BERKELEY mini saved me the other day. I noticed a pool of transmission fluid under my car and I had to teach a final in a class in Palo Alto the following day. The technician who I talked to you on the phone gave me valuable information on whether to refill it or not, and then offered me a loaner car if I dropped off my car that afternoon. They fixed the car the following day and even did a differential oil change and rotated my tires for a very reasonable price.Thank you, Berkeley Mini, thank you you saved me!!!

I really wanted to trust this place, but my experience at Berkeley Minicar was honestly shocking. I brought my car in because it occasionally wouldn’t start. Not only did they fail to diagnose the actual issue, but the person relaying information to me clearly had no idea what he was talking about. He just read off a screen, paused forever before answering basic questions, and couldn’t explain anything beyond the price tag. The whole interaction felt off.
They told me my brakes were “1mm and unsafe” (they’re actually 6mm and 7mm), and claimed I needed a VTC actuator replaced for $2,600. None of that was true.
I took my car to another shop for a second opinion — they immediately found the real problem: a simple starter issue. They also confirmed my brakes still had about 75% life left.
Whether Berkeley Minicar is wildly incompetent or actively trying to rip people off, neither option is good. I cannot say this clearly enough: avoid this shop.

After moving further away from Berkeley Minicar years ago I regret Ted no longer having them as my primary Honda service shop for my CRV. After several bad experiences with other repair shops, I decided to come back. They first spent time downloading my 10 year Honda service history. They reviewed it carefully with me,
pointed out what needed to be done and all the items that didn’t need to be done. So my final charge was significantly less. Thank you Berkeley Honda- Christian
