Not enough checkers, prices are extremely high but five on Friday is pretty good.

This place does not use hand baskets, which sucks and no way to clean the nasty carts. The only time to go is before 9 am, because the cashiers disappear after 9 am. They make it a point to close lanes when there are long lines. I avoid this place when I can, but it's my closest grocery store. Definitely like the $5 Fridays. Never know what's on sale.

Every time I shop at safeway, something doesn't ring up correctly, or the digital coupons and/or the rewards don't apply. It's impossible to even see what you are being charged at checkout. The clerks apparently don't know how to read the registers right either. Every time I ask them if my items rang up the sale price or if my coupons applied, they look at the screen and then tell me they did... EVERYTIME!
I've learned to get a running total in my head before I checkout. The only actual way to find out if I got charged correctly is to pay, then open my app and look at my digital receipt. I then have to go to customer service and wait for someone. After usually waiting 5 to 10 mins for someone to help me, I get an attitude like I'm inconcienicing them or I'm annoying. If anyone is being inconvenienced, it is me! And I'm pretty certain that helping your customer IS your job! The crazy thing about this is that it has only been the last few years that I even realized that I wasn't being charged correctly! I can't even imagine how much money I've lost buying things only for the simple fact they were on a really good sale. It can't only be me. So if you shop the ad and clip digital coupons, CHECK your RECIEPT ON THE APP! I can guarantee
you will be shocked. Why is it so hard to figure out what you are being charged at checkout but simple on the app? My guess is that it's that way on purpose. They've got to get a ton of money from people not being more aware of what they are actually being charged.

Hello safeway management.
I am writing to express my disappointment with the service I received at Safeway during a recent Doordash delivery. I had an alcohol order for a customer, consisting of just one bottle, and approached the self-checkout for assistance. Despite there being two self-checkout attendants present, they both appeared preoccupied with a conversation with another staff member who was restocking the shelves. Consequently, they neglected to provide the necessary assistance.
The self-checkout attendant I initially approached refused to help and directed me to a regular checkout lane, where three customers with full carts were ahead of me. This resulted in a significant delay of nearly 30 minutes before I could complete the purchase.
This experience was not only frustrating but also inefficient, as it unnecessarily delayed the delivery process and inconvenienced both the customer and myself. As a delivery driver, time is of the essence, and such delays impact our ability to provide timely and efficient service.
I urge Safeway to review their policies and procedures regarding and customer service, particularly for delivery drivers like myself. Providing prompt assistance and streamlining the checkout process for specific orders, such as alcohol deliveries, can significantly improve the overall customer experience.
I hope that Safeway takes this feedback constructively and considers implementing changes to prevent similar situations in the future. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Repeatedly watch people with carts walk out the store. Two armed security guards, locked cabinets, and all self the self checkout nonsense, but I can't walk my bicycle through the store. Literally always a show here and this is where you draw the line?! You can't keep your own product from thieves, yet expect me to leave mine unattended on the sidewalk. Always a trash location, always overpriced.

I went to the Safeway on Bailey Road to get chicken wings about 2 years ago from the deli. I was given raw chicken wings! Pink with blood coming out of it when I bit into it! Took them back with receipt and pictures, they had me fill out a complaint form and they sent it in! It took basically 2 and the half months before I got a call back and then told me, becaui got sick for better part of the next day that they would need a drs note saying I visited the dr! To give me compensation for my day of lost wages! They offered me $50 without it! Another including $20 something dollars I spent on the wings from the get go! So the really offered me about$ $25 for my troubles! i haven't been back to buy any cooked food from there since then! I give them one star because the manager was cool and so his job, but corporate crapped all over me!

I can't believe you have zero cashiers to check out customers. We are paying the highest prices at this sorry excuse for a grocery store and they want us to do their jobs. Now no checkers and prices still sky high. Can't wait for Sprouts to open. Boycotting Safeway.

Usually I go to the one in Antioch since it is close to my house. But I was in the area and I needed to get a few things, so I ended up going to this particular Safeway. I visited this store once a few years ago, so I do not remember much, but I never recalled them installing security gates at that time, so imagine my surprise when I found out they ended up installing security gates. The location in Antioch has them too. The layout is different than the other location too. The Pharmacy is at the front of the store next to the flowers, the Produce section is wide, the Butcher Counter is in the back, and there is even a Wells Fargo bank inside. The other location does not have that. I think my biggest problem is the fact that they don't announce when check stands are closing. I went to one in the Cosmetics section (which was in an enclosed area, similar to what Walmart does) as I needed to get something there. Since I was only getting a few things I decided to pay for them in the Cosmetics section. A customer in front of me told me this register was closing. I responded with "Okay, thanks!". And then I ended up going to Self Checkout. Now why didn't the person at the register told me they were closing? Anywho, I paid for my stuff, and left (after I scanned my receipt at the Checkstand). Nothing as bad as everyone else made it seem like, but it could have been better.

Naw. I'll waste my gas to go to the Ygnacio Valley store TO GET 4/5 star customer service. No I cannot give you two stars, this Safeway location. If I could I wouldn't even mark any stars. if you like being crap talked to with an attitude by the employees when you ask for help, please, by all means, shop here. otherwise, if you like being treated with at least some dignity and helpful workers, go to any other Safeway. even the Deer Valley location has way better service than this.... even today's security guard was more helpful and nice than the actual Safeway employee. (thanks, Security Guard)!

The store on Bailey Road is a pit. Getting service at the delu counter is IMPOSSIBLE. The bakery offers poor or non-existent service.

They have closed off all but one exits and made the store into a cage.Very difficult for injured, disabled, and elderly people. Especially difficult for those people, since they permanently closed the exit *by the pharmacy.*The store management has shown continuous disrespect for the customers and community for years.I am so sick of dealing with their long lines and high prices for mediocre products.I can't wait for the Sprouts to open down the road.Edit: Dear Safeway, I will try your store again when you fix it.
