I did not have the best experience with this bike shop at all.I went in on 2/10/24 to get a 9speed chain. Store did not have it on stock. The owner, Vivee, suggested to leave the bike until their shipment came in on 02/13/24. I left it there and paid $198.22 for tuneup, chain, and labor.02/13/24 did not hear from them so I gave them a call at around 3pm. I was checking to see if bike was ready but they said they would get back to me when their bike mechanic was done with lunch. Then called back around 4pm. They said bike mechanic would call me back because they just got back from lunch. Never called back.02/14/24 got a text message from the owner Vivee saying delivery is delayed and bike will be ready 02/15/24. I ended up picking up bike 02/14 and told the owner I got chains and will install myself and to refund $198.22I was mostly upset about the fact that refund didn’t happen instantly and took 4 days. What was odd to me was that I had sent a payment through Vivee personal Zelle account instead of the business, Westside Joes Bike. I figured refund would be quick since it was a Zelle payment.A cautionary tale: PAY ONLY WHEN THE WORK IS DONE.

Vivi, the owner, really seems to care about her customers. She gave me an empty bike box (for shipping) and even volunteered to drop it off at my house. Great place to buy a bike or have one serviced.

Did you know that not many bicycle shops would pick up your damaged/ distressed bike should it need repairing, and thus leave you in the lurch? DO not worry Alameda/Oakland, here we have Vivi, the owner of Westside Joe's bikes. This wonderful entrepreneur will come to you and pick it up or drop it off for your convenience. SO happy for the service and now my husband's bicycle can be repaired. Thank you Team Westside Joe's and cheers to you Vivi.

The owner, Vi, owes my son 2 bicycle tires. She took his money and never gave him the tires.

I dropped in to I buy tires. I had them installed and had my derailleur adjusted (and some random squeaks addressed). They provided really great service, they were very fast and the prices were good.

I am now officially over Westside Joe’s Bike Shop. I have had such bad experiences there. I wanted to believe in them. Locally and family owned business with (what i thought were charmingly) stupid, small town commercials at the local theater. Now it all just seems so small town and very poorly run. It is unorganized, badly coordinated among staff who are salty with their customers who want to be loyal to them. The owner doesn’t seem to care about repair, maybe she just wants to sell more expensive bikes. Several times now when I have gone to get my bike (that I bought there) worked on I got aggressive mechanics who seem angry at me for bringing business to them. Once or twice I have had some decent experiences, but I won’t go back any more. Now I have to figure out a new bike place to get commuter bike worked on.

My experience was very bad. I went to get my bike assembled. The mechanic was not able to put together the Brakes properly. I was very unhappy that I picked this place. The owner was very concerned as it took some time for the mechanic to finish assembling the bike.

Vivian and the team at Westside Joe's are the absolute best - it is a warm and wonderful place to shop for bikes in Alameda. We had some issues with the purchase of two new bikes for my kids, and Vivian was as gracious and helpful as a business owner could be. I couldn't have asked for more, and am very appreciative.

Just moved to Oakland suddenly and have been using my roommates bike that sits sadly in the corner. I rode it over to their play of business and they were all smiles with good energy to help.
