"If you are disabled, this is not the right fit. You have to be pretty healthy to participate in our programs," we were told by a very rude receptionist. This is an ableist organization. If you were seduced by their marketing, look somewhere else, it's not real.

We were told we couldn't join because of our disability. Very rude receptionist told us "this is only for healthy people" and "if you are disabled, it's not a right fit." and hung up on us. This place is only a community for able-bodied people. Don't even call unless you want to feel nauseous.

The Notion of "Villages" is Great - too bad we lost North Oakland - but Ashby Village - is in Berkeley and Berk is oh soooooooooooooooooooo superior - I am highly accomplished and have a few advanced degrees from Stanford and else where and some 30 books in print . .with my top MS student back in late 1970's WE - she and I launched all of Silicon Corp Training . . but oh Berk is soooooooooooo superior . ..women MUST be called the "M" word . . . sooooo offensive. but the names folks at AV - who do not even sign a name - REFUSE TO USE MY EARNED TITLE. Nope, Ima :girl" and Im too uppity - so they strip me of my EARNED title in a PhD calss of 4 - no matter how many time sI say that it is offensive . . yes THAT IS THE POINT women HATE ACCOMPLISHED WOMAN - esp those in Berk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Avoid this group unless you are a mindless "Progressive" at UCB . . Go Stanford!!!!!!!!!!!!
