Was able to get right in & our cat Junior was quickly diagnosed and his immediate distress relieved. We were then referred to their hospital in Redding and they made the arrangements. The Veterinarian seemed excellent, the staff top-notch. All very caring.Definitely recommend!

Smells of dead animals when you get there and it is not open for walk-ins, but that’s not on the website

We had to put our beloved 17 year old Mini Doxie Cami down on September 8, 2023, you have taken care of her and bordered her for 17 years. You also took care of alI of our animals for over 25 years and I can not believe you have never sent any kind of caring card to us, for any of our animals. We had to go to Ashner Vet in Redding on 2 different times because you were not open, we lost our Cat Cookie and our dog Tanner and they sent both sent us the nicest cards and all the staff signed them.Very disappointed with Gateway. Any animals we will have will go to Ashner Vet.

I own an English Bulldog & this clinic is close to home & heart. Familiar faces for the past five years greeting with clean environment outside & in. With friendly smiling staff & Dr's equip with all you need right there. We walked in & was seen a few hours later with the availability of an open spot. Waiting was a pleasure but the care we received was priceless.

breach of confidentiality after visiting one time, I have received multiple emails with another clients email containing personal information, complete appointment, medication and other information. if I were this other person I would be incredibly unhappy to know all my information is being sent to a stranger.I have asked multiple times to be removed from this email and yet they continue to come to my inbox regardless.

This place used to be amazing. We took our dogs here for exams and for boarding but it has gone downhill the last few years. Boarding used to give report cards on how the dogs did during their stay, get baths and they used to be thrilled to go there. Now there is no report cards, the dogs are so stressed coming home, no baths, barely ate. The boarding prices have sky rocketed!!! $12 in 2 years! I called to ask about them about it, was told that was how it is and they don't tell customers. I requested they tell customers about changing prices and the lady got rude with me. Do yourself a favor and board your pet somewhere else

Brought my Max to have a growth on his lower eyelid examined. Dr. Sherrie examined his eye and also did a thorough exam. She was calm and attentive despite being the only veterinarian and lobby was swamped. The front desk is so patient and courteous, also under these circumstances.

BEWARE. READ ALL THE FINE PRINT YOU SIGN/INITIAL AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE THEY TAKE YOUR PET FROM YOU. I brought my two dogs in for a vet check up so I could continue to purchase flea and heart worm meds. Vet said my dogs each had beginning ear infections and that their ears needed to be cleaned. Tech took my dogs, brought them back, and gave me a printed page with costs. They did a heart worm test on both of my dogs that I did not ask for nor did they require. When I received a print out of what I was to pay, they wanted me to pay approximately $350 for each dog to receive 12 months supply of flea and heart worm medications. Thats $700 total, and that was just for flea meds. I did not ask for one year supply.......for each dog. They did testing on my dogs that I did not ask for, and when I spoke with woman working front desk she said that I had signed a paper and okay'd the procedure. They brought me paperwork to sign before I saw the vet, but I had two skittish dogs that were wrapping around my legs, whining, and trying to scoot out of the room. I asked what it was and the tech said it was what I needed to sign to proceed. I eyeballed it, saw the word "heart worm" and assumed it was for the medication. The woman at front desk wanted me to pay for the procedure. I didn't even know what they did to my dogs. Blood? Fecal? Urine? I was bewildered, and when the lady at desk dug in her heels that I was to pay, I said out loud to myself, " No F____cking way is this happening." I couldn't believe they could perform procedures I did not ask for. I now believe the tech was at fault for this. The woman behind desk, turned into a 14 year old teenage girl. She yelled at me," Do not come here cussing at me!" I replied that I was not cussing at her, I was upset that testing was done to my dogs and I didn't know what they did to them. She kept on raising her voice at me, with this completely over the top look like she smelled something horrific, telling me to stop "cussing at her." I stepped back from the desk in disbelief. I thought she was having some sort of mental meltdown episode. I said, "Your charging me for a service I did not ask for, I have no idea what you did to my dogs, and you want me to respond by paying you with a smile on my face?" She kept on. A woman opened a door and stepped into office and very kindly told me I did not have to pay for the tests. The woman that had the tantrum, opened the door to office and SLAMMED it shut. I opened my mouth in disbelief and the other woman just smiled at me. I told her, "You put my dogs through a procedure they did not need and I did not ask for, that woman expects me to pay for it, and I'm the bad guy for saying the F word in disbelief. She can act like that!.....and I'm the bad guy. Beware. Unstable people working at this VCA. READ ALL THE FINE PRINT AND ASK QUESTIONS BEFORE THEY TAKE YOUR PET.

Presently very dissatisfied with this office. They are withholding approval of the renewal my dogs prescription dry food pending his appointment. I was told they would approve one more bag since the appointment is set. Three fax requests from the pet store later--that they said they never received--they now verbally say they will not approve it. This particular food helps his joints and he is the one who suffers in all this.

I was at the facility for a week. My interaction with the crew was wonderful. They are polite and loving to all the animals that arrive and depart. Surgeries are performed, the house animals while their families are away!! Closed on the weekends and holidays, however their is always a staff on-site to babysit your pack!!!

Said our cat had a “slight Heart murmur and he’d be fine” is what this vet advised. Our cat died due to the issues from the heart murmur. We have transferred our care to another veterinarian.

If you love you animals, do NOT bring them here. We used to highly recommend VCA Gateway. We have been taking our labs there for almost 10 years. My 12 year old slipped on the tile yesterday and he is unable to get up right now. Tried calling them yesterday and they said they can't take him for 2 weeks. I just called again this morning and the gal at the front desk reiterated they no longer take animals on an emergency basis and they cannot see him. The lack of compassion she displayed was extremely unprofessional and downright rude, then proceeded to hang up on me. The people working there don't deserve to be working in the industry. This vet will not be around for much longer if they treat people/animals the way they treated us. I will NEVER step foot back in that POS if they continue to employ c*nts with that attitude.

it's a long story but Dr Sanfilippo is a careless person for over 3 months I called every other day at least, sent numerous pics and went down at least three times, begging her to get my dogger Diamond in asap and to please talk to me for 5 mins and she didn't come to the room at any time when I went down there or listen to me at all, she just told the staff to tell me no, (thank God for Rachel) Dr Sanfilippo could care less...so it was a long 3 1/2 months but diamond made it to the surgery date ? and was never able to walk or bark or heal because the "Dr" completely butchered her and left her sliced wide open, Diamond gave up on living 10 days post surgery, and I knew something was wrong immediately and have allways trusted the VCA staff but I stayed around just in case and I took her back in 4 or 5 days because they hurt my dogger and i knew she was dieing, so for the first time in almost 5 months Dr Sanfilippo actually comes to the room (just to see her own work, not because she cared) and after she looked at it and had a few thoughtless words I told her that's why I had begged her for three months to please help asap, then Dr Sanfilippo replied "well the cancer was so bad there's nothing we could have done anyways" but if she had even talked to me for 5 mins to discuss any of this with me instead of ignore us and leave me no other choice, then my dogger could have at least got to say her goodbyes and I'd have had another few months to spend getting ready for goodbye...the way it went I was trying so hard to help her fight to live when I should have just been holding her and telling her I love her and it's ok, because I knew they killed my dogger but I didn't wanna believe it until it happened, and now my heart is scared and ill never forgive myself for trusting Dr Sanfilippo or failing my Diamond by doing so ...R.I.P. my l?ve... thanks again to the staff who cared and to Rachel especially, but u need to report Dr Sanfilippo, she's going to tarnish your caring reputation
