I have been to numerous pawn shops in the area and I stumbled upon Golden State Pawn and Guitar after I had the WORST and I mean WORST experience At Beach Loan Services Pawn shop. I was treated so badly even got cursed at by their employees and to make matters worse when they gave me my change they shorted me $40 bucks I was so upset and wanted to get out of there I didn’t count the change till I got in my car and after that experience of being cursed and talked down too and finding out they cracked my Apple Watch too I just left and didn’t go back inside to get the rest of my change !!!!!!!! After this unprofessionalism of a nightmare experience i took my business else where and never looked back !!
THATS WHEN I FOUND Golden State Pawn and Guitars and I am forever grateful because of the culture the owner brings to his business he genuinely cares about his customers and that’s rare especially when it comes to pawn shops! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone because after my horrible experiences with the pawn shops in the area I almost gave up on finding a good place, a place where they actually care for their customers and their items. Bobby the owner of Golden State is one of the nicest caring and most understanding people I have ever met. Because of this I still have my MacBook not only was he understanding he gave me a few days past my loan due date just until I got my paycheck to pick up my laptop any other place wouldn’t have ever cared to do this and would have sold it - and I know this because I’ve been threatened by previous pawn shops despite me having a good background and history of paying my loans on time and to be treated so badly and not even that I’ve had my items broken damaged and cracked from previous places (cracked Apple Watch, and a MacBook that was dropped and wouldn’t turn on) so finding Bobby and his pawn shop was a blessing. Not only do I deal with the owner directly the owner is understanding and kind and you can rest assure what ever he holds onto is stored away safely !!!
IVE BEEEN TO ALMOST EVERY SINGLE PAWN SHOP IN THE AREA AND BELIEVE ME WHEN I SAY THIS - GOLDEN STATE PAWN AND GUITARS IS THE PLACE TO GO AND I MEAN IT !!!!!
It took a bad experience to find this place but I’m glad it happened because I will never go anywhere else but here !!

I **HIGHLY** recommend this shop and Bobby! It was my first time visiting a pawn shop and Bobby made the entire experience both calming and educational.
I needed to sell a 20-year-old Brownsville double cutaway in an SKB case; I found Golden State through a Google search. From the beginning of our interaction, I could tell Bobby was genuinely interested in helping me understand their process vs. other pawn shops that just silently look at your items and quote a low offer with no explanation. He talked me through how he was searching his database for recent comparable sales, gave me an idea of how much I could expect to sell it for privately, then quoted a sale price and told me the offer would stand even if I walked away and came back later.
I tried a couple of other pawn shops in the area, but their customer service was nonexistent compared to Golden State. I quickly went back to Golden State, sold the guitar+case and then Bobby agreed to review a random collection of other items I had. It was the same process as before: he closely reviewed the items, talked me through his opinions on what would be of interest to his shop, and gave me advice on what I should try to sell privately instead.

MY GO TO Bobby is one of coolest persons I've met at any shop. Not sure if he owns the shop but he's usually there whenever I go. I usually come here to buy myself a set of new strings and whenever something happens to my guitar. He wasn't able to fix my guitar the first time I came in with my guitar acting up but, he gave my guitar a check and told me what the problem most likely was. Not only that, but he also recommended me to another shop nearby where they were able to fix the problem I was having. Today I came in with another guitar problem and after Bobby checked out my guitar, it turned out there was nothing really wrong with it. He gave me a rundown of what probably happened and my heart started beating again. He also gave me some really good pointers to prevent it from happening again and a really good bridge recommendation if I ever decide to swap out the one I currently have on my guitar. For anyone interested in the shop itself, it is on the smaller side but they have a lot. It's a cool little shop with cool people.

Bobby sold me my Xbox Series X a while back working no problems he honestly was really cool about it negotiated with me and was willing to stay open a little later when I told him I was running late awesome store owner these are the gems we need more often. Ps. I might go back for a ps5 he mentioned next

I got here at 4:30 on Saturday and it was closed. Hours say they are open until 5 pm on their door. I was looking forward to browsing there, maybe buying something... Not today.

I took my 30-year-old Takamine acoustic into Bobby yesterday for an overall set up (first time since I bought the guitar in 1991). He had it ready for me today and it plays like a dream. I really appreciated Bobby's guitar knowledge (plus he plays like a champ) and his sensitivity to the instrument. He's got a great inventory of guitars in the shop, which is why my wife doesn't want me to go back for fear I'll return with another toy. I highly recommend Bobby for the kind of guitar work that he does!

Bobby is very professional and nice from the first call. He is very sincere and gave a fair price for my Gibson guitar. Bobby really knows guitar and the whole transition was very pleasant. Would highly recommend this business.
