Most of the checkers and bag persons have become lifeless zombies. No greeting, no conversation, no well wishes when departingIt's sad to see what's happened to basic customer service skills. Not sure if it's a problem with management or just a lack qualified employees but our expectations when shopping their have been reduced drastically.

PLEASE READ THIS *BEFORE* YOU THINK ABOUT SHOPPING HERE: I'm warning everyone to STAY AWAY from this store, as I want to share my recent experience a month ago w/ a checker named JORDAN. Not sure how he even got hired at a store and for a position that requires good customer service skills and a friendly demeanor as he rings up customers. I have been shopping at this store for 30+ yrs, and always have been told if there is NO ONE IN LINE in the Express lane (and if I have more than 15+ items), that I can check out in that lane. As I pulled my cart up to unload about 30 items (mostly small cat food cans), JORDAN was talking up a storm w/ the checker next to him (she had a line full of customers), and since he didn't, he felt he could leave his lane to bother her. When he returned to his lane and saw all 30 or so of my items that I had completely unloaded on to the belt, he told me (w/out even greeting me with a "hello"), "you need to take everything off (the belt) and move to another check stand since you have more than 15 items!" I was stunned by his very rude comment and replied back him, "I am not moving to another lane! Who is the store manager?" He replied, "Doyle, but he's at lunch right now." Obviously, he knew I was serious about complaining, and needless to say, he proceeded to check me out, but there was *no* communication whatsoever after that. As soon as I pushed my cart just outside the door while leaving, I called the store number at the top of my receipt and Jennifer answered, who is one of the managers. She knows who I am, and I explained the incident to her, and she was very apologetic, and assured me she would talk to Doyle to update him, and have him call me when he returned from lunch. About 45 min's later, I rec'd. a call from Doyle, who had already spoken to JORDAN. He said he told JORDAN that since he's paid hourly, it doesn't matter whether he's ringing up 15+ items or 15 items or less - he gets paid hourly. I hope Doyle warned him that it better not happen again or he will be FIRED. I returned to the store about 1 week later and checked out in Jennifer's lane, and I kept telling her how I would NEVER get in JORDAN's lane again, and how RUDE he is to customers. Well -- since then (for the past 3 weeks), I discovered a BEAUTIFULLY REMODELED, *EXTREMELY FRIENDLY* Stater Bros. location at 18527 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886. Oh my, was I impressed! The store manager has his employees greeting customers, the baggers who also help out by sweeping the lanes, ask if you need any help finding anything (yesterday, w/in 3-4 min's, 2 friendly guys in diff. aisles asked me this.) This hasn't happened to me in YEARS! One of them actually said they can "get fired" if they don't ask and interact w/ customers, b'cuz they are emphasizing customer service! I love this! Even Dillon, who used to work at this "RUDE" store at 1741 Kellogg Dr, Anaheim, CA 92807 now works at the "FRIENDLY" store at 18527 Yorba Linda Blvd, Yorba Linda, CA 92886 (I'm sure it wasn't because of a pay raise; but rather, he transferred to get out of this "RUDE" store b'cuz he got tired of everyone's attitudes.) And a bagger at this "RUDE" store told me JORDAN is RUDE to everyone at that store (not just to me). And the produce manager at this same "RUDE" store, who I ran into recently, told me when he is short-staffed in his dept, he does "draws" and he doesn't pick JORDAN! He also told me he’s never heard of someone telling a customer what Jordan told me in his 18 years working at the store! The store on Yorba Linda Blvd. has extremely friendly and helpful employees; is BEAUTIFULLY remodeled w/ a nice wood vinyl flooring, has a very impressive produce dept., w/ baskets holding the fruits / veggies, and the HUGE selection and variety reminds me of Pavilion's (but w/out the same high prices!) LOVE this store! PLEASE! DO YOURSELF A

first the workers are great but the store is beyond old and over due for update. on top of the fact it is a smaller store and the selection sucks and doesnt have to just the mangers dont really care. they have the it is what it is attitude. and you could have a bigger selction quit easy but it would take cooperate to wake up and put money into the store. been well know for 20 some yrs its good for quick shopping but real weekly shopping your better off going up the hill to the lakeview store meat and produce is way fresher far bigger selection. and you not making do with what they happen to have. the liquire store next door has been empty for yrs why you guys havent taken that space over and expanded this store yrs ago is beyond me. lakeview store is always jammed packed and workers over worked and kelloge store is never ever packed and workers are easily distracted with not much to do at times. if you took the other space over and made this store bigger n better it take overburden off lakeview and increass sales 3 fold or more at kelloge. this store loses staers bros money by bad reputation big time. this store has always been one of your worse stores. n i get before having to buy out the liuquer store and all that in the past but its been empty for yrs. could be a great store but yall just necglect it like its not really there. very wierd considering all the other stores in oc you have revamped and or built new. not single dime spent at this store. really a big slap in the face to some the workers there that do bust their butts.

Staff is great but the building and parking lot could use an upgrade. I understand the landlord is a slum lord and is very cheap.

For the most part I'm satisfied with the store itself however at checkout I've experienced boxboys using the checkstand top as a drum. At the end of my stressful workday, spending outrageous prices for nutritional survival, and now I have to endure the tapping torture at checkout and it's becoming too much. As I type my review, I realize the fix. I will just keep headphones on to block out the loud store music and the drummer at checkout. With that said, you will need to communicate with me around my headphones and I will communicate around the drummers.

Really glad they finally upgraded this store. My only complaint is training the person who bags the groceries better. I come home with smashed chips, and bread. I arrange my cold food and room temp items on the belt so it's easier to bag. When I give a cold bag to put my frozen and cold items in, they will put the cheezits in there and my frozen stuff in a regular bag.

I could not find Juicy Lucy beef patties at this store, so I went to the one in Orange on Collins and I was pleased that I found them there!

This is medium sized neighborhood Stater Bros. I will say though, I've found things here that other grocery stores have been out of so that's a nice thing. The store is clean, parking is pretty good, and have found the employees to be friendly and efficient. Other than that, that's about I need in a grocery store.
