Expensive, yes. At the same time, any other gym is max beyond capacity. The facilities here are nice and the classes and staff are amazing.

If you are interested in lifting do not come here. There is not enough equipment or space. You have to wait a while to get in a machine.

It seems like they are actually trying to make the group fitness schedule worse. More classes were added at strange times like 2:30 on Fridays while the weekend schedule is even more limited. If you only like to work out on weekdays this is the place for you! If you want to go on the weekends options are very limited and extremely competitive to get a spot. There are TONS of poorly attended weekday classes and people are desperate for more weekend classes - especially early morning and later afternoon and there is just nothing.

I've been a member here for the last 2.5 years and it's very hard to see myself going anywhere else. The facilities are great, the sauna and showers are always nice and clean and the showers have Kiehl's products. There is usually enough workout equipment for the wait times to be pretty short. The gym has three squat racks with deadlift platforms, two flat benches, one incline bench, one decline bench, and several barbells in case the squat racks are occupied and you want to deadlift off the floor. The staff has also always been friendly and helpful. I've worked with Ian on the training staff for the last 1.5 years and seen significant strength gains (bench press 165 to 235, squat 185 to 315, deadlift 315 to 425) and a massive improvement in my body composition. The head trainer Kristi has also been a great resource for nutrition, training, and lifting technique. The only real knock on this place is they close pretty early (9:00 pm Mon-Thurs, 8:00 pm Fri, 6:00 pm Sat-Sun).

Honestly, it is the cleanest and probably the best gym that I have ever seen. It's quite crazy because I don't work out ☠️☠️

One word. Mold. There is mold in the showers. My friends and I spoke to the manager Corri about this who just gaslighted us the entire time and essentially encouraged us to stop using the showers and never mention anything to anyone. Not only is this woman a horrible vile and sad piece of filth. This place needs to get shut down by the health department

Garbage, they like creepy judges tho, so if sexual harassment is your thing you have a home here.

While I would have confidence in all the coaches at the Berkeley Equinox, I can personally vouch for Gal Paz, the personal trainer assigned to me in July of last year. From our first session to the present, Gal has been helping me which body strength, cardio, nutrition, balance, and mind-body muscle connection, and all those training elements are helping me achieve my workout goals. Always being the professional, Gal also possesses a keen sense of humor which makes working with him a pleasure and a privilege.

You'll get a membership here because you're a young professional or student who doesn't want to go to the RSF. You'll notice in the first couple weeks that there's unidentified black gunk all over the barbells, half the treadmills are missing cupholders for some reason, and there's a small army of personal trainers who are constantly loudly talking to each other and taking up space. You'll wonder why you still come here, and then you'll remember that it is unfortunately one of the better options in Berkeley for a gym. If you have been to clubs in NY, this Equinox location is kind of a joke. No amenities whatsoever, you're basically paying to listen to the crass jokes of personal trainers all day. I saw one of them try to fight some guy the other day, no joke.

This Review is for my Personal Training experience with Aristotle Daphnis. I have complete trust in Aristotle. His instincts and wealth of knowledge create a safe container for me to push beyond my fears and step outside my comfort zone. Matching my commitment, he has lead me to regain strength and mobility that I once thought was unattainable post-injury. With his help, the support from my doctors, PEMA therapy, and a healthy lifestyle; I’ve reached this next stage of recovery, free from mobility setbacks, and a renewed focus on my potential.10 out of 10 recommend working with him.The Club and Community are great as well.

I am currently a member at a different location. I was pondering upgrading my membership to include Berkeley. I was told I'd have to pay $45 dollars to check out the facility to see if I was interested in doing the upgrade. Wow! Just wow. I didn't even want to workout. I just wanted to walk around to see if I like the facility.

Started coming to equinox a few months ago and have really enjoyed it. I have been training with Gal and he has been amazing, I am stronger than I have ever been and truly enjoy my sessions with him every time. I recommend equinox, Gal and all the staff are amazing and it is the cleanest gym I have been to. Stop by to check it out and get some sessions with Gal!

Clean and gets the job done, but a little small and gets pretty crowded easily. There’s not a lot of open spaces for working out either. I usually bite the bullet and drive another 10-15 minutes to San Ramon for a better experience. Generally speaking, I wish they’d change their weekend hours - most ofThe NorCal locations close at 6pm! Please consider closing at 7pm like the Palo Alto location. An hour would make a difference on the weekends.
