I've been coming to this restaurant for the past couple years. All in all my previous experiences were positive. Tonight I was craving their Singapore style rice noodle dish. I asked if I could substitute their curry chicken breast for their regular chicken and was told no. I offered to pay more for my request and was again abruptly told no.I stayed with their original version which I have had many times before and enjoyed. Upon arriving home I was further disappointed with the taste of the dish. Instead of fresh tasting it tasted bland and rubbery, like it had sat for hours. I realize everyone can have an "off day" but next time I will stop with the rude treatment and not assume the food will make up for the way I was treated, trying to place an order.

I ordered the pork dumplings in general tso’s chicken and it came out to 33.45 without tip. The dumplings were way too doughy and the only flavor and texture is of minced green onion. Some of the worst dumplings I’ve had.For the chicken dish, I am not sure there was any chicken. Most of each piece was all breading. The flavor of the sauce was worse than what you can get from Trader Joe’s.The food only took 4mins 38sec for to be brought out once I ordered it which shows me that it is far from freshly made either flash fried or reheated.

I love Chinese food, including American Chinese food, so when I saw that Liu Mandarin Kitchen had orange tofu I knew I wanted to check it out. My mom also loves Chinese food and we came for a late lunch on a Friday. When we arrived no one was there and the staff were eating their own lunch. We were acknowledged when we first walked in and chose a table by the window. Unfortunately, after we were seated and given menus they forgot about us for awhile and had to be flagged down to take our order. I got the Orange Tofu (vegan) and while I thought it was okay, it's not something I would seek out again. I would have preferred the chunks of fried tofu to be smaller and the texture to be different. My mom also thought her food tasted rather average as well and didn't have enough sauce. I don't regret checking it out, but I don't see myself coming back.

I don't know why this place gets such good ratings. We stopped on our way to the Bay Area from Tahoe and maybe we are spoiled with good Chinese, but the food here was really disappointing. The dumplings were tasty. I will give them that. Everything else ranged from meh to bad. Rice noodles were sweet, the noodle soup flavorless, the salt and pepper shrimp super dry. I would have loved to discover a great Chinese food place to frequent to/from Tahoe. They'd need to do a lot of work on the food for this to be it.

Food is great but the portions are very small (have decreased significantly yet price has increased). The lady who runs the restaurant is rude and treats her employees like garbage.

This is such a sweet little Mandarin restaurant. We live in Auburn and we order from Lui Mandarin Kitchen a lot. It has become our Christmas Eve tradition. The food tastes fresh and it is always plentiful. The owner is absolutely delightful. This restaurant is an Auburn gem. We love their coconut prawns, fried rice, chow mein,......pretty much anything they make is delicious.

Excellent, tasty menu. Fresh and will made. We love to eat here. Not far of the freeway if headed to Tahoe. Simple and clear decorate. So many delicious items on the menu. Try several. Dumplings, noodle dishes, beef soup. The hot tea was wonderful. Walk around old town after a wonderful lunch.

By far the best Chinese restaurant in Auburn. Fresh food, not greasy and great quality ingredients. I am super picky about my Chinese food and would hands down recommend them above anyone else in town.

Owners are two sisters from Beijing and San Francisco. The husband painted beautiful landscape on canvases showcased inside. Authentic homemade noodles and dumplings. We had pork, beef, and seafood dumplings, pan fried and tasty. The Singapore noodles were tasty on their own. Nothing was salty or oily. The interior is beautiful and service was kind.
