Branch manager is hostile, passive aggressive and not customer service oriented. More interested in enforcing rules than helping customers. There are much better places to bank than this mismanaged place.

4/3/2023 They dont make it easy to bank here, that's for sure! Service & convenience were bad before COVID hit in 2020 - now they are much worse! This branch is constantly changing hours & I see that they've gone back to the Mon - Fri - only nonsense & the only open from 9a to 5p nonsense. They USED to stay open til 6p on Friday's. This was very convenient for me because I usually can't get there til after 5p! If I'm not mistaken, they also used to have limited hours on Saturdays! The WORST feature about this bank is their debit card. They mandate that you must have a SEPARATE code/password to shop in stores, , to use their ATM, to bank online & to call the automated system to get info about your account. That's a LOT of passwords to try & remember & also which goes to what. Who does that? Even worse ... ALL of your debit passwords EXPIRE EACH YEAR! Does Mechanics notify you of this? Of course not! Surprise! You find out the hard way when all your transactions are declined while you're shopping in a store or online or standing at their ATM after 5:00 pm desperately trying to get cash. Ive had enough, so I no longer use their debit card. When I need to bank with Mechanics (their 5th or 6th name change since 1998), I just go inside the bank to avoid hours of frustration. The good news for me is that Mechanics isn't my primary bank I only keep the account open for personal reasons.

If you rely on ATM transactions, this might not be the bank for you. I've experienced frequent outages and wasted lots of gas in futile efforts to find a machine that was up and running.

Apparently Mechanics Bank does not accept cash readily. I tried to deposit $640 to my HSA account and $210 to my wife's HSA account. I arrived at your drive in window approximately 11:40, sat in line and was told at 11:55 that I needed to obtain special approval by a supervisor to deposit my cash. I asked for the supervisor who told me that forms needed to be signed. I went parked and entered the bank, stood in line briefly and was assisted by Sheri Curl who is rude, unhelpful and sarcastic. She took the deposits, provided a temporary receipt and instructed me to see Thomas McGarvey (the supervisor from earlier.) He provided me a form to sign which I did and asked me to bring back my wife's form which I agreed to. I exited the bank at 12:15, 35 minutes to deposit cash. Just yesterday i deposited to my HSA scanning a check to your app. No forms needed. I also inquired about deposited directly to my regular checking and transferring to the HSAs. Told no again, even though I have done that numerous times. I returned to work, missing my entire lunch break at the bank to be called at 12:32 by Sheri to notify me that the deposit of cash would not be credited until I return my wife's form. My wife works during the banks open hours of operation. I told Sheri how unhappy I was and that I plan to speak with the corporate office. She sarcastically replied. Well it's a long drive, they are in the Bay Area. Your policies need to be amended to be consistent. It makes no sense to accept checks for deposit via scanning online without hassle yet refuse cash when presented in person. Both of the inept employees noted above should be fired or retrained.

Mechanic bank Charging me a fee for paper statement with no statement and didn't even warn me! Already a stupid bank I'm going away from this bank. Rabobank totally pushed me on this bank! This bank is stupid

The change to Mechanics bank has been terrible. No customer service, hours on hold waiting for a real person both at the branch and corporate level to answer the phone. I have been a customer since it was Great Western (1998 I believe) and this is the worst change over I have ever experienced. I will be moving my business shortly.

The drive has no organization and is incredibly slow. Depositing money is always a pain and the end result is never the same, sometimes I dont get a receipt! The customer service there is terrible!

I receive payments for my notary services by echeck often and I have been printing the echecks from my office and depositing the echecks for several years at Rabobank. I have been a customer of Rabobank (now Mechanics Bank) since Rabobank took over Mid-State Bank in Atascadero. I went to the bank tonight to make a deposit and was told by the manager, Holly, that my echecks cannot be used at Mechanics Bank. I think after over 4 years of depositing and cashing these checks with no issues, that this would not be an issue now. I am very disappointed and frustrated that this should be an issue after 4 years of banking with these checks. I am now considering taking my business to another financial institution.
