ATM Shorted me $60.00 while the branch was open. Staff couldn't or wouldn't resolve this. Told me to use the red phone in the branch. Waited on hold for 10 minutes. They said they will investigate. Rotten customer service and worst interest rates of any bank in Benicia.

Super helpful staff and Aubrey is a great manager. We've been banking here for over 30 years and it's the best. Never a long line, always greeted with a smile and my banking handled with alacrity.

I was astounded how unprofessional they are at this bank. I had a problem and I was speaking with a teller and instead of discreetly going and speaking with someone else there were yelling across the bank about my banking problem. Like I said before I was extremely astounded at the unprofessional behavior. They also are stubborn to help people with their problems. Really bad customer service!

Nestled in the quintessential Americana town square within Benicia, CA lies the "wasteamerica" bank which claims to care about service, its customers and their satisfaction. Today I had the distinct displeasure of learning first hand just exactly what really takes top priority within the walls of this establishment and believe me, it most certainly is NOT the customer. You see, I'm just your average hard working American, born and bred, with both parents being veterans and having served during wartime. I fly my american flag and trust in our democracy. I believe in American values like freedom, justice, honesty, loyalty, truth, and goodwill above all else. I also work hard for what I have. This week a customer paid by check for a fair bit of back breaking and dangerous labor involving a couple of very tall trees, pointed and viscous appendages seeking blood, and not one but two trips to the landfill. I accepted his check because on the (prima facea) face of the printed note was the promise to pay the value written there of in cash. Nothing else is stated. No caveats. No disclaimers. Just a promise of payment for a job well done. Today after arriving minutes before their 4pm daily closing time, I learned that not only will this bank fight with customers trying to cash checks written under their bank, but that they will stoically and with expressionless deadpan faces, defend ignorant cooporate policies while pestering me for "utility bills " in ADDITION to my VALID AND CURRENT California state drivers license. I was forced to call the client who sat in disbelief as I explained that I was being sent away without my money because I did not have additional credit cards to verify my ID with. My client called me right then and there and asked to speak with the teller....who refused to take the call! My client said he's been with this bank for nearly half a century. 40 something years. He felt embarrassed that his own bank would act so deliberately offensive that he felt the need to drive here in the rain to make sure I was taken care of. Sadly the tellers ran and closed the door, locking it tight to keep him from speaking with them or from entering the bank. He was forced to use the atm to pay me instead of enjoy the customer service he's entitled to for his years of loyalty. This bank cares about their policies. It cares about being right over customers needs. It cares about obfuscating what should be a straight forward transaction for the sake of policies which should be overridden with common sense but are instead imbued with beurocratic red tape so thick that common sense flys out the window. We used to live in a land that cared about customer service. This used to be a place of thinkers and dreamers and hard workers . Now we are a land of cooporate policies that remove the humanity from the transaction and any thinking along with it. This bank sent me away even though I had a valid I'd and a promissory note written on their check form. This bank caused a customer of nearly half a decade of loyality to leave his home in the rain and forced him to interface with a machine in the wall rather than give him the dignity of a face to face exchange. I hope you read this and rethink any memberships with this horrid bank. We deserve to be treated with respect when we give our trust to a bank to carry out our wishes and make good upon the notes written under their name, regardless of letter of the law policies. As long as the spirit of the policy is preserved,... that being reasonableness and due diligence in identifying the person for whom the check is intended, that should be all that matters. Only then will the human face of the worker return to its rightful place within our systems of business and commerce. I'm ashamed and disgusted by the treatment I recieved today. This treatment should not be tolerated by the stockholders of this bank nor by its c

I've been a banking here for over 10 years. I've always loved having a small bank where i knew everyone. The staff unfortunately has had tons of turn around. Today i came in to make a cash advance on my credit card so i could then deposit it into my account. I was greeted and seen promptly. The cashier walked over to the machine and ran the card. She said my card was declined. I was confused so i decided to step aside and call my credit card company to ask them how i resolve this information. Once speaking with capital one, they instructed me to have them try it again or to enter manually. It was at that point the manager on staff at the time got onto her phone to speak with someone. She returned to tell me that she cannot manually put i the numbers. Confused, i ran that information by the capital one customer service representative. He offered to authorize their use of that type of transaction. Now I'm getting impatient with what feels like a delay on this woman's part and for which not understanding why she even became apart of my transaction with another cashier. I called West America customer service and asked if they could please help me have this branch authorize this transaction. I was told it was up to branch discretion how they choose to accept a cash advance. So even though they had the capability to run my card and accept my cash advance, this woman. This woman just decided she did not want to resolve this issue. Which then resulted in my card being ran multiple times and being locked. After all of that i decided to close my account with them and file a complaint.

I understand there are certain "restrictions" on assisting customers, but isn't everyone considered a customer or potential one? For me to yelp means I'm extremely disappointed and peeved. Working in the industry something as simple as giving $5 worth of quarters is not such a big deal. The agent refused since I didn't have an account with them. Granted it wasn't $100, but a one time service would have been a better answer. I never want to be a customer to this or any bank that has this policy. I said fine, I'll go to Chase! I asked the agent at Chase if I don't have an account would she give me $5 in quarters, she said yes buy there is a limit. Okay, I appreciated that answer. So, do the right thing as we are told in at my job. Loosing one customer may not seem a lot, but who knows it adds up and I could be a person that has a big business or money that's looking to change banks or do business with. This won't be the last place I'll post either...

I am buying a house, so I wanted to pay off my car loan that I have with this bank. I physically go to the bank to hand them a physical check and make sure the account is $0 balance. After all reassurances that my car is absolutely paid off, I wait for the title, letter or something I can show my lender that my account is paid in full (the bank said 5-10 business days I should receive a letter). 11 days later, I call the bank to find out there is $5 left on my account!! No, they will not clear it, and no they do not take payment over the phone!! So now I need to wait another 5-10 business days for them to get it together. So now my escrow is held up because of $5. The staff is incompetent and I will NEVER do business with this bank.

I was a customer of 20+ years of this bank and went to make a deposit and they informed me they closed my account without any reason to why. After 20+ years they tell me they don't have to tell me why, BUT she let it slip about cash deposits. Which are from disability withdrawals from B of A, that I take straight to my bank, because I always loved my local bank. To treat a 20+ year customer like this without a reason or a heads up about a conflict or MAYBE a resolution is the worst customer service I have EVER experienced. I received a few phone calls while I was in Europe about coming in to sign a new signature card, and received NO notification what so ever about any conflicts. I highly recommend going to any other bank. They have the fewest branches in the Bay Area and fewer ATM's.

The staff is friendly but I don't use their products. I got better deals elsewhere.
