Described by the Santa Clara Valley Water District as an outdoor classroom, the educational component has to do with tours (ie. field trips for elementary school kids) teaching about where our water comes from and how the wetlands play a valuable role in the bay area as a habitat for many species of plants and animals as well as water quality maintenance and flood control. But tours are currently not offered here, as noted on the SCVWD website. Instead, the informational boards on site educate and encourage visitors to "discover water", while also providing a bit of history about the quaint little town of Alviso. Beyond that, the park provides tables and seating underneath a gazebo along Gold Street, in addition to a public restroom and small parking lot, the whole place clean and well-kept for the most part. I often enter the Guadalupe River Trail here when I go running. Days like this, it's a simple spot good for picnicking on a calm winter day and perhaps doing a bit of birdwatching. I sometimes see security here at night, so it's not a place to hang out after dark (typical park hours).

Do not visit this little park(or any) after the Fourth of July. The site was littered with firework wrappers, deflated Mylar balloons, remnants of picnic meals. The bathroom was absolutely frightening with a clogged toilet, piles of toilet paper in the corners, and large puddles on the floor. There was no one in the area so I felt unsafe staying to enjoy my lunch.

Nice pavilion with cement tables. Education consists of some signs to read. Has bathrooms and proximity to Guadalupe River Trail. Good history in the signs and needed because Alviso has an interesting history.
