My husband and I were shopping for printers. Charles was able to help us out with getting a printer with the cartridge and the paper - the printer bundle and helped us getting printer coverage for a great amount. Definitely will be coming back for more office items...

I Walk in at 5:50pm and the first thing a staff member tells me is "We are closing in 10 minutes" .I had already looked up the store hours and only needed two high resolution copies. When I get to the print desk, another associate tells me, we are closed. I thought they closed at 6 and she no we (the print center) close earlier at 5:30pm. The store hours online do not indicate that. I only needed her to use her fancy printer to make two colored copies. I then go the self serve machines and two are broken. Two other customers are ahead of me. The energy and pressure all the customers felt was unacceptable. Does this establishment want business or not? Don't make your customers feel unwelcome- we understand you close at 6pm but in most customers service industries, it's understood you may need to stay open 10 to 15 minutes extra. To top it off my colored copies came out blue when the original was white. I feel bad for the dozen other customers in there with me trying to GIVE YOU BUSINESS. I won't be back here and I would not recommend this location.

This review of for employee Skyler. I came in twice this week for print services. Skyler was super helpful both times and made the experience so smooth. Now I know how to proceed next time I want to use the print services again and I will go back here.

Wow, this place has really gone downhill. I try to shop in person at real stores instead of Amazon when I can. I needed some supplies for my home business, as well as some colored pens and glue for my son for Christmas. I've been to this store in the past, but not for a couple years. It was a disaster! The store had almost no stock. Like, I went to get printer paper, and there were some boxes of 10 reams, but if you wanted only 1 ream, there were only a few kinds, and only like one or two of each. I just wanted standard 8.5x11 recycled paper, and they didn't have any! The paper shelf was almost empty. And what they did have was kind of pricey. $23 for one ream of paper? Then I looked for envelopes, standard #10 with self-stick. It was like $16 for a box of 50. Really? I stood there in the aisle and checked Amazon pricing, thinking maybe I am just out of touch with current inflation and prices. Nope, it wasn't me. $5 on Amazon. I'm willing to pay a little premium to support a real store, even if it is big-box, but not that much! I tried to find correction tape and walked down every aisle. I couldn't find it. I tried to find someone who works there, but the only people I could find were checking out customers. Finally I saw an employee, so I followed where I saw him go. He came out of an aisle and was walking toward me, so I said excuse me and asked. He didn't make eye contact or stop walking, just said at the end of aisle 8 as he brushed past me. I'd looked in aisle 8 like three times, because it seemed like the most likely place. Well, although the man was rude, he was right, it was there. Only in bulk boxes (e.g., boxes of 16), on a shelf that was labeled for a different product so I couldn't even tell what the price was. I only needed one or two, so I passed. Throughout the store, all the shelves were half-empty, disheveled, and with stock in the wrong places. It was awful! I did find the colored pens and glue that I wanted. I ended up getting just those two things and planning to buy my business supplies from a different place another time, and all I wanted was to get out of that awful store. Checkout experience was ok, no problems.

Funny story Corporate if you are reviewing Yelp about the people hired to represent your business. Please review the store video to support this information. I went in to purchase an item around 6 pm this evening October 17, 2022. Never had anything to post regarding previous purchases. Tonight however, I had a strange encounter with GREG. GREG-You can put that on the counter ( scale 5/10) Me-thinking that he's talking to the customer that he's ringing up because that is such a random command when the item is the size of my handGREG-PUT THAT DOWN HERE - pointing to the counterMe asking politely (check the video) - do I have to? (Wondering why I've never seen anyone or been commanded to set items down on the counter anywhere or at any time).GREG reaches over the counter and snatches the item from my hand, places it forcefully on the counter and replies "YES"I walked out of the store. As I was leaving GREG added "Have a nice evening" dripping in as much sarcastic wit as he could muster. Again please check the store video to hear his comment.Later this evening I called to find out his name. The coworker initially stated that he was gone. When I told her that I'm in my car and I'm looking at him he came to the phone, confirming that his name is GREG and stated that he didn't "snatch" the item he "took" the item out of my hands.CORPORATE if you're listening! this was rude, unprofessional and perhaps GREG can benefit from customer training.

This is by far the worst Office Max I have been to. I came with a coupon, which apparently was only online. Cool not a problem, my problem is that the cashier assumed I was trying to get 20% without buying anything when I clearly placed multiple items on the counter. 2. The manager comes and talks to me like I'm an idiot "In ThE FiNE PrINT" about a coupon. "I'm sorry it's only online" would've worked. I wasn't trying to get over on these ppl, I'm pissed they were talking to me as if I was attempting to swindle them or something. Literally almost had me go from 0 to 100. I can't stand ppl like this.

Office Max2160 Otis Drive, Alameda, CA 94501officedepot.com(510) 749-7500Since the Office Depot in San Leandro has closed this has been my go for office supply store. The last two weeks I have been the "Hey Norm" of this Office Max location. Mee at the Printing Service has been a godsend. She was outstanding and understanding. Absolutely helpful and prompt. Never acted as though I was bothering her with my many questions. She gave options regarding paper stocks on the type of printing service I had in mind. Thank you very much Mee. I did go to the Hayward location since I was in the area to get additional printing but sad to say not as informative and helpful as the Alameda Crew Printing Dept. I would like to give excellent customer service to one of the floor rep employees, she was working and as well walking around and asking if anyone needs help/assistance. She helped me by calling the Hayward location if they have additional frames and she kindly asked them to hold it for me. Thank you. Thank you Office Max, Alameda Crew and keep up the great customer service.

Quality/Quantity - I came here to make my copies because the ink in all my printers is ALWAYS dry...My choice is either spending 15¢ (16¢ in Reno) for a copy or $25-$40 for an ink cartridge for my 3 semi broken printers that will just dry out the next time I need to use it. Okay, 3 self-service machines and for the first time, it all worked!! 5 stars!!But my wife says she NEVER has problems, so maybe it's just me??? Atmosphere - Office supply store.Clean and organized. Service - Excellent, for not only was it self service, but it worked perfectly for the first time! Price - 75¢!! Owner Suggestion - Congrats on all your success and the ups and downs since 1986.1988 IPO.1991 Merged with Office Club.1995 International extension to Mexico - Grupo Gigante.1998 International extension to European and Australian - Viking Direct.2001 Central America, El Salvador, Guatemala, and Costa Rica.2012 Merged with Office Max.

this business has a VERY strange policy of delivering some items and requiring others to be picked up. I offered to pay for a set of cardboard boxes if they could be delivered to me two days later and the employee told me that specific item is only available to be picked up. Here's a hot tip: not everyone has a car and picking up items is not an option for those of us who don't. K?

Needed an office chair; back problem dictated the need for a perfect fit. A surprisingly competent employee helped me pick out the perfect chair, charged me 40% less than the price on the chair, promised delivery in four days; it showed up overnight, 3 days early. I'm sitting on it; I'm happy.

I was in a pickle because I hadn't printed my wedding programs and so I got in touch with Tim who helped me to go through the online order form and then even was okay with starting the order tonight so that it would be nearly finished in the morning. Thank you Tim for your help with this very last minute request!

Their customer service is mediocre- friendly but usually understaffed. However, I am giving them 4 stars for convenience and price matching. I can't always wait a day or three for office supplies and equipment to be shipped to me, so it's good to have a local place that has the necessities to keep a home office running. They will also price match with the major online retailers- I often save 20+% on items with the matching.

Horrible place with mixed messages. Upon entering the store, I read a sign saying that masks were optional for those that are fully vaccinated. Being vaccinated myself, I went into the store without a mask. Almost immediately one of the employees (young white kid with blonde hair) walks up to me in a confrontational tone and asks 'CAN I HELP YOU?!?! and "Do you have a mask?" I told him that the sign on the front door states that those that are vaccinated do not need to wear masks. He replies with "yeah whatever" like he doesn't believe and leaves in a hissy fit. Funny though how they never said anything to the light skinned Asian lady that was walking in the store without a mask but when they see a brown skinned person doing the same it feels like the pre civil rights movement all over again. And this happened in Alameda of all places, which I thought was a place that practiced "love and tolerance". The white liberals can't really talk about Trump or Trump supporters being racist because the white liberal is the biggest racist of them all. They just have more subtle forms of expressing it.

Do NOT buy refurbished computers from Office Depot/Max. I was sent one that had a failed hard drive. The options I was given were to return it or to send it back to have the hard drive replaced (a 30 day process when shipping is figured). I was told I could return it at the store. The store said I could not return it to them. They said call the 800 number so I did where I was put on hold for 30 minutes and then hung up on. When I called back to talk with a supervisor, naturally none was available. The rep I spoke with said she would send an escalated message to the vendor to have them process the return and arrange for UPS to pick it up even though the vendor told me they don't handle returns. So I have to sit around for UPS to contact me to pick up the product. She did not know if they could send me a label so that I could return it to a UPS store to be shipped rather than wait for a phone call. Overall I had a horrible experience. The manager at the Office Depot store was not helpful.

This OfficeMax isn't too bad for the staples. If you need to ship something off at the USPS in South Shore, you can get packing tape, boxes, and bubble mailers a bit cheaper here. Just be warned that the service is slow and their computer stuff is a ripoff. If you know what you want, it'll be worth your while.
