I live nearby and have been going here for almost 12 years now. It's gotten worse as the years go by. The worst grocery store I have ever gone too. Horrible management, customer service, expired goods, dishonorable with return policies, and dirty. Plus, their security guards do not help keeping the theft and crime down. I have been pushed aside as people steal items and walk out the front door. Too many homeless people, most of them very aggressive and some violent, frequent the store. Not a safe place needless to say. Stay away from this Safeway!

i don't understand the negative comments about this pharmacy. i have been a customer for years without a problem. if a physician fails to call in a prescription, they call him/her promptly. when the prescription arrives on site i always get a call. mrs. jackson is a skilled shot giver. the comment about "long lines" is not often the case, maybe two or three in front of me is more often the case. the pharmacy can not control this. this is not a large pharmacy and i don't expect a large staff with several open service windows. if that's what you want, go somewhere else. i will continue to use this one because they know me, greet me and are courteous and helpful.

This pharmacy is gatekeeping their stock of a medication that is currently under a nationwide shortage.I called 25 other pharmacies in my area, and no one has my medication.Finally I found this Safeway pharmacy in Albany did have it in stock.However they told me that they have decided they won't accept any prescription unless I was a repeat customer of their specific Albany location, because they are "saving their stock for their current repeat customers."Even though I have filled the prescription at another Safeway Pharmacy a couple towns over, they say that they are holding their stock only for THEIR location's previous customers. This is the ONLY Safeway location doing this in my area. It is not a company wide decision, nor is it a policy of the company.When I asked them about this, they said it was a decision their specific branch wanted to make. Medication stock during a nationwide shortage should be dispensed on a first come, first serve basis, for those with valid prescriptions. (Or at the very least, those of us with a long history taking the medication which they can see in their systems.) There are no mandates or policies in place justifying a pharmacy to withhold medications from new customers based purely on a "a personal preference" to save the medication for their preferred customers, who haven't even submitted a prescription refill yet. This is gatekeeping and stockpiling behavior should be addressed immediately, which is why I have also filed a complaint with the California State Board of Pharmacy.

I have used this pharmacy for nearly 10 years, for vaccinations and medications. I have never had a problem of any kind, and I have never encountered long lines.

Both pharmacies (Safeway and CVS) in Albany are terrible, but Safeway is by far the worst: mixed up prescriptions, long wait periods for the medicines to arrive for refills, vastly incorrect amount of prescribed medicines given, seemingly insurmountable lines for service, poor communications skills of the pharmacists and staff, unethical questions asked, and misinformation given, etc. Do yourself a favor and stay away! If I could, I would give this joint no stars.

This has been our pharmacy since our independent pharmacist retired and selected Safeway in Albany to send his clients. They have given us excellent service, calling to advise when there are delays and always accommodating and helpful. It is sad to see the errors of perhaps one employee used as the reason to reject the entire hardworking staff.

Had terrible experience. I called to verify when i my sons meds would be ready, They put me on hold and then after a while hung up. Tried calling couple of times, when to the pharmacy and all the time picked up and hung up. Looking at the review, it sounds like common experience. Is this standard? How is corporate safeway keeping them accountable?

Horrible customer service. I asked him to asperate my son's vaccine. He didn't know what it was but agreed to do it...he didn't. Do not go there!!

HORRIBLE I told the tech to asperate my sons vaccine and he said he would. As he jabbed him he then said it was not reccomended. He did not know what asperation was I had to explain. DO NOT GO THERE!!!!
