“I absolutely adore this place! It’s such an amazing haven for fans of Japanese music, especially fans of music from the 80s and 90s. I’ve found such amazing artists featured here, such as Akina Nakamori, Omega Tribe, Wink, Naomi Akimoto, and Tatsuro Yamashita to name a few. They also have CDs from early 2000s artists such as Namie Amuro, BoA, and various Visual Kei artists, which is amazing since their music tends to be hard to find on streaming services. The owner is also extremely knowledgable and is able to answer all of my questions. For fans of Japanese music in LA, this place is heaven!”

“We went to Leanna Lin’s last month and felt the need to share a positive review! The shop is small but filled with so many cute goodies and collectibles from AAPI artists. I loved the cards and books in many languages, and especially appreciated the ones in Tagalog. The sales associate at the counter was also friendly and warm. The biggest perk of this shop (and a major reason we’ll choose to go to her business over others) is the affordability of collectibles. Smiskis/Sonny Angels are marked up like crazy in so many places in LA and she sells them at a reasonable price, thus allowing for increased accessibility despite its extreme popularity. It makes the drive up here from the west side worth it. Highly recommend going here for the large selection of collectibles!”

“I've ordered from this location several times and decided to pay a visit as I was passing through California. I'm so glad I did. I was able to purchase a Hangyodon plush in person. This store has every character in stock with the exception of Usahana. She seems to sell out quickly. They are an officially licensed Sanrio store so you know you will also be purchasing items from Japan as well. This is one of the few Sanrio stores that is super organized and very easy to shop. Glad we made the visit.”

A personal favorite were these sassy air fresheners and silly toothpicks. I guarantee you'll find something for everyone even if it's a small item. “Ordered an arrangement on valentines day morning to be delivered (yeah I'm that guy). Wound up driving to pick up order around 6PM since I was worried it wasn't going to get delivered. Staff was very kind and helpful in spite of the craziness. Quickly found my order under a valentines day avalanche of flowers and fancy fruits and sent me on my way. Wife and daughter loved it.”
“The LAPhil store is located in the Walt Disney concert hall. It is an adorable little store which focuses on what the LA Phil community would like to see and purchase. There’s merchandise related to the music performed and for music lovers from a very young audience to the older generations. There are inexpensive and expensive items to choose from. It is very elegant and can easily accommodate many people; and it has selections for yourself and for gifts to give such as mugs, magazines, magnets, albums, cds, record player, earrings, necklaces, shirts, books, instruments, purses, stickers, and jewelry. This store celebrates the years Dudamel has been the director and conductor for the LA Philharmonic ❤️??”

“When I shop for gifts outside of my neighborhood (East Hollywood), Retreat is my go-to. Diane, the owner, has curated a wonderful collection of jewelry, art prints, cards and fun gifts for virtually any occasion. Despite this shop's relatively small size, it is packed with goodies. My go-to is always the card section, where I invariably find a card for an upcoming birthday or, even better, the perfect card for a friend who could use a pick-me-up or a good laugh. My stationary drawer is packed with Retreat cards that I've got on the ready and I am very grateful. There is a great range of options in terms of price. You can find very fun patches and charms for around ten dollars. If you are looking a bit higher-end, there is a lovely collection of jewelry: but you are definitely paying for quality work that will be appreciated. Diane and the various employees are invariably friendly and eager to help you find something perfect for your friend or family.”
