I normally don't yelp anymore, but this is relevant. At first, it's easy to overlook this spot as a typical SoCal strip mall donut place, but it's not. This place has recently had a huge facelift. They no longer sell scratchers and the donut quality has improved by a long shot. I didn't even like this place before the remake. They make fresh juices and smoothies that can easily compete with the bougie spots in Beverly Hills. As I write this, I'm drinking a fantastic orange, beet, and carrot smoothie that tastes like they added sugar even though they didn't. The pastrami on croissant could probably feed two people. Get it with the jalapeño and sprouts. This place has amazing potential and I don't want future customers to overlook it because they don't know how much it's changed.

Very nice ladies/staff. I was looking for a "frozen" coffee or coffee smoothie. The closest thing was a mocha flavor on the menu but they accommodated my request for coffee taste and it came out really good! Excellent spot! Thanks again

Wow was I surprised when I tried this place. Once you walk in you see how colorful and big it is inside. The apple fritter I had was really good.

Their donuts are super fresh and soft. I stopped by in the morning after seeing they had a 50% off special for the weekend. I'm surprised even after a few days my donuts can still be soft after microwaving it. They also packaged my donuts well in a box and sealed with tape. The cheapest donut costs $1.65. Besides donuts, they also sell sandwiches, burritos, crossiants, coffee, juices, and smoothies. There is plenty of parking, but its location is located on a corner of Altlantic and a small street right next to Mission so hard to miss so drive slow. The only need for improvement I see is they should repeat a person's order to make sure they got it correct. When I ordered, I repeated and pointed at the menu the smoothie I want but ended up getting the wrong one. However, they remade it after I told them it's wrong. Therefore, it would be nice to make sure and repeat the order back to the customer to avoid these situations. Tip: Try to pay with cash if you can. A service fee of 50 cents is charged when paying with card.

tl;dr the ok-at-best donuts aren't routinely worth the price -- this spot would only be worth visiting for an early morning treat when other donut competitors are still shuttered Los Angeles and the surrounding suburbs are saturated with mom-and-pop donut shops. In Alhambra, one of the most popular is the aptly named Alhambra Donuts, a friendly neighborhood store off the busy intersection of Atlantic and Mission. It shares a strip mall with a Domino's and a laundromat, sporting a sign reading only "Donuts". The shop opens at 4:30AM, clearly catering to the early bird crowd. Before dawn, the lotto jackpots shine through the window, lighting up the otherwise dark parking lot. Inside, cooly-lit fluorescent fixtures shine from the curvy recessed ceiling onto the rust-red tile floors. The wall space is all put to use, whether by cluttered shelves, mismatched menu boards, or cultural knickknacks. To the left, a long donut display is filled with the standard varieties. The light wooden counter loops to the back of the room, and an Alhambra Donuts mosaic hanging at the far end. Mismatched tables are scattered around the open room, and pink contour booths are pressed to the window on the right. During my first visit mid-morning on a weekday, Alhambra Donuts had only a small trickle of customers as I sat and "enjoyed" my donuts. I use quotation marks because, even at 9AM, the donuts collectively tasted a bit old, as though they were crafted the night before. The maple bar had a surprisingly dynamic frosting, but my compliments end there. The donut itself was dull and dry, so I tossed most of it. Meanwhile, the apple fritter sported a thick glaze and a pleasantly dense texture. However, it was completely devoid of either apple or cinnamon flavor. Finally, the old-fashioned was moist, cakey, and evenly glazed -- leaning on the above-average side of standard. Only the latter option was worth the price (which, in total, summed up to an eyebrow-raising $7). Quality wasn't much better during a return visit even earlier in the morning -- although I was impressed to see a much more robust stream of regulars shooting the breeze, buying lotto scratchers, and sipping black coffee. The owner was friendly and efficient, and she would occasionally chime into the ongoing conversation. I imagine that Alhambra Donuts has stayed afloat for years thanks to these devoted regulars -- a group that I don't ever see myself joining.

On a Friday morning 5:50am in March, I decided to check out new donut shop. The glass shelves had full range donuts. The lady behind the counter said the donuts are half off. I picked plain croissant, bear claw, cinnamon roll and total was $4.60 cents I think. She kept telling me to order a drink which I said no. They also sell juices, breakfast sandwiches, and lunch sandwiches. I took a bite and it was freshly made. I would go back and try other items.

First and last time I buy from here. $20.95 for 1 dozen of donuts. The lady was rude when I asked her for two boxes of 6 donuts in each box.

Great service, fresh donuts every day. Gotta get there early as they are only made in the early morning and sell out fast.

Big sign on door says that it closes at 11:00pm. Website says the same. Showed up at 10:53 pm with my family and was shooed away by guy chatting on his cellphone. Another guy walked out with his milkshake. Kids were very disappointed. No way to run a business in a major vacation spot.
