Had to write a review, I've been taking BodyRok since last year November 2023 and have nothing but great things to say about this location and teachers. This was my first experience into reformer Pilates, I went through ClassPass. Nitzan has been my favorite teacher thus far, she is kind and patient, gives great direction and makes the new students feel welcomed and included. Not to bash on other locations but I do feel like some try to be more elitist than others. Group workout classes are supposed to be fun, I hate walking in somewhere feeling like I can't shoot a smile at the person next to me, Berkeley does a great job at making us feel like a group. And I appreciate that! I'll continue to drive to Berkeley just for BodyRok (;

I love BodyRok and Samantha!! This is the first place I've ever tried pilates and I've fallen in love with it! I've tried other studios too (I'm going through ClassPass) and it just didn't compare. I've taken my first cycling class here too and while it's not for me, I really enjoyed it! I forgot the instructor's name... but both her and Samantha were helpful and assisted me after I communicated being a rookie. While I've found other studios to be more equipped with better amenities, the instructors at BodyRok outweigh it and better the overall experience.

I was excited to try my first class but unfortunately my experience did not live up to the hype. I informed the instructor that I was new to Pilates and had never used a reformer machine. She gave me very cursory instructions of the moves we would be doing and how to adjust the machine. These instructions did not include a single word of warning or safety precautions. There are no warning labels anywhere on the machines either. Almost immediately at the start of class, I rolled the carriage with the full pressure of the springs over my thumb when I was attempting to move it as she had shown me. When I explained what had happened at the end of class, she couldn't even offer me the ice pack I requested. I am still waiting for a response from management. They don't answer the phone or respond to emails.

This was my first time trying pilates and indefinitely STRUGGLED but got a good workout in and pushed myself to my limits. The instructor and class were very welcoming and nonjudgmental. I definitely stumbled around more than a few times in class and the instructor Brittany was helpful and provided tips if she saw I needed some help. If you’re new to Pilates and are nervous about trying it out, I 10000% recommend this place

This Pilates studio is amazing!!! If I could give BodyRok ten stars I would. The instructors are all so nice and knowledgeable, and I always feel SO good after the workouts. I also love that even though they are group classes, I can modify the moves to fit my level and needs.My physical therapist recommended Pilates reformer classes for me to improve core strength and overall stability. I have flexible joints so Pilates helps my chronic back and hip pain more than yoga. I am so grateful to have found BodyRok because I feel stronger than I ever have in my life and am motivated to continue going because the workouts are also just so much fun!

LOVE BodyRok! Delany brings the energy all the time and she's my favorite instructor. I got a great initial first deal off Groupon as Ive never tried pilates before. As an avid gym goer, pilates is totally different. Its all about the isolations and long holds - it KILLS my core like no other. There's a back parking lot and lockers to store your stuff. Everything is super clean and sanitized. Check it out!

Caroline is an awesome instructor!! She gets you pumped, motivated, and gives great instruction. The perfect trainer. I stopped going because it's a bit of a drive for me. I wish they'd open up a location closer to Hercules. They also have a very strict no show and late policy, which kinda sucks if you're already paying for the class. And if a last minute emergency happens, you'll still get charged a no show fee. Besides that, this place is awesome.

Horrible and strict place for no reason. Came in at 6:30 for my class and they wouldn't let me in because I didn't come in at 6:29. They're still going to charge me for the class even though they wouldn't let me join. Don't understand what the problem was because my space was still open. Would rate zero stars if I could

Went to my first class at BodyROK. I’ve been looking for a Pilates studio after moving to a different city. The website does clearly state that this is not a traditional Pilates class which is why I’m giving 4 stars. If you’re looking for a more traditional Pilates style I don’t think you’d necessarily like it. I love Pilates as an add on to my other sport training but this class was more of a traditional gym workout that happens to use a reformer. It was definitely challenging and great if that style is what you’re looking for. However I don’t think it offers the same cross training, mobility, and deep conditioning that traditional Pilates does. My class did not have a real warm up and ended with doing burpees on the reformer which was a whole new experience for me. All in all probably great if that’s what you’re into but don’t expect traditional Pilates (just like the website says!)

Caroline is thee absolute best!!! I attended one of her classes and LOVED it and I felt more people (my friends) needed to enjoy this too so I hosted a Pilate's Party in the Berkeley location. Baaaaaaybbbeee did she give us the best Sunday workout EVER! It was a lot of the ladies first time doing pilates and she was very conscious of that. She was kind, compassionate and knowledgable of her craft. She explained the moves in detail and even demonstrated a few during the class to make sure we were doing the moves correctly. She gave just the right amount of intensity as to give us a good workout but not scare us away. She made us the cutest charcuterie board for after the party and allowed us to workout to our playlist. She also gave us protein shakes to take with us to refuel. I definitely recommend BodyRok to everyone. She has great prices and even better packages for you to attend a variety of classes. Check the website. She has classes that focus on certain body parts if you're targeting too. Sign up! I promise you won't regret it.

I've been taking classes at BodyRok on and off since early 2019-- first in SF Mission, and then in Berkeley. This review is for two instructors that have kept my body from becoming a wet noodle: Paisley and Jason. I can always count on Paisley for a good kind of ass-kicking. She gives clear instructions and times exercises well. Her words of encouragement in the final seconds of a hold actually work -- it's like she knows the moment you're about to give up and says just the thing to keep you holding on. Jason is funny, inclusive, inventive, attentive, and warm. His cues make the most standard moves feel new. His music is always good. He drops kinesthesiology knowledge so you learn about bodies and how they work. His timing is impeccable and he never leaves you too uncomfortable for too long. He offers adjustments for all skill levels without judgment. He pays attention to each person while keeping the class going for everybody. He makes me laugh out loud.

Caroline is the most energetic instructor I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and I've done my fair share of fitness classes. I enjoyed her classes the most, esp the cycling and pilates combo classes. I also really loved Jason's pilates classes. He offered really good instruction that didn't leave me wondering what appendage goes where (those reformers have so many moving parts!). He was really knowledgeable of how to position yourself to target the right muscles. I bought the 10 class groupon and glad I did, it stretched me out for a good 2 months (that's when it expires). And the check in process was so easy once they got your Groupon info. You sign into the mind body site and pick a class. So, I live a short 5minute drive away and tbh that's not even enough to get me motivated for an 8am class. I've come to class late many times toward the end of my 10 class stint. I realize that pilates is probably a great low impact exercise, I just wish it weren't so expensive. They also have a strict policy when it comes to cancellations. You get charged $12 for a late cancellation and $15 for a no-show. One time I negotiated with them because I was feeling sick one morning. I ended up losing the class to avoid paying the $12 late cancellation fee. I lost $10 and didn't take the class but in my mind, it was better than losing $22 and risk being late next time or worse, too lazy to go. Anyway, I would highly recommend trying a class with Caroline or Jason. If you can handle a spin class, I would do the combo class. I may try another class with BodyRok in the future (probs when mask requirements are no longer mandatory-- cycling with a mask is not fun)!
