I have lived here in Altadena for the past 30 years and all I can say I am quite disappointed at the lack of training and rudeness of the post worker, Giovanni, located at the Altadena Post office on Lake Ave. In the past, I would visit this location on a regular basis so much that Giovanni felt comfortable enough to beg me repeatedly a review of his customer service on the US Post Office website. I told him I would do it and although it took my my valuable time I went through the long lengthy process of figuring out how to write Giovanni a good review which was no easy task on the US Post Office website. However I later discovered Giovanni's behavior to be just the opposite of the kind person hard working caring worker he portrayed himself to be. His customer service efforts were only in direct relation to what he needed to advance himself and were not genuine as other postal workers such as Nancy who has worked at that same Altadena location with the same consistency and kindness for as long as I can remember. In a previous incident I reported Giovanni's rude behavior to his supervisor Israel and most recently when I entered the post office at approximately 4:59 pm without realizing it was closing time because I was the only person standing in line behind someone Giovanni was helping, Giovanni claimed the post office was closed, although the metal gate was clearly open and he was clearly helping a customer and the fact that I only had one piece of mail in my hand he refused to serve me. I asked for him to get his supervisor whom he hesitated and claimed I do not think he is here. I believe he lied and refused to retrieve his manager Israel when I asked for his assistance. In this same time period Giovanni spent 5 minutes arguing when he could have weighed my one item and placed the postage and sent me on my way he failed an in Napoleon Hill's book Laws of Success to go the extra mile and therefore failed to provide the customer service that would commensurate with the good review I previously posted. Giovanni was in fact not willing to go the extra mile as he had so often asked me and other customers to do for him, but now it's time for his superiors to know that his lack of customer service and satisfaction is a 1 on a scale of 1-10. The Altadena community is a beautiful place where lots of wonderful people live, is it not possible to have postal workers who reflect the same.

Most USPS experiences leave much to be desired but I had one today that made up for the less positive ones. Geovanne went out of his way to help me figure out my issue and efficiently handled it with a great attitude- didn't make me feel like I was wasting time. Most of the time I ask questions I'm met with impatience or cold attitude. Thanks Geovanne! Makes me want to come back. Wish they opened earlier like other locations and had better parking situation but conveniently located for me.

Took a while to get through the automated phone system but I was able to connect with someone pretty soon after. Not only did they answer my questions, but I did submit an investigation and have been thoroughly followed up with through the whole process!

Services I have used at this location: dropping off and shipping packages, buying stamps.I've had nothing but good experiences with this location, and I don't think it's nearly as bad as some of these one-star reviews make it out to be. It looks like people are rating with their emotions rather than measuring the value of this office, because I see people having issues with tasks out of the scope of this location's functions, such as information on the USPS website, packages lost before they reached Altadena, and someone who ordered stamps online. The most viable criticisms I've seen are that the parking might be challenging at some times of day, and that there is sometimes a line, but these a pretty standard for a post office.

I come to this post office at least 2-3 times a month and everyone that works here has been very kind, patient and helpful.

Trying to talk to an agent is next to impossible. If the situation falls outside of the automated prompts Incan see why people hang up just out of frustration. No wonder people stopUsing the USPS and use all the other options. These tax dollars are NOT working.

Wish it was possible to give a minus 5 star rating.Twice in a month overnight packages containing over $200 worth of veterinary medications were lost. It's been over a month since the refund and insurance claims we're filed with USPS. The employees at this location are as sweet as sugar and as dumb as a box of rocks- to date, the unfortunate combination of complete disinterest and ignorance, probably means a complete failure of an already poorly antiquated system. As cringey as it makes me feel to recommend FedEx or UPS I certainly do above USPS!!
