This branch was overly slow. I waited nearly 30 minutes to make a cash deposit and then they would not let me do it without knowing where I worked, even though I have been a customer at another branch for over 20 years. I will be moving my account after this. Insulting is an understatement. Fire them ALL

I would not recommend to bank with Bank of the West in general. Although the Oakland branch is way more friendly than Berkeley one. I opened my account in Berkeley when I arrived the US with help of my local consultant. They offer nice options for international people. But I consistently got issues with my account. Beginning of this year, I need to change my address to get my new credit card delivered to my new address. I kept calling, going to branch multiple time. Finally got my card delivered after 2 months. Recently I noticed that I got charged for monthly fee which they promised to waver in the very beginning. Now I am in the process to get it refunded. But it is difficult again, because of certain branch managers only have limited operational limit. In general, it’s not a well organized and structured bank, even like changing addresses, delivering new card, refunding monthly fee can not be done smoothly and efficiently.

Super super slow. Slowest speed I've ever experienced. Don't even have an intention to try faster

Nisha is a teller here. He is awful and has no class. I visited the bank last Friday and he made me sign a check again because he claimed my signature didn't match. Then he showed me some documents with my signatures and I showed him that one of them matches mine. Then I pointed out that he spelled my name in a way that I do not wish for it to be spelled, but he did not apologize or acknowledge that he made a mistake. Then when I left I said, "Thank you. I hope you have a great weekend!" He did not say anything in response. Today I went in and I tried to get a different teller but he was the only one. I told him I wanted to withdraw money again and I reminded him that last week he made me sign the check again because he said I didn't sign it the way he wanted. I told him that to try to avoid that problem or to try and laugh about it. He watched me sign the check and then he told me I needed to do it again! Eventually I was able to get someone else to help me. The worst part about this whole thing is that he never apologized or tried to learn and improve from the experience nor did either of his bosses there apologize for him or try and get him to learn how to deal with clients next time. Also, when I left today again I thanked them and told then that I hope they all have a great weekend. Nisha ignored me!

It took me 20 min to make 2 deposits and cash a check. Thats after waiting 10 min in line. Every transaction needs a manager approval, even when cashing a check in my own account. Very disappointed.

The people at this location are rude and racist. Especially Sara and the manager that allow people to be rude to customers with money in their accounts. Sara you need to work on your customer service because it’s trash.

Beware! Most incompetent bank ever. I have been a customer for many years. But for the last 3 or so years NOTHING I ever did with that Bank worked out. The staff or their protocol (can't tell, which is which) is just otherworldly bad. Last incident: I requested a new debit card. They charged me a fee for it. The debit card was never mailed to me. Now a fraudulent person in another state is using that new debit card and made transactions out of my account. IS THIS BANK WORKING WITH CROOKS????? Unreliable, incompetent, dishonest.

I have no complaints really. been doing my banking with them for 20+ years and I had a snafu (my fault) with my checking account last week. Ed Mohammed Omeryar was the man who calmed me down and took the steps to fix everything. I don't know if its my advancing years but I will not make the same mistakes again. Really appreciated Ed's attention and kindness throughout.

It says they're open, but they're not. Have a sign on the door "temporarily closed". No-one can be reached for info about when they'll be open again. Trying to reach customer service is basically not possible - you just get the recording telling you "due to high call volume, waiting times are longer than usual" Well, "usual" apparently means always. You can wait for an hour, and still not get through. A decent bank would inform their customers when they close branches. There is no other branch in Berkeley. Some things cannot be done online, like cash deposits.

It's a fine location but they constantly change their hours and close early.

They don’t update their hours. And no one answers the door during open hours.

My business account is here. Good people. I've been here for many years. They need more good people to serve the customers.

Be prepared for long wait times, as this branch always seems to be short on tellers. If you plan on banking during regular business hours, don’t be surprised to arrive & find them “temporary closed” when they’ve posted online that they’re open. Time wasted on the part of their customers appears to be of little concern.
