Do you like being racially profiled? Do you like getting the run around or that it feels like pulling teeth just getting information or especially to cancel a membership. You can't cancel unless they send you an email then you have to email back a request to cancel your membership. You can't just go to your account and cancel, no they have to make you beg them to cancel membership with an email, you have to beg them stop taking your money from the card you set up your account with. Does any of this sound helpful and or convenient l. No of course not because as long as you are not black or white you get the run around, you get profiled... You get the privilege of being treated like

Having put up with 4 years of a college gym, it was nice to finally move on. At $40/month for young adults, you too can experience the magic of the Y. A free weights room, tons of cardio machines, weight racks, circuit machines, a pool, cycling room, courts, and more, you can really do it all. On top of that, they have a sauna & steamroom for a calming cool down after your workout. You have to bring your own lock to use their day lockers in the locker room, otherwise they also have some digital lockers available where you make a PIN code. They also have some weekends where you can bring a guest for free and a referral program. Happy to have a nice welcoming space to get some physical activity done

I was a loyal member for years before the pandemic. My membership lapsed with the pandemic along with many others. Now I find there is no more women's weight room and the facilities have gone unisex. I went to the front desk to find why the place has become unfriendly to women. The young man explained that with many fewer members they have collapsed the services together to save money. I told him that many women, including myself, would renew if we could have privacy. I asked him, would you like to be going to the bathroom and have women walk in? He stared blankly, at a loss for words.

The staff here aren't knowledgeable. I bought a membership to swim with my son. The receptionist said open swim was available, but when we got there, the lifeguards refused to let us swim because of a class in session. Me and my son were in our bathing suits at the pool and they didn't care. The membership manager didn't care either. As I was leaving, I told him what happened and he had no response. Didn't offer to help. He said they would cancel my membership. He didn't try to fix the problem or find out what went wrong. No customer service at this Y.

Wow. The weights here are exquisite. I've never seen any weights like this before. They fit perfectly in the cusp of my hands like my hands around a warm cup of hot chocolate on December 14th at 8:41pm. There are 8 stories. If you start at the bottom you can keep walking up the stairs forever and you will never get to the top. The pool is Olympic size. The diving board grants access to an amazing view of Berkeley and North America. A lot of amazing young students there. They are learning and growing. I'm excited for the future of America

The Berkeley YMCA location was my go-to YMCA location when I wanted to work out on my work break when attending/working at the University of California, Berkeley. The building was close to campus and part of the Bay Area YMCA system, meaning my YMCA membership got me in here and at other YMCA locations in the Bay Area. I only ever walked to this location, so I did not run into any bike or vehicle parking problems. The front desk was just inside the entrance and desk workers were friendly. Towels were typically well stocked and available at the front desk upon entrance. I primarily used the cardio equipment/machines and the locker room. The walk to the women's locker room overlooked an indoor pool, however I did not utilize the pool space. Locker rooms were cleanly as was the cardio equipment space(s). The equipment functioned well, though one time I rowed so hard on the rowing machine it moved backwards across the room. So, I got to reposition the piece of equipment afterwards, for which I was thankful it was lighter weight.

Agree that things have changed. No women’s gym, no children’s space, shorter hours, $15 to bring a guest!? Pay for parking.I decided to go with City Sports (Richmond snd Berkeley): less expensive, even w 2 free guests each time, free parking. Child room in Richmond (beautiful newer facility)Down side: No classes, no sauna in Berkeley, (people go in sauna clothes & shoes on in Richmond (!!) )

Overall a good Y. The pool is excellent, although sometimes it gets a bit crowded. The men’s locker room is small but clean and feels secure. They have a good sauna but it’s a shame the steamroom is no longer operational. That’s just a waste. Cardio rooms are also very good. One negative is that some days the weight areas are overwhelmed with HS kids who hog pieces of equipment and don’t seem to understand the concept of sharing.

Going to end my membership after 15 years.-Short hours esp on Sunday at 2pm. No gym in any major city in U.S. have this kind of hours.- No steam- too many high school kids during 3-8.Will renew again if the hours change and steam room open.

Incredible amount of equipment in the weightroom. Inexpensive and there's bike parking and free wifi. (There's a bunch of other facilities as well that I haven't made a lot of use of.) What else do you want?

Finally reached my breaking point with this YMCA. They shut down the kids gym. They no longer have child care. They don't open the kids pool and have very limited hours for family swim. It's just not working for us given we pay $110/month. For what? An hour of swimming once a week at most. The math doesn't add up.

Have been a happy member for about 20 years but that has changed. What happened to women's gym? Don't mind working out with adult men but some of the high school kids are too rude, selfish, and downright dangerous to be there without mature adult supervision. Shorter hours make it more difficult to avoid the chaos and I find I'm planning my week around avoiding these kids. For the first time since I joined, I'm looking at alternatives.Very unhappy!

Great place. I only swim. Jacuzzi, sauna, locker room all good. Morning busy but makes my day so much better.

Would be a great gym if it weren’t overrun with high school kids. At peak times, the weight rooms are borderline un-useable.Also, the hours are pretty lousy for how many people use the gym. Especially on the weekends.

No more Women's Center which had a sauna and separate exercise area for women. No more separate Men & Women's toilets. No parking discount. Little or no parking. Wish my rights as a woman have not been taken away, but they have. Woke politics has ruined the facility for me.
