Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed by my visit to this shop. I received extremely poor customer service which made me feel like my person (and my money) were unwelcome. The two employees refused to acknowledge (greet, answer questions, etc.) me and my mother, two women of color, but loudly and warmly welcomed in a white woman shortly thereafter. I have no idea if the poor customer service I received was rooted in racism; I can only share what I observed.
The selection of furniture and knick knacks on display was promising, so I'm very sad to say that I did not feel comfortable making a purchase today, and will not be returning.

These people are dubious. I’ve brought items in to sell, and was told they’re either “too new” or “too old” or “too high-end.” Upon inspection of other items in the store, it seems they have no problem selling others like it. These other recent reviews aren’t wrong. I hate that these people are in my neighborhood. I smell discrimination, in spite of their B.S. “all are welcome” performative plaque in the window.

I am deeply disappointed with my experience just now. Two women were talking, I politely interrupted to ask for a price and the one sitting on the counter (older Caucasian woman with short grey hair) looked me up and down and didn’t respond. While the other woman (shorter Caucasian woman with a brownish bob cut) got smart with me and said I don’t know what you’re talking about, as I was only pointing in a general direction (mildly understandable but the way it was said was incredibly rude) … this place will only get two stars because the person that checked me out was kind (Caucasian woman with purple hair) otherwise I’d give it one or zero …. I mean if you don’t want black people in your establishment, I’d say put that on a sign outside so I know where my money is not welcomed. Very very disgusted by this place.

Similar to other commentary - the team is very rude and makes customers feel unwelcomeD or as if you're an imposition. Sadly, people excuse their nasty behavior in exchange for deals - not me, I'm not the one!!

I did not have a good experience with this business and would not recommend consigning with them. I went to collect my unsold items ONE DAY after the pick up date. Yes, I was one day late. But I was only able to come on a Saturday, as their weekday hours are limited. My item was gone. Completely gone from the store. One day late. Interestingly, another of my items was still out for sale. It was not pulled, although both items had the same pull date. I felt they were very unconcerned about me or my items. I made very little money on the one item I sold and due to their limited hours it was somewhat of a hassle to get there. Never going back

Hey, if you haven't visit SecondHome in Alameda then you are definitely missing out. I bring household items in for them to sell for me and I also purchase items from SecondHome. The staff are very professional and talking about friendly, WOW! So, please take the time and support this consignment store, you won't be disappointed.

I went in to look for a small kitchen table. I saw a table I really liked, it was $500+ for the table set with 2 chairs. I asked the women in the front ‘what’s the lowest the table set can be sold’, the lady didn’t even bother to get up our her chair or look up from the computer and told me that they already lowered the price a couple of times then she asked the other lady, what’s the price of the table set… I was waiting for a response to my actual question or if they were willing to lower the price or something but they just ignored me!!!! Horrible!!! I will never go there again, they have horrible customer service for not even bother to look at me. 0 stars!

I love this store, the options are amazing and I just received my table from them and the young men who delivered it were so on top of it. Thanks for being so nice in a time when it is rare.
