I had a friend who worked for this agency and did not like it at all. So I read the reviews before I went. I really wanted to try on some RMS products and was ready to have a bad experience. But I had a really really great experience. I was totally pampered in every way. There was a woman who helped prep my skin. She asked my name and remembered it throughout, detailing the nuances of the skincare product and was just a very kind and thoughtful person. And another person who helped me try on the exact make up I wanted. She spent as much time with me as I needed. She answered my questions and was just a very wonderful human being. She also took great care of other customers. The people who work there are mature adults and act like it. They are kind and unflappable, there was no pressure or hard selling. You can tell her they like each other and they like the products that they sell. I interacted with three staff people and I thought they all were really great. Based on this experience, I’m totally ready to go back. I’m sure if you go on a day when someone’s having a hard day, whether they be a customer or staff person, it won’t be the special experience that I had. But I do believe in the staff that are there and I look forward to doing business there.

I came in a few days ago and was immediately helped by a team member (first name starts with a “M”) who tried to help as I gave vague answers to her good questions. I was just unsure myself on how best to describe what I wanted. She brought me to Abby (or Abbie) and oh my, Abby/Abbie is amazing! She knew the products so well and found what I was looking for, despite my description limitations. Abby is a GEM and I’ll definitely be back to work with her again! Great team, great service!

First time visiting. As I walked in there was a staff member sitting as if she was waiting for the next customer to come in. I looked at her briefly and fully expected her to say hi and engage me. Instead she got up and walked away.
I looked around for about 5 to 10 minutes and no one ever tried to help me.
American retail companies need to do better about customer service if they want their bottom line to prosper.

Very well stocked cosmetics store, professional and friendly staff, and what's more, I can find my favorite cosmetics brand Jane Iredale there, it's perfect.

LOVE these girls! I would always walk past this spot as I ambled down College Ave, but never walked in until I was looking for a solid lipstick for grad pics. Abby was so friendly and not at all pushy! She helped me try on different eyeshadows, lip liners, and lipsticks, and was very receptive to feedback. Together, we found the perfect lip combo! This lune + aster "strong" lipstick is my holy grail. It smells like vanilla and is super moisturizing. The color is gorgeous and matches my skin tone perfectly, even when I'm tan or pale! Abby has a real artist's eye for undertones, and I'm blown away by her customer service. I will be returning to Berkeley soon and will purchase another lipstick and liner! I literally have not bought any beauty products since getting this lipstick because it works with everything :)

Great atmosphere and I really liked how I could sample the skin care to see how all the products applied, what they smelled like, and compare what goes best with my skin. They even offered to give me samples to take home to see how I liked them before committing, which I though was really nice. The store was fully stocked and very clean. I'd definitely say it's a BIG step up then going to Sephora or Ulta (without being a step up in price either). All of the staff was really kind and helpful too!

My last review was 2 years ago so it felt time for an update: Skincare fans: get to Blue Merc for your full-on pampering with Dr Sturm products (or other products of your choice). Big thanks to Johnny, Lisa & Smaeerah for all the attention and education on the product line. They were able to address my "hyper-special needs" skin, answer all my questions and recommend a simple routine that even I can follow. 5-star staff, service & products. I made an appt the day before for a complimentary consultation and was given the red carpet treatment. Highly recommend the "call in advance" approach even though not necessary it helps the staff prepare for your visit while you can prepare for extreme pampering! Also - there's never any pressure to make purchases and they are generous with free samples. Sephora can't get close to this level of service. I also won't miss the Bloomies counter after today's visit to Blue Mercury on College Ave.

I worked here years ago and had nothing but a bad experience. They do not care about their employees. Be smart where you shop. Thank you to my manger for nothing. I work at a great company now making actual money. And FYI, the staff sells you on BS. They do not actually know what they’re talking about.

I have consistently received outstanding customer service from the team at Bluemercury Elmwood. Each time I have gone in they have provided flawless customer support and I very much appreciate their attentiveness, availability, and kindness. The brands Bluemercury carries are top notch as is the product knowledge of the personnell. I would highly recommend this store to anyone in search of high quality products and optimal assistance.

This place has really gone downhill, which I presume is due to poor management given that the employee turnover rate seems to be rather high. I admit, I was a little short with the first employee (20ish, pretty and dark haired) who approached me. She just didn't listen. I specified that I did not want ANY pink in my blush due to the pinkness already in my skin. What did she pick up, a baby pink. I told her that it won't show up well on my skin. What did she do? Roll her eyes and walk away. The second salesperson (40ish, faded redhead) was better and had a good grasp of color theory, but was still slightly smug and seemed annoyed that I didn't want to purchase the blush. I pretty much snapped and walked out. I usually go out of my way to be friendly to salesfolks, but after a day of dealing with pushy and rude salesfolks who couldn't stow away their arrogance, presumptions and aggressive sales tactics for ONE second...whatever... I wasn't wanted. That was clear. Especially when i walked by after and one of them was ranting, staring right at me. So, I don't know if management is putting the pressure on to increase sales, which seems fairly likely, but I will never come back here again. Extremely unprofessional. And it's a bummer. I've had good experiences here. Maybe not the best MUA's. More like product junkies, which I appreciate. If anything, I've only encountered one that was experienced enough, honest enough, to take the time to try to match me to a foundation, which is not easy due to my surface redness throwing folks off, giving her honest opinion that I'm olive, and suggesting two that might work, giving me samples, with no pressure to buy... which is why I came back. I'm fairly certain she moved on to greener pastures. Good for her. Never again.

Overpriced and rude employees. They just are snobby and annoy you. Get out of my face and let me shop! I won't step foot in this store again. By the way they hiked up many prices above what other stores charge. They are a total rip off. Bad attitude mixed with high prices. Get out of here.

STILL DISCRIMINATES AGAINST DISABLED PEOPLE!! Gosh, this store has gone so downhill. They refused to mask up for disabled and immunocompromised customer so if you have cancer, enjoy going there and getting Covid! After the last horrible experience I went straight to the Sephora sale and spent all my money there instead and I'm never going back to Blue Mercury and neither should you, particularly since Abby who works there cops an attitude when you try to educate her about how deadly BA.2 and B.12.1 hour. You work at a makeup store, Abby, I study this virus because my life depends on it, and my background is in Pharma. Bye witches!!
