Ridiculously expensive. They charged $100 for 1) weighing my cat and 2) pull out a list of $1000 to spay. Don’t come.

Wellness checkup is $98 which is way over priced. A normal vet would only charge 60-70. Pricing was not known until I got there. If I knew it cost $98 just for a checkup, I will never go. Found out my dog needs a tooth extraction and they gave me a quote. $2k+ for a tooth extraction which is also OVER PRICED. Besides the cost, the doctor and front desk was nice.

Very friendly and patient staff!! My cat is anxious and chooses violence almost daily but we are always welcomed here and the staff puts up with his shenanigans. They seem to care about his emotional and physical wellbeing. We started coming here in January 2022 and continue to be a part of the care club. I just started bringing the newest addition to the family and I also signed up my kitten for the care club. I've had positive experiences every time I come in and I appreciate the staff here! I also love that they write the names of the pets coming in monthly on their wall. I love the little details!

I’ve been coming here for a few years. Recently I’ve taken my dog for an allergy shot. In which gets administered in front of me. Why was it not done while I was there is an answer that nobody was able to give. My dogs allergies never went away. I’m starting to believe in the post that rates this VCA low are true. Who ever does hires people should make sure knows what they are doing or at least receive training.

Great customer service....But when it comes to the VETS ask questions, do your own research on google/ youtube/ books etc. They tend to lack knowledge and your pet might end up dying.

Greedy bastards! The clerks are friendly. One lady doctor is kind, but the other doctor is all about money. $1800 in 35 min, includes 3 photos X-ray and referral to another for surgery of an 17 year old dog that ended up dying with an upfront payment of $17,500. Yes, OVER $18,500 and my dog died in surgery. Please look elsewhere for your pet medical needs. This place is all about money. Find one that sensible!

They are not upfront about their pricing and refuse to give any estimate without a $70 visit.

I came upon recommendation of a family member. The doctor was super friendly and the prices are great. Thank you.

I spoke to a lady over the phone to go over the process of having my dog fixed. I was told I would pay anywhere between 500-600$ for the neutering + 90$ down payment for the pre-examination before the surgery, which would have been no issue. When I got there, and was in one of the rooms where they see the dogs, one of the ladies had printed out a estimation paper showing me that I'll would actually be paying anywhere from 1,027- 1,284$! I just wanted everyone to be aware of this, I paid the down payment over the phone, I would recommend you going there in person and asking for an estimate before even paying that 90$ for the pre-examination..! If you don't mind paying 1 grand, by all means the clinic appears clean and staff are friendly. I was just dumbfounded and a bit upset when I was told one price over the phone and when the vet were done with the pre-exam, I was told it would cost me 1grand and some change.

Haven't been here in many years. Super friendly staff. Dr. Kaplan was great, answered all my questions and put me at ease with any concerns I had about my new puppy.

Dr. Kaplin & Vanessa were always Tops. Recently had a 22 year old dog euthanized but was upset about the price.Dr took a 10 minute look knowing that he already had issues and wrote up treatment including euthanasia. We had decided to let him go and I was already upset but there was No Mercy on the Bill. While other competitors charged lower prices I felt the Dr Visit could have been Waived out of Compassion

Was told over the phone by male receptionist blood work was $55. Made and appointment and arrived today excited to get my dogs shots/blood tested. Receptionist tells me what I came for and I had told her I'd like to get bloodwork and allergy shot. After meeting with vet I get an estimate of about half a thousand dollars for blood work. I'm speechless. Don't plan on going back after this experience. They also tried charging me for an exam not knowing I needed one when I arrived. Dog still needs to be tested and he's itchy. Shady practice and incompetent staff.

I've been taking my dog Bella to VCA animal hospital on Mission in Alhambra for many years. I took her there right after I adopted her 13 yrs ago and love and trust them with the care she's given each and every time. Always make my appointments with Dr Parks he's very knowledgeable, kind and makes my pets feel at ease. Bella had 2 teeth extracted today and is doing very well. He is the best!! The staff is also well trained and polite the office is clean and close to my home. I'm always notified when their vaccines are due and easy to get an appointment...very happy I found them. Our dogs health is top priority we plan on keeping them in a safe trusted place for their care.

EDIT: After speaking with one of the receptionists about this issue, the VCA interim manager, Christina, reached out to me via phone. While she did apologize and offered to speak to the lead receptionist for a refund, she gaslit me and attempted to deny that Dr. Ramsden's behavior COULD BE racially motivated. Despite not being in the exam room with me and Dr. Ramsden on 7/22, she was convinced that he was "not racist" because she hadn't witnessed that behavior from the interactions she had with him. She even dared to ask me if he even made any explicit remarks about my race during the exam, as if the only form of racism is verbal. This was after I told her that I was an asian woman who had a poor experience w/ him, and that other bad reviews about his behavior were also made by asian women. People of color, especially women of color such as myself, KNOW that racism occurs in MULTIPLE FORMS, not just through explicit verbal comments. Shame on all other individuals that try to invalidate the POC experience in what is already such a racially divided society. Side note: I called the office on Monday to schedule an appt w/ any Dr other than Ramsden for a 2nd opinion since my dog's ears were secreting liquids & bleeding. They were very sweet, and made an appt for me w/ Dr. Park the next day! He was super friendly and calm with my nervous dog, and answered all of my questions. It just surprises me so much that amazing vets such as Dr. Kaplan & Dr. Park are employed alongside vets like Dr. Ramsden. **** This review is for Dr. Christopher Ramsden. Our usual vet is Dr. Kaplan, and he is a very patient and professional doctor whom we greatly appreciate! I saw Dr. Christopher Ramsden on July 22 for an emergency-- my dog had eaten chewed-up gum off the sidewalk. This is an understandably anxious situation. From the moment that Dr. Ramsden entered the treatment room, he was cold. I'm not sure if it was because I am an Asian woman, or if the owner of my dog has a non-American name on file, but I could tell he was not happy to be in MY presence. In fact, he seemed annoyed that he had to do his job. I explained to him my dog's issues: she had ingested mystery gum, stepped in that gum, and was licking her paws a lot before the gum incident. I voiced my concerns: possible gum blockage in GI tract & history of yeast infection on the paws, respectively. He did nothing to address those concerns. He said that the gum will be fine since we don't know if it's the toxic or non-toxic kind that she ingested (completely careless "diagnosis," if you ask me). Without checking my dog's paws for gum residue or any exterior indications of why she might be licking her paws so much, he immediately said she should get an allergy shot. Talk about running to where the $$$ is. He did not even look at my dog's paws until the vet tech came in to review the treatment plans' cost breakdowns with me and I had to request that he do his job, aka inspect the animal with presented concerns. He came back into the room without greeting me or making eye contact (I extended a friendly "hello," which he did not return), rushed to inspect her paws, and that was it. Dr. Ramsden is a completely impersonal individual, racially motivated or not.
