I usually go to this Safeway for convenience, it's closest to my house and on the way home/on the way out but PLEASE! Make it so customers can keep shopping even after getting items in the liquor sections (not just the liquor) I'm tired of being harassed about checking out when I'm not even done shopping and I can't go through self check because I HAVE to check out there. I don't want to talk to people when I shop and I want to be left alone

This store keeps getting worse and worse. It's the closest grocery store to my house but I usually only end up here as a last resort because.... a) what happened to all the carts?? b) many products that I buy regularly are not in stock OR the expiration dates have passed. c) Produce is NOT fresh and fruit flys everywhere. d) Today I tried to get a package of fresh tortelini and it was spoiled. e) People bring dogs into the store and no one says anything - isn't that illegal? f) I don' t feel safe in the parking lot when it's dark. I end up driving to Brentwood where the Safeways seem to be cleaner, better selection of produce, products fully stocked (not expired), and THEY HAVE CARTS. Two weeks ago I happened to be in Concord and stopped at the Safeway there. It was immaculate - Disneyland compared to the Safeway on Deer Valley! How is it that some Safeways within a couple miles of each other have such different quality? Why do I have to drive 20 minutes out of my way to go to Safeway when there is one 5 minutes from my house. Super frustrating.

Maxie is a terrible employee. Rude , poor customer service , and acts like she don't want to do her job. She needs immediate training on how to assist customers.

Safewayvhas gone downhill especially the Antioch location. You feel like you walked into a prison ut that's not their fault. However having to search the parking lot to get a cart and the staff at times beiin unhelpful the one staple I could rely on was the deli. Unfortunately that has gone hell with them using cheap bread and having employees who don't care or know how to make a simple sandwich. Looks like I'm going back to Togos or Mr. Pickle. Just sad

Just went to Safeway in Antioch and programmed their special on creamer 2/6$. First of all if you are having a digital coupon sale, then you must have them in stock on the 2nd day of the add. Absolutely VERY POOR Quanity. None on the shelf. I asked a polite clerk, she came back and said none in the back! I talked to store manager, she said "what can I (she) do". I said get your staff to do quality and quantity upgrades. If your store advertises it, best have it. Oh I can give you rain check. I refused and told her cost more in full to save 55 cents each. Kinda ridiculous don't u think manager!

Holy cow! I went to pickup some groceries and immediately left. The prices are literally double Winco's. Never again.

I was there earlier today and stood at the deli trying to get a pound of roast beef. I stood there for way too long as employees were around. One lady made eye contact to be and said rudely. " someone will be with you in a minute I dont work her ".I continued to wait and as I did a employee appearded standing behind me ..I ask her if there was anyone here..she responded RUDELY. " I dont know I'm standing here too ". I finally had it and walked out very disapointed..I am also a visibly disabled person and making someone stand that long is rediculous..I'm never going back to that location EVER..

I have not shopped at this store for a long time because I was tired of dealing with rude people (customers and cashiers) and stepping over homeless people when I arrived early in the morning. I am happy to say that I am glad to see that Safeway has made it feel safe again. It is really sad that it had to resort to gates and security people and closed off sections but something had to be done. I am glad that Safeway did this. Also - a shout out to people who work there- they were friendly and polite when I talked with them and needed help.

2+ years later, grocery service still is disappointing! For grocery pickup, make sure you don't miss picking up your order because they do noy automatically cancel the order and issue refund. I missed picking up my order on January 3rd and until now no refund. I submitted refund request on January 18th and it's now the 25th, still no refund! I followed up with complain on their Contact Us page on January 19th and got an email response that they've escalated the request. I followed up yesterday and got response this morning and they confirmed they did sent for escalation but gave me January 29th ETA. Escalation does not mean a thing This is way beyond ridiculous!

So it's the day after Thanksgiving and I know working during holidays is a lot! I went to the part where the liquor is to check out with wine and get cash back. Veronica didn't ask for my ID because I told her my birthday no biggie. Well she didn't have enough cash and took me to a regular register. Here we met Pam, now she was helping another woman(black lady and I'm black) seemed confusing and stressful. We went over and she didn't say hold on or give me a second so I already knew this was going to be a problem. Once their done shes like what happen, I said oh she didn't have enough money so she brought me here. She starts scanning and says let me see your id(now I'm young looking but I'm not I'm 44) I say my beeday out loud and she's like I need to see your id, I take it out and hold it(I never let people hold my ID(gems) she's like I'm blind in one eye and I'm like okay don't hold my id. She stop ringing me up and says let me get somebody to help you. Manager comes over looks at my id(without touching) and rings me up. No problems! I went to San Leandro Safeway and the young kid in that Safeway asked for my date no ID. All that to say. Pam is black and Pam might be rude to everyone like this especially her own people. Not cool and I didn't appreciate it. I've shopped here for 17yrs and never had any issues.

Don't order from their online delivery if it's late you won't get your money back it has been since Aug 14th and I still have not received my 35 bucks back and every time I go online to chat with agent or even called they said it was going to be escalated and then was never ever felt with and Safeway technically stole 35.76 from me so watch your bank accounts if you order and it's not delivered that day

I've been a Safeway/Vons shopper for decades. Never ever have I seen the insanity that is this store. Recently moved to the area from San Ramon (where the Safeway has been remodeled and resembles a higher end market). The employees seem nice, but I'm not sure if management is working on how the store presents itself and reminding employees that they are part of that image. The two employees at the deli during my visit were attentive, but the food displays were off putting. The premade foods look like they were dry on the top, flies in the hot food holder and the areas around the dishes were not clean. I'm used to Safeway having an open hot bar and olive bar. I'd never buy premade food from this location given the lack of cleanliness and possibly food safety. After seeing this I went straight to the frozen section. It's difficult to shop sometimes because there are no carts and the stock is iffy. The clientele is wild. Actual dogs in the store!! I love my dog and I would love to take him everywhere, but food shopping is not the place. It isn't sanitary for anyone involved. These were not service animals. Two were very obviously puppies and surprise... they were bully breeds. Shoppers like that are why food deserts are created. This store needs to beef up security and ensure that people are not bringing pets in. One shopper had her puppies (yes plural) in a shopping cart. I would like to continue shopping this location due to convenience, but my health and safety concerns outweigh the convenience. I rather shop elsewhere.

The multi buy package of meat for $20.00, don't risk your health on it. It was bad by the next day. Chicken seasoned heavily to mask the odor of spoiled meat. Chicken Breast was buy one get one free which makes me wonder that their prices are so high they cannot move the meat before it expires.
