Unfortunately, Berkeley Lighting has a different ownership. The person who helped me with my shopping was an unenthusiastic young individual who needed more spark and knowledge to do the job right.I was charged a restocking fee of 25% for changing the lamp's color, and my order still needed to arrive! So I went to the store to complain, and they showed me the receipt with the new policies in fine print, as I should have checked it before buying the merchandise.I never had that experience before!

Living in Berkeley as long as I have I was surprised not to have visited this amazing lighting store sooner. They have every kind of lighting situation you can imagine and probably ones you haven't to boot.

I brought a broken chandelier into Berkeley Lighting to see if it could be repaired. Within a matter of a few days, they personally contacted the manufacturer, secured the replacement parts and expertly fixed the chandelier. While the replacement parts (it turned out) were under warranty (to which I was unaware), Berkeley Lighting performed all their labor without charge (despite my insistence). This is one of the rare business were timeless values of service and integrity are still in play. I would highly (and without hesitation) recommend Berkeley Lighting Co. for all of your lighting needs.

I needed a specific brand. Not many showrooms carry it. I sent an email to Berkeley lighting. Leila responded nearly instantly. They did have one sample of the fixtures of this specific brand. I went to visit them without an appointment. A male staff at the showroom was very helpful and professional. Leila then came to show me many different fixtures and answered all my questions. But I didn't find the finishing I was really looking for. I thanked them and walked away.Next day, to my surprise, I had an email from Leila. She told me that she ordered all the finishing samples from this particular brand. She will let me know when they arrive. I didn't even know such a thing could be done, so of course I didn't even ask about it when I visited. Unfortunately, by then I had already found what I was looking for in another showroom. I felt that if I had waited, I would have gotten a really good service from Leila. She really went above and beyond to help me to get what I wanted.I just wanted to let you know how nice, patient and diligent the staff, particularly Leila is at the Berkeley lighting.

I've found the Mike the senior lighting consultant here to be simply fantastic. Extremely informed, very thorough, reliable and prompt. He has helped me with 3 projects now for our build including recessed lighting for our kitchen, light switches/plates for the entire house and interior stair lighting. Extremely impressive.

The sockets in my 4-way vintage lamps went out & I was looking for a local place to repair them. I sent a message through yelp after hours & received a helpful reply in less than 2 hours. I brought them both in & they replaced them both in the same day. Now they work perfectly & all together it cost less than $100! Fantastic experience all around. I will definitely be bringing more of my vintage light fixtures here.

OUTSTANDING customer service.A few years ago I purchased a floor lamp from Berkeley Lighting when I lived in the East Bay. When we moved out of state about 18 months ago, our movers somehow lost the box containing the lampshade for the lamp. It wasn't a very expensive lamp, but I really liked it and was bummed out by the idea that this perfectly good lamp might end up in a landfill.I called Berkeley Lighting and spoke to Sean, hoping that perhaps they could either sell me a replacement lampshade or -- worst case -- just sell me a new lamp. He told me that the lamp was unfortunately discontinued, but that he'd search their store and see if they had any extra lampshades laying around that might work for that lamp. Long story short, he actually found one and offered to ship it to me via UPS. I asked Sean if I could pay for the lampshade and the shipping, and he wouldn't let me.You don't find customer service like that very often these days. Sean very easily could have just said "sorry - buy a new lamp" - especially since I don't even live in the same state anymore. But he didn't, and this is what sets this small business apart from all the huge, online retailers out there.

We had to make two changes to the order our architect put in for us and Berkeley Lighting could not have been less accommodating.We had to exchange lights to a bigger size because the ones we ordered don't cover the cut-out for wiring. We inadvertently lost the outer box for one of the lights, so even through everything inside was in styrofoam and untouched, the person at Berkeley Lighting would not let us exchange it for a larger size, plus we had to pay a 25% restocking fee for all three! And now we have a random outdoor light that we can't return.For the lights in the front, we wanted just a down light, not up and down. We brought them back completely unopened but again had to pay a 25% restocking fee. In the end, it cost us MORE to exchange the two lights for a cheaper version that only shines down.Given the company's unfortunate approach to customer service, that all these lights are readily available online for the same price Berkeley Lighting offers, and the online vendors allow products to be returned or exchanged for free (with free 2-day shipping instead of 2-3 week waits), we wish we had not given our business to Berkeley Lighting.

Beautiful Lighting. Great variety. Good Quality. I had a houseful of lighting to buy while renovating. My contractor suggested going to Berkeley Lighting. I bought some things elsewhere but took them back and wound up buying almost everything from "Berkeley". I did have a slight problem keeping track of the money spent due to changes in decisions but I think it was due to the nature of project.

I always use Berkeley Lighting for all my lighting needs from interior lights as well as landscape lighting. They sell quality products at reasonable prices and I love the idea of supporting local businesses. They're staff have always been extremely helpful and gracious.

I cannot imagine a store that supports and cares more for its customers. I went into buy a ceiling lamp and they were very helpful in giving me all the options—and taking the time to figure out what would work best, and later working with me when the initial selection didn’t work out. They really standby everything they sell.
