Food was great, very well done. Fantastic location and kind servers that make you have what you need. But this place is expensive as hell, definitely geared more towards hipsters and boomers.

Ridiculously great, staff was outstanding helpful and accommodating. We had my wife's 60th birthday or like she likes to say her 45th there. It was a great location and the food was above all expectations. We had a private event and they were helpful from start to finish. This is a class act would highly recommended

My cousin and I decided to grab a quick brunch on the weekend. She likes classic breakfast dishes so I suggested checking out Oceanview Diner. The last time I was here was a decade ago when it was the iconic Bette's Oceanview Diner. The interior lives up to the namesake. It's cozy and bustling, and the decor mimics an old diner. Plenty of bar stools and retro booths to dine at plus a funky jukebox and checkered floor. Service was very kind but our food took quite some time to come out, while other customers who sat after us received their dishes. On top of that, they got both of our orders wrong and we were charged for the wrong thing. Something simple had my name, Fresh Herb Omelette. They accidentally gave me cheese, so remade it correctly. The omelette was enjoyable with herbs and a soft custard-like texture while the potatoes were average. You have the option to choose your carbs, so I chose a baguette that was buttery and tasty. My cousin had Two Eggs with Chorizo but she received sausage. We both left full, so portions were good for the price. For those seeking a classic all-American diner experience in Berkeley, Oceanview Diner is a popular choice. Located off Fourth Street, parking is metered or a free lot nearby. I wouldn't go out of my way to come again but was glad to try it.

Expect a long line. Quality brings demand. I have only done breakfast here but its very good. I split my allegiance between the great buttermilk pancakes and the Souffle pancake. Yum. A friend from Philly vouched for the authenticity of the scrapple. Really good coffee. I know, why mention it, but have you ever had breakfast ruined by crappy coffee? Its a nice cozy but loud diner type setup. Service is good. Value is good. Be sure and check out the Specials. There is always something on the list that demands a try.

Come here for all the season dishes. Coming here for years and never disappoints! Secret gem of the Bay. If you know, you know the soufflé pancakes are piece of fluffy cloud heaven. Put in your order right when you are seated! Takes a while, soooo worth every minute. My husband and I love the diner experience here. Sitting outside enjoying the sun or watching the chefs throw down in the kitchen, is truly watching creativity at work!

I recently met a friend there on a Monday morning. We had an expensive breakfast approximately $70.00. We sat for 1 hour and when our waitress asked me if I wanted more coffee the hostess came over and told her in front us to not give us anything else because was had been there 1 hour and we needed to leave. They had multiple tables outside at the counter seating and other tables free. We were 2 woman of color and I felt completely disrespected and offended. We told the manager to no avail. Yeah liberal Berkeley. I will never set foot in this restaurant again

We've always had to wait at this very popular restaurant when it was Betty's but when we came recently on a weekday morning at 10:15 we waited for an hour while we watched 5 table tops sit open. The service since it was Betty's has become pretty poor. Kind of a shame really.

Oceanview Diner is the perfect place to order from if you need to feed a group of hungry people! Thank you Will and everyone at the cafe who provided delicious deli sandwiches for our hard-working canvassers for our campaign for Jennifer Esteen for Supervisor 2024. After a long day of working for social justice in Alameda County we really appreciated the turkey, veggie and cheese sandwiches.

Oceanview Diner is a fantastic place to get breakfast! We were able to use the waitlist kiosk and get seated within 10 minutes. Service is super friendly, and there's plenty of sweet and savory options on the menu. The standout winner is the souffle pancakes though; they take a while to make, but they are so good!

Oceanview has become a favorite in the way Bette's wasn't. I can't explain why since the people who own it now are mostly the same people who worked their before, but maybe because I only go on weekdays when it's chill, it feels different. I have a few dishes that I fall back on, including the huevos rancheros and the bagel with trout salad. Good coffee. Great pancakes.

I love this place. The location is lovely, and the decor is super old school art deco diner. The food is fantastic, however they really use a lot of grease or oil when cooking the eggs and you can see a thick layer of oil on the plate when you are served. That is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. very friendly fast service too!

Recently paid a visit and ordered a typical diner fare. Although the lunch menu commence at 11 am, the wait person took my meatloaf order with potato hash. As always, they want to accommodate their diners. My meatloaf was a thick slice with plenty of gravy and exceptional potato hash that was nice and crispy. The meatloaf had a very processed texture but again with the gravy, it was a wonderful diner fare. I enjoyed it very much with the always exceptional service.

Monday noon and nearly an hour wait. Good coffee. Very mediocre pancakes. And I couldn't finish them because of the miniscule amount of maple syrup supplied. Really? $12.00 for three buttermilk pancakes, a pad of butter and a paltry amount of maple syrup. Extra syrup is $1.50 Why are the so busy? I guess no competition down there for breakfast. At least the wait staff was nice enough
