They have been fantastic every step of the way with all my dogs over a long stretch of time. Highest recommendations. The doctor remembers all his patients and is very caring.

We have been taking out little ones here for over 6 years now. The staff is amazing with the dogs, and truly treats them as if they are their own kids. Thank you for taking great care of our furry family!

I always want to support "the smaller company" in my neighborhood--because at the end of the day it really matters. Having just moved to Antioch -- I dropped into Companion Pet Hospital to get a feel for it, and to see if I could potentially come to them for my pet needs. After walking in, I stood around in an empty reception area for almost 5 minutes. I could hear some noise in the back, but it felt like the place wasn't really open. When a woman of a certain age made her way to the front desk, she said "hello" -- and appeared to be a bit flustered with "all of the activity" happening at their location, as she suggestively expressed. I mentioned that I was interested in seeing if I could potentially bring my pet in to be seen by someone -- and she quickly replied "have you been here before" -- I shared that I had not, to which she replied "well, we're not seeing new clients." I said -- ok, and "thank you"...but truly, I felt confused. Wouldn't "patients" be more apropos given who they're seeing? I guess that's just semantics, but it felt very transactional. No waitlist, no question about what my needs were -- or if maybe I could just support them by buying food or supplies there (which I would be happy to do seeing as two of my pets are on prescription diets). For being a small-town "hospital" -- this first experience felt more like a neighborhood clinic. I think "hospital" is a little grandiose of a title given my experience.

So, if we're talking affordability and the quality of care alone, this place deserves five stars. However, their weird, inconvenient business practices made me finally find another vet. So, first off, it's very rare that they'll even see new clients. The first time I called them they just happened to have their client list open. However, when my sister in law needed to find a vet for her cat a few months later, she was told they weren't seeing anyone new. We actually had to maneuver around this by having me take in the cat, because I was already on their client list. The cat needed to see a vet again a few months later, but I couldn't take the cat in due to scheduling conflicts, so my SIL called up figuring their client list would probably be open by then. Nope! They denied her again. So she had to seek care for her cat elsewhere. A few weeks later I called needing to bring in my dog that hadn't been seen by them before. However, I figured it wouldn't be a problem because I was on their client list. Nope. They insisted they could only see pets that I'd already brought in, which makes no sense. They have time to see my other animals, but no time for the one that actually needed it, just because he hadn't been seen there before???? It makes zero sense. So, I finally got tired of all the weird roadblocks and found a new vet. While I will say Dr. Maloney is a great vet, the way he runs his office makes it very difficult for your pets to get the care they need. Not at all worth all the hassle, IMO, especially when there are other affordable vets in the area that don't make you jump through hoops just to get your pet seen.

My dog was a patient of Dr. Maloney's for close to 11 years. I'd bring her there 1-3x a year for well pet checks or anything that I noticed, I'd sched an appt and bring her in the soonest they had available for anything, for peace of mind. I'm a very proactive pet owner. There was a point in time that I thought so highly of Dr Maloney, reasonable fees and he came across as being in the field for all the right reasons and comes off knowledgeable. The beginning of March I brought my dog in for a lesion on her belly, he told me this is likely "something bad" and prescribed antibiotics, he told me his staff will call me in a week to check on Phoebe. I received no call but in the scheme of things that's not at all the issue I have with him, I had low expectations for his staff and went to companion pet hospital because of Dr. Maloney, but he's absolutely negligent!!! He told me for 7+ years that my dog has a grade 1 murmur but nothing serious enough to start her on medication. After the appointment with him in March I went to a different office for a second opinion of the lesion on her belly, her appt with the other vet was about 5 days after her appt with Dr Maloney; the vet at the new office told me at that time that my dog has a GRADE 4 heart murmur and is on the cusp of heart failure. I found out more about my dog in one visit at the new facility than I did in close to 11 years with Dr Maloney. We started her on all the heart medications that her lil body could handle. You can't reverse heart failure but you can try to prevent it from getting worse with meds. I emailed Dr. Maloney letting him know I'm so frustrated with his negligence and lack of diagnosing my dogs heart failure. My email wasn't rude, it was direct and to the point. See attached. He read the email, forwarded her records as requested and I haven't heard from him since. I was SHOCKED at the fact he didn't reply to my email or even so much as reach out to me regarding my dog. Fast forward two months and my precious perfect fur baby has passed away. I regret trusting Dr. Maloney. I've been to the ER vet 4 times since March and if he would have provided better care and diagnosis early on for my girl I'm confident she'd still be here with me. His fees are so so reasonable compared to his competitors, but you get what you pay for!!!! I wish I would have known, but how could I have known :(. I feel like I failed my dog, but Dr Maloney failed my dog. I was so wrong in trusting his expertise.

I bring my big social boy cooper (Irish setter) and my shy baby girl Nikki (rescue said she was a black lab, she isn't) here for all there shots and check ups. Place is amazing. So friendly from start to finish. No squeezing $ out of you. Only recommend what's necessary for your furry friends. If I could give them 10 stars I would!

Let's put it this way, I drive all the way from Fairfield to have my pets be seen by Dr. Maloney. He really is a special doctor and trust his care and expertise where it relates to my pets. My first experience with Dr. Maloney was around 2014. I had a small dog years ago who stopped getting up and being mobile. I took her to a local vet and they referred me to UC Davis to have back surgery which would've cost me ~$5K. I was referred to Dr. Maloney by a friend to get a third opinion. During the first visit I immediately saw how he interacted with my dog and how he treated them like an actual patient; making them feel at ease, gaining their trust and being so thorough. Needless to say, he provided me a treatment plan that involved a little pain management and mobility strengthening. I'm one week my dog was back to normal. I couldn't believe it. That's when I knew he was tr You can tell that he loves what he does and that he cares for all his patients. He is thorough, extremely knowledgeable, and provides a lot of information and aftercare, if needed. There was a lot of genuine care that he provided my dog and for that, I will always choose having my fur baby come to Dr. Maloney.
