Good service. Eloisa is very helpful and explained all the details of opening an account. The banking system is very easy to understand and the website is also easy fantastic. It's not super busy like other banks so there isn't a long wait.

I've been using this credit union since 2006 together with my whole family and have never look back ?The staff are excellently professional. The branch manager is a go getter to the core.

Such a shame. I have banked with Provident for 35 years, and they used to have great rates and service, but going steadily downhill I stuck with them when they screwed up my escrow payment and my insurance got cancelled. Lots of headaches getting that one fixed. (I refinanced for a much lower rate at a different bank, and they almost screwed that one up for me too.) I try to make transfers, and they don't go through. I went in to a branch to get cash and they wouldn't give it to me. And treated me with disdain. Um- no, I can't have my money??? They suckered me in with the "Super Reward" checking acct- with so many requirements and a TERRIBLE credit card. The card denies my charges randomly, which is a pain in the neck (not to mention the "super" rate is, like, 1%?) and this is the kicker: The card was declined when I bought a pair of shoes over a month ago, so I used a different card and then discovered a few days later that my card WAS in fact charged. Good thing I pay attention right? Wrong. I have spent hours with phone calls, emails, getting a run around and then to be told they are "closing the case" and keeping the charge on there. No replies after I-AGAIN- sent them the evidence of the double charge. Final straw. I guess I'll go back to a corporate bank. I tried to support the little guys. My bad.

They charge $5 to cash a check FROM their bank, even after calling the issuer of the check to verify. Ridiculous!

A few weeks ago I, as a customer since 2011, for over a decade, would've given them a stellar rating, 5 stars. With a Super Rewards account, which I have, if you do a certain level of business on your card and have auto-deposit, you get a $35 or more monthly return fee every month, very nice, I got back from them more in 6 months than I did from Wells-Fargo after 10 years or more. However, beware if you've ever been scammed, even for a small amount, by some sleazy vendor. They evidently have NO staff and will make no investigation or effort if you file a credit card dispute. I was ripped off by a scam company, "Pet Screening Inc." which my new landlord in Minnesota asked me to use to prove my cat's vaccinations were current last year when I moved here. This scam-corp refused to let me un-enroll when I no longer needed their services (it was literally impossible on their website), so I sent an email the day prior to the auto-renew saying I didn't want to continue and please cancel my service. They flatly refused, in rude emails subsequent, claimed my landlord "required" I subscribe with them-- which I know is a lie from talking to my property manager. Anyway, as to Provident, I filed the Card dispute on July 11, after the improper billing on July 10, 2022. No refund, nobody at Provident got back to me. So I called the Provident service # the last Friday of July, 7/29. The first rep falsely stated "Someone will look at it and get back to you"-- untrue 6 days later, as of Aug. 4. So today I called, the first rep, Eric, offered to connect me to them. After a bit he got back to me and admitted, "Nobody's answering there," and "It's a small department, they're difficult to get in contact with" (paraphrasing). They could've asked me earlier for my email cancelling before renewal, they never bothered. I could also share "Pet Screening"s 1.3 rating on the Better Business Bureau website, with roughly 4 dozen recent complaints of this kind of scam (charging for deceased pets, or at addresses no longer occupied.) Anyway, Provident doesn't care and isn't helping or communicating with me. It's worth paying for an AmEx card; with that if I do a dispute once every 2 or 3 years I always get a refund!!

Last month I had a bill that failed to get paid due to NSF. The bill was $300 and on the day they tried to collect there was $1500 in my account. Provident claims no one tried to collect $300 that day or any other day that week. It is a few weeks later when I get word of all this and I no longer have $300 in my account due to a late fee from ATT when they overdrew my account 2 months prior and no one said a word about it (Another story). Shoot I owe 300 to these people and someone mess up. I figure it was the company and I explain to them it is going to be at least a month to get their money due to rent and, hey, the money was there. You messed up. But my name is mud now. 30 days later the same thing happens with another company for a $47 bill. Provident claims no one tried to collect that week. This week they did and you are over drawn pay us $28. I doubt 2 separate companies made the same mistake. I don't know what is going on with them but they were a good credit union 10 years ago. Other reasons to love Provident: They hang onto checks for 10 days-once for 12 due to the weekend, that's a whole pay period people! They claim withdraws and deposits are done in the order they are made but will make people wait 4 days after they try to collect to get paid, meanwhile let other transactions go through. Obsessed with charging $28 NSF fees. Currently I am being charged $28 twice a day for the last 3 days and I have no idea why. I went down to ask who was trying to collect and the banker never told me just chose to argue about another $28 NSF fee that happened on payday because they chose to process that bill before my paycheck. Really? $28 for an hour difference on a $10 overdraft? You have got to be kidding me. Anyway, no clue who is trying to get paid. So far this month I'm well over $100 in NSF fees and there is a another week to go! I'm glad someone is profiting on my current situation. It is like they are kicking the ladder out from under you as you try to get out of the hole you are in. They will turn your debit card off for "fraud" 1-2 times a month. I basically can't shop online without them putting a fraud alert on my card. This is handy when you find this out at the gas station and you need to sit on hold for 30 minutes to get your card working, to get gas, to well to hell with it I'm hella late to work now... I understand that I should be more careful with my money and I take responsibility the times I messed up but how can you take control of your finances under these conditions? If you like doublespeak, and need a bully to kick you when you are down Provident may be the place to go.

I have been a Provident member for ~15 years. They have always been helpful and courteous. They refund ATM fees(!!), and their checking accounts have better interest rates than most banks' savings. This morning I called about a credit application, and not only was the phone answered immediately, but I was transferred to a loan officer in moments as well. Kerissa was knowledgeable, understanding, and efficient. It was a genuine pleasure to interact with her.

MY Provident credit card and now debit card constantly get blocked without notice, and I often can't access my money. I'm thinking I need to change banks now. I switched to Provident thinking they would be better than the big banks and their general evil corporate systems. I got a Provident credit card, switched my car loan, got a mortgage. I put as many recurring monthly charges as I could on the credit card because of the good cash back rebate. However the more I use it, the most it was getting blocked. This would happen about every couple of months. I found out it would happen whenever I had to swipe it instead of using the chip (if the merchants card reader was broken). It would get blocked, and I would have to spend 30-60 minutes on the phone to get it turned on. My card got blocked for "Suspicious activity" multiple times because of a recurring 8.99 monthly subscription for an online service, even thought it was the same amount every month. I had switched so much to the card that it was constantly blocked, their fraud detection is at such a low threshhold that it became virtually impossible to use it. I finally had to get a new credit card with Chase, and move my recurring things to that. My credit card still gets blocked, it happened this week because I had the audacity to use it for 4 tranactions, paying for summer camps in advance for my kid. The last straw was today, went I went to my my debit card, and it was rejected at 2 different ATMs. I called Provident, and they told me that actually they only show a record at 1 ATM, and it was not blocked, it was just not allowed because it was "Suspicious activity" again. Provident does not have their own ATMs, but you are supposed to be able to use the debit cards at any 7-11 ATM. So even though I could not use it at 2 ATMs, I'm told it was not blocked. The only thing they could do was cancel my card and send me a new one. So lets recap. I can't use my Provident credit card for recurring transactions because they constantly block them. I can't use my Provident credit card for single transactions when I want the rewards points because they block it. Now I can't even use my Provident debit card at ATMs, even though they say that it is not blocking it, but they still think its suspicious. By the way, I have previously signed up to get text alerts to approve any suspicious transactions, but this has never worked. They block it without notifying me ahead of time, and I usually find out that its blocked when its rejected by a merchant. At this point I'm missing getting abused by the big banks. Their leadership sucks, but at least I could use my money. I have really been trying to make it work with this back, but when I literally cannot use my money, and they tell me there is noting they will do, I just don't know how I can continue to use them.
