I normally don’t write reviews, but after reading the recent 1-star post, I felt I needed to share what I personally witnessed during that exact appointment. I was in the salon at the same time, and the description in that review does not match what happened.
The nail technician and owner showed nothing but patience, professionalism, and kindness. At no point did they “blame” the customer. The client had chosen regular polish, which naturally takes time to fully dry, but repeatedly pressed on her nails before they were set—causing the dents herself—while insisting she had to leave for work. The staff even went so far as to offer to walk her to her car to prevent smudging them further.
I’ve been coming to Mary for 4 months, and she always spends the extra time to get the shape and finish exactly how I like them. Her work is meticulous, and I leave happy every time. Small businesses can be deeply impacted by inaccurate reviews, and I hope my first-hand account helps balance the picture. This was one of the worst nail experiences I’ve ever had. The polish was uneven, the surface had bumps and grainy texture, and the edges were messy and poorly cleaned. I kept my hands perfectly still the entire time, yet the nail tech blamed me, saying the shape and finish were “because I moved.” That is simply untrue and an excuse to cover up poor workmanship. Light colors require skill and precision, but her technique was sloppy and unprofessional. I paid full price for what should have been a professional service, but left with nails that look amateur and the added insult of being blamed for her mistakes. Completely unacceptable — I will never return and do not recommend this place to anyone.

Mary does it again! She is gentle, meticulous, and strives for perfection! I felt like venturing forth to a new spring color for a change, and she had an extraordinary selection of beautiful shades. Her technical skill is unmatched, and I couldn’t be happier! The salon is beautiful and comfortable and quiet, appointed with her orchids and gentle music. I nearly fell asleep. I was so relaxed! We are so lucky that Mary is in our community!

I am going into the New Year ecstatic because I officially can say... I HAVE FINALLY FOUND MY NAIL LADY!!!!!! I was looking for a French Ombre and have tried and tried so many places and they just don't look like how I want them to ... I found Mary on yelp and was able to get a same day appointment.. I was blown away with my nails.. Mary clearly knows what she is doing and has a passion for nails. She's also so kind and fun to talk to during your appointment. It's such a relief finally not having to jump around nail place to nail place hoping you get what you ask for!! Also, the price of nails has really gone up over the years but Mary's pricing is below competitive rate & extremely fair!!! I can't wait to have constantly pretty nails all year long! Thank you Mary for making me feel at home & providing beautiful nails & fantastic service!!!

This review is long overdue!!! Mary is hands down the most amazing and talented nail technician I've ever had in the SF Bay Area. Price is very reasonable, and she's super flexible scheduling my appointments every single time. She will stay over time to accommodate my last minute same day appointment, and she takes her time to paint and shape my nails perfectly. Every time I've been getting a lot of compliments. I can't thank her enough!!! Highly recommended ?? ??

Mary (the owner) is the kindest nail technician and always does a great job on my ombres nails! She puts her heart into every client. She’s super accommodating, always on time, and won’t even charge you for the occasional touch up like glueing a broken nail. Can’t recommend this nail salon enough!

First time doing acrylic nails and visiting this nail salon. Romi was very sweet and gave me a great gel pedicure and manicure. I showed her an inspo image and she was able to get it down perfectly. It took about 2 hours to finish the full set. She exfoliated my feet and legs and gave me a nice massage. The washes and lotions they use smell heavenly! Pricing: Gel pedicure $50 Gel acrylic mani $75 It's $10 extra for French tips Overall a very pleasant experience. I will be back- thank you for pampering me!

I just read the review from Jenny G on May 4, 2024. I just happened to be there that day. This woman comes into the shop dripping from the rain, and holds out her wet umbrella and sandals to Mary and seems to already be in a bad mood. She was asked to sit down in a chair to pick a color, which she ignored doing and continued to walk around with her wet shoes, getting water everywhere. She almost seemed like she was trying to be difficult. I was wondering if she was doing this on purpose to write a bad review?? I have been going to Mary for years, and always get compliments on my nails. The shop is always clean and she has beautiful flowers!

Romi is a great manicurist. Been Romi's client for a few years and followed her to Crystal Nails, Mary is very nice and professional. Romi does quick work and nails look natural, not thick or lumpy, and they are well shaped.

I have been coming to Mary for over a year. I love her work! She is very experienced and knowledgeable. She has seamless communication with her customers and she is always on time and polite. I really appreciate Mary! Her salon is very clean and I love coming here!

Mary sends me a text message the morning of my appointment to ask if I can come in at 10:45am instead of 11:00am. I texted her that I could try to get there as fast as I can because I had another appointment somewhere else. The first appointment ran late and it was raining cats and dogs, but I rushed out of there to get to Crystal Nails at exactly the appointment time I had booked one week in advance. When I got there they were barking orders at me to sit down, but I had to use the restroom. That's when she said I was 15 minutes late already! WTF! I'm not the confrontational type, but this rubbed me the wrong way. So, I reiterated what I had texted her and reminded her that my actual appointment time was exactly the time I got there and left! I was furious!!! The place is dingy and small. Did not get the clean and relaxing feeling, on top of the poor customer service. Taking my business elsewhere! In response to Karen K.'s attempt to invalidate my experience. I was merely standing by the gel colors to pick out the color I wanted as directed and was not ready to sit down because I had to use the restroom. Obviously I was in a bad mood because of the way they were barking at me to sit down! I'm not a dog! Karen must've gotten a free manicure for this bogus 5 star review.

The original lady (name unknown) was exceptionally rude to me on the phone and when I walked in. I had asked for one of my natural nails to be glued as it had started to tear. she laughed at me on the phone and when I walked in, she said I have no time and was very dismissive of me.
The other lady in the salon called Romi was sweet and kind and took care of me and fixed my nail.

I have never had dip nails last 3+ weeks on me...Until I came to Mary!! They look so natural and not bulky- and best of all they last! Mary is absolutely THE BEST. She pays attention to every detail and her work is seriously immaculate. Her prices are better than other salons as well and with her quality you can't beat that. Heaven sent lol! I also love how she actually cares about the integrity of your nails as well. 10/10 recommend. Bring cash though :)

I was in desperate need of a mani when my usual lady cancelled last minute. I happened to check good reviews in the area and found Mary's place. They were kind enough to take me with short notice! Romi was absolutely fantastic. She's so knowledgeable and steered me away from builder gel in favor of a new acrylic set to give my nails some time to strengthen up again. She's hysterical and we had a great time during my appt. Will definitely be returning and have found my new nail spot! Thanks Mary and Romi!
