This is my go to grocery store. Ive had no problems in the past and appreciated the kind customer service. However today I was yelled at outside the store for taking my grocery’s in a handheld cart to my car. I had no intention of stealing the cart, and planned on walking it back to the store afterwards. But instead I took a walk of shame back into the Safeway, as the guy at the self checkout watched me put my few grocery’s into a bag. Embarrassing to say the least. I explained as I left that I don’t usually buy a bag because I don’t like the waste and that I didn’t need one. He didn’t say a word back. Worst experience I’ve ever had grocery shopping. I was and still am upset about the situation and how it was handled. I understand people might steal carts. But to yell in the parking lot at a customer, who had no intention of stealing is unacceptable. I will continue to go to this Safeway. But hope never to receive such a humiliating experience again.

It's a great store with amazing employees. The store is kept very clean. There is always plenty of parking spots available, and the parking lot is spacious. CVS, Westside Pizza, Subway, and a dew other stores are all in the same shopping center and within walking distance (very close), as well.

I’ve always enjoyed the Arcata Safeway. It brings back memories from my childhood when my grandmother was alive. Her and my grandfather built the Arcata trailer Park over on alliance Road. It used to be called “Mac’s mobile manner.” And my grandfather built it back in early 1960’s.
The trailer park is still there but they are both long gone. Sad that things out live people. That however won’t always be the case. (Psalms 37: 9~11,29,34)
My grandmother shopped at Safeway and so I am following her example. The Arcata Safeway though has a special place in my heart because this was her Safeway. And and until just a few years ago there was actually one man that still worked at the Safeway that knew my grandmother Estelle and her sister Mammie.
Thank you Safeway for still being here, for one thing, and for still taking good care of your customers.

This Safeway is by far the worst Safeway in the county if not the worst Safeway I've been to ever there is a constant lack of items in stock and as a delivery driver for food orders they're tends to be a habit of their being things listed that they don't even have in stock or marked on their shelves to begin with it is very common for things to just be out right missing and for those of you that like your Ben and Jerry's ice cream because it's in a college town that's Safeway almost never has any they're almost always out of stock if you don't get on the day of delivery they ain't going to be in there just a heads up

This store price gouge you every chance they get. Safeway 10miles away has better prices. The employees would not honor a temporary state ID with two other forms of photo ID. Everything i come here I leave in a worse mood.

Big shoutout to Kash. I ordered a holiday dinner and when Kash realized that a mistake had been made with the order really went above and beyond to make sure our dinner was available when it was needed. Great customer service.

Safeway has a solid variety of food, fresh vegetables and meats, ice cream, chocolate. Donuts are good but aren’t available as early as I need them. Great customer service.

Older Safeway with narrow aisles. Grocery store items adequate for the limited space they’re dealing with. Clientele encountered in the store typical for the area.
