After eating an incredible, smoky bowl of split pea - which John (the owner) made on the spot on his gas stove behind the register - for $3.75, I bought some grocery staples and a few treats. While shopping, I marveled at the hand-packed "leftovers" stored in the wood-paneled refrigerator, on sale for a modest $1.75/portion instead of being thrown out. A business as personal and homey as Oh Happy Day is a marvel these days. I feel gratitude and respect for John and the space he's fostered. Will be back many times.”

“This store is Great. The staff is AMAZING. Went in yesterday and they were so helpful and patient with me. The store has plenty of varieties to pick from I felt a bit better than going to the market. Usually always get my WIC at the market especially the veggies because it's diff you don't have to get a whole bunch u can get single (like banana, avocado, apples etc...) But I found you can do this here too on some items. The veggie selection is ??. Plus you get a gift with a certain amt purchased. (At least when using your WIC)The only downfall is they don't carry gallons of milk only half gallons. But they have Milk so ?? yay.I definitely loved the staff the girl that helped me was so nice and the manager was cool too.”

“I had such a wonderful experience with sales associate James. I was having a sleeve gastrectomy surgery and was told by my surgeon to purchase certain vitamins that I'd have to be taking indefinitely. James spent so much time explaining things about each vitamin in detail that even my surgeon didn't tell me about. For example I didn't know I was supposed to take my calcium twice daily instead of once. He was very professional and kind. I'm glad I drove from Burbank to this La Crescenta location and do not regret my drive! Thank you James!”

“We had the French toast, super spuds, side of scrabble eggs, and a bagel with cream cheese. The food was great and fresh. I loved the super spuds, like loved loved them. French toast was fantastic as well as the scrabble eggs. I really do like when a restaurant water they server taste good and their's did. With tax and everything came to less than $40.”

The store is always well stocked, there's a speedy check out, and they're patient with you.If you're new to this and are hesitant to come to a Mother's Store, don't!! Just do it! It beats running around a regular grocery store looking for the items you qualify for. Here, they greet you, you get all your benefits within 5 minutes, plus you get a free item (whatever veggies are in stock) and the cherry on top is that they put everything in your car! “Good variety of fresh vegetables sold here. First time I saw purple you choy. Some might think it's slightly bitter but it's also more flavorful than the regular you choy. I personally like how the vegetables aren't over sprayed/drenched in water here. The ladies packing the vegetables are very helpful and will let you know what's good especially when there's a new item. Also has a good variety of Asian snacks, Chinese herbs, tea mix and tea leaves.”

“With prices being what they are for coffee, I'd say you're getting value for a $7 bottle of boutique juice combos. It feels like superfood, tastes great (not like the usual ginger shots or kombucha, blegh) and not loaded with added sweetener either.
