I really like the three combo deal they have in the deli department, it comes with two side salads of your choice, also with two pieces of chicken for only nine dollars. Also got to love the digital coupons on the Safeway app, you get major savings, I purchased the ben & Jerry's ice cream, the original price cost $7.99 and with the digital coupon, it only cost me $2.97. Also to mention with the excellent customer I received from the cashier who checked out my groceries, she was the one to help me with the digital coupon, to help save money on the ice cream. She didn't have a name tag on, but on the receipt, it said your cashier was Tangie, definitely shopping here again, it's hard to find a convenient store, that have great workers that provide good customer service and have major deals. This Safeway is must, I will be coming back.

Okay..so it's been awhile since I wrote about Alameda Safeway..currently I am at South shore ..hey leadership o er the hill...you need to get out of your chairs and start working the stores... Or find someone who can lead.. Lines are terrible...I think your management staff should work as checkers for a few hours so you know what the heck is going on .you don't deserve the pay when I see things like this..too bad I can't attach pics...you need to lead follow or get out of the way...3s a crowd...

Safeway at South Shore Alameda is pretty legit. Found everything I needed, especially all that keto stuff, and zipped in and out without a hitch. Self-checkout was a breeze - no line! Even snagged a sweet parking spot. Gotta say, prices aren't low, but for the convenience and selection, it's worth it. Definitely making this spot my go-to for shopping. Solid 4 stars!

Safeway store is clean and organized, similar to other locations within the grocery chain. I usually stop by for their fried chicken at the hot foods counter and various types of breads/pastries/donuts they make from their bakery. Today, I was happy to discover multigrain croissants! Tried one and it was better than expected - still had the nice buttery croissant flavor and decent flakiness to it, despite being more dense due to the multigrain flour and seeds it is made out of. I hope this becomes a regular item they bake. What I most appreciate about Safeway is that most locations like this one, are a designated spot where you can bring your plastic film recycling (clean cling wrap, plastic wrap, plastic packaging) to drop off. The bin is located next to their regular recycling, compost, and trash bins by the entrance .

2 stars for parking and being open 24 hours. Before today, cashiers have been reasonably nice. I've never had GREAT customer service here, but today it was TERRIBLE. Evelyn, you clearly need a job that doesn't involve you interacting with people or working late at night. Saying HELLO would be a good start with your rude ass. Also, $84 for a hand basket of items?! This combined with the customer service is a sign of the times, I guess. It's unfortunate because I grew up with this Safeway when it was on the other side of the shopping center, back when employees actually cared about their jobs.

Some of the clerks are nice but some of them are so rude. The clerk tonight was so rude to an elderly customer. She was abrasive and seemed angry and the elderly woman was so nice to her. She asked if she wanted a bag and the lady said something quietly and was holding her own bag. Then the rep asked her again and said, I keep asking you and you don't hear me!" in a kind of abrasive and fast-cadence. She then said something else and the elderly woman didn't hear her, and the clerk said something to the effect of, "Never mind, you don't hear anything I'm saying." Then as the customer said, "Thank you," and got her stuff, it was my turn and the clerk said something about the other lady being dense or some kind of put down. I tried being polite to her also and she was sort of ok but also just seemed really impatient and abrasive. Experiences like this make me not want to come to Safeway anymore. Usually at Trader Joe's they're much nicer and I can go to Walgreens or Costco for things Trader Joe's doesn't have. I hope Safeway can train their employees to be more polite and professional!

Five stars for being a reliable neighborhood grocer but 1 star for the rude behavior I got when I ran in there at 5am after dropping off my daughter at her job. I was quite a mess and was wearing a large hooded jacket which is why I think the associate had a prejudiced attitude toward me. A mature female associate with wavy, red-colored hair responded in a scolding manner when I ran up to the register to pay. She was chatting with another associate while they worked on a project. I could see no other associates or registers open so I was looking in their direction puzzled. I am quite certain they spotted me, especially this red-headed associate. The associate in question started walking away toward the self checkout so I started following her. She suddenly blurts out "I'm not open ma'am." I quickly responded to her "Where do I go?" Even she had to strain to see which register was open. It weighs on you heavily when you've been a loyal customer of this particular store for 6 years and this is what you have to deal with, getting reprimanded for showing up at 5am looking like a bum. Why is it acceptable nowadays to get such mediocre customer service? Maybe this associate believes that really early morning hours are not truly business hours.

Absolutely the worst guest service for returns! The personnel that are supposedly trained to assist their guests/customers with returns have no people skills whatsoever. I recently attempted to return an item without a receipt. I explained that the transaction was on my club card. The associate was condescending and rude. I fully understand that a receipt is required, but what this employee could have suggested was that I could find the receipt on the Safeway App. (I only learned this after I left the store, and donated the items). Had she provided me with this information, she could have processed my refund and the end result would have been a very satisfied guest. Instead, I left the store contemplating if I will ever shop there again. Why would I? Their competitor Trader Joe's is right next door and their employees always go the extra mile to take care of their customers. I will most certainly go out of my way to avoid this particular store in the future.

Love this store! They sell the best items you can find, deli, bakery and over all items you want to purchase is here. The staff are friendly and check out is pleasant, last time I shopped there my cashier was Tangie, she was nice and patient, excellent customer service, this is the primary reason I shop here.

I'm in and out Safeway all day. Tonight, service was so bad. This employee was so rude I wanted to say something to her but I just stood back, watched and listened. She got on the intercom and paged for checkers so loud and slammed the phone, you can hear the slam. It scared me! I guess she was in a bad mood. Crazy part, there was no lines. And the way she spoke to her coworkers, RUDE! I asked her, are you the manager, she asked me WHY? Is there a problem. I told her, no just asking. She rang me up charged me for my bags, there's no handles. They're ripped off. Safeway bags are getting worst and they're charging us. That's ridiculous. Raquel was my checker. She needs to work on her service, how to speak to her coworkers and herself. Next time, if she gets disrespectful to me again or the other workers. I will say something. It's not right.

Pros The store is decent, there are worse safeways. Cons Customer service is a rare find at this location. I have had cashiers check me out without saying a word, a thank you, or a smile. Too many employees prioritize their thug persona over customer friendliness. Many times I have been encouraged to go to self checkout where the line is shorter. I know it's a shorter wait but I still don't want to do it, it is not my job. And I just can't tell you how many times the cashier filled out the customer satisfaction survey!!! This alone should tell you everything you need to know about this location. When the survey comes up, they won't let you do it. And Heaven forbid you need a roll of quarters. I know about the coin shortage but you should be finding solutions for your patrons instead of excuses. I could go on, but I'm going to cut it short.

This is in regards to the delivery service from the Shoreline Safeway. I have a love/hate relationship with the delivery service. On one hand, it's convenient. On the other hand, too many problems and too much of a headache. When my subscription ends, I'm not sure if I will be renewing it. 1. On recent orders: a. I was charged 5 lb of orange for a single orange. (I have had an ongoing problem of the charged weight being significantly higher than what I actually received). b. Instead of receiving two squash, I received two pumpkins (this wasn't even a substitution, just a mistake). c. Items missing from the delivery 2. I have had an ongoing issue with certain items being way past their prime. ( I kept getting slimy, rotten cucumbers. I even put in the notes "please make sure cucumbers aren't slimy" and I got rotten cucumbers again. 3. For the past 3 months, even though I clipped the $5 monthly reward coupon, it didn't get credited towards my receipt. I clipped the $5 birthday month reward and that didn't go through either. Twice when I called about the monthly reward,, the support person argued with me and wouldn't give me the credit. 4. The other week I received a rotten watermelon. I asked for a refund and they said I would have to take it in to the store, which is a 15- 20 minute drive. I'm assuming this is because I've requested refunds in the past. This felt a bit like adding insult to injury- I requested refunds in the past because there was a problem with the item. So I drove to safeway, and it turns out the service/returns department had just closed. ( I acknowledge that when I started placing orders with Safeway, I did it on my phone, and it wasn't clear to me how to request substitutions, so early on I requested refunds I shouldn't have. On the other hand, there are a lot of problems with the phone interface). 5. I have contacted Safeway multiple times about incorrect product information, and changes were never made. There are positive sides as well. For the most part, it's convenient. Some of the delivery drivers phone support people have been very nice and helpful,

A big, clean, well organized Safeway in Alameda!! The prices in Safeway have gone up, so download the App for the best deals, the just for you savings are good. In this store, I have always found what I'm looking for rather easily. Also, the fruit in this store seems to be a little fresher than other stores, in my opinion. Or maybe I just come once they have restocked. Located in the Alameda South Shore Shopping Center, there's plenty of parking here, and they also have the Safeway gas station available. One of the few Safeways I actually like shopping in!!

I started using their delivery service after standing in line for over 45 minutes a couple of times. Warning: do not use Safeway.com for delivery. It may work for a while, but you will eventually hit a snag where your groceries aren't delivered or you don't get a majority of your groceries. Once you are in the Safeway.com customer service vortex for a greater than $75 refund it's near impossible to actually get your refund. I've switched from delivery to pick-up.
