issue I have is there is always ice inside the bags of frozen veggies. I think this has something to do with the temp in their freezer. Otherwise this store is convenient for me to walk to. My doctor has mandated a 20 minute walk daily. It is exactly 10 minutes each way from my house. So I get groceries and excersise every time I visit the store.

After 15 years of coming here and several owners I think I am officially out. Just watched the guy stocking the fresh produce with his bare hands, blow his nose in a small used tissue and continued to handle the veggies with his snot covered hands. Two separate times. Gross!!! Not to mention the prices have gotten crazy out of hand. And half the items are not pieced so you don't know the level of gouging until you go to check out. I used to do 80% of my grocery shopping here. So they are missing out. Yup! I am officially out. Taking my business elsewhere.

Ugh I wanted to like the new owners but their practices are horrific. Old soft vegetables, meat products that are expired, old chocolate that is discolored. They ask snap customers to pay for bass tho they are free. Shelves of empty and missing items

The best wind and spirits selection on the island ( maybe in the Bay ) is a very clean and convenient spot to get groceries, too!

Located diagonally across from st joeseph, has its own small parking section, has a hot food section, very clean inside and friendly owners/staff.walked over on sunday morning and got small food from the hot food section, they kindly warmed it up for me to make it nice and hot. they have a few condiments there as well if you need.selection is nice, and it is a tier higher than other similar markets/liquor stores found throughout alameda.

I have lived near the Chestnut Encinal Market for 22 years and have patronized them through 4-5 different owners. I ordinarily stop in daily for something and have been happy to see the latest owners adding more inventory and fresh produce. Unfortunately, the blonde Asian checker that you have behind the register is difficult. Her customer service skills are lacking and her personality is disappointing. I'm going to take my business elsewhere rather than deal with daily frustrations from her
