I haven't gone to this place for years, ever since they refused to let me top off my son's baby carriage tire for free. It was a bit less then, now they charge $2, or $2.50 (credit card), but it's still robbery. The vast majority of stations do not charge for this.
Sadly, at that time, the air pump at the Chevron across the street was being repaired, as it has always been free and they are VERY NICE PEOPLE. NOT AT BG&S!
So, today I needed air again for my cars tire and I thought it was Chevron's machine's problem again, but it was the valve stem. Against my better judgement, I tried this place again and my tire went flat as all the air came out the stem. $2 down the toilet.
The only good thing I have to say, is that the cashier let me call home on his phone..I'd forgotten mine. However, if it weren't for a Middle Eastern customer, who translated (the cashier spoke very little English or at least pretended to), I'd still be there.
My car was not blocking anything, but he call a tow truck, even as I told him that if my car blocked anything, like a gas tanker truck he said was coming, I'd move it. I did not want to drive on the rims unless absolutely necessary. Bottom line, no tankers came and both the tow truck operator (whose time he wasted) and the guy who came to change my tire, were shocked and angry that the manager refused to be kind and understanding.
This place has been terrible for over a decade and they're clearly proud of it. They're greedy and unkind. I do not recommend them, especially in an emergency.

Avoid! Unsafe and total lack of customer service re: a crime at pump. My friend was violently mugged inside their car at this station recently. Passenger door was unlocked and mugger got laptop inside bag in seconds. After the traumatic incident, Clerk inside didn’t take any action to call police or offer help, including providing phone # at station to make contact with station owner for video. Berkeley Police eventually got video footage and is investigating.

SCAM DON’T GO!!!They said my theft deterrent plate was a modification to my car (it’s not) and because they entered it into the system my registration is an extra ~$100 each time. They aren’t supposed to service Priuses but they still do it anyway (I had a judgement filed against them). Guy that did it refused to give me a smog certificate, charged me for it, and still works there Servicing’s PriusesLook at the other recent reviews for similar bad experience
