Gentrified store with unreasonable prices

My recent visit to Franklin Market left me with such an awful feeling that I am vowing to never return. I encountered an astonishingly rude behavior from the little man behind the counter. I had simply asked a harmless question about a bag of chips, wanting to know if I could take one from a box. Instead of getting a yes or no response I was yelled at.
This reaction was unexpected and uncalled for. In hindsight I’m frustrated with myself for still making a purchase despite the negative encounter. This was definitely my mistake.
What makes this situation particularly disheartening is that I genuinely liked visiting Franklin Market. However this incident has made it clear that my patronage is not valued. Therefore I promise I will never set foot in there again. Franklin Market has lost a loyal customer, and I will for sure take my business elsewhere.

the best convenient store I've been to. it's just perfect! they even grounded up the coffee for me! Prices are competitive to Whole Foods. Selection is hand-picked. Best of all, they serve the low-income folks by accepting EBT!

Only stopped by for my first Too Good To Go. Got a ceasars chicken salad and 2 rolls. Salad looks good, bread was super hard.

local grocery across the street from a low income apartment that exists because of tax payer grants and government subsidies -- more expensive than Whole Foods: Small Yerba matte, ONE lemon, sprig of dill, and smallest plain cream cheese: $14.78. And it's not inflation it's been like that since the beginning. Under the auspices of Fixing the food desert problem using a pocket of low income folks to serve wealthy liberals who don't want to drive. Shame

Have you ever wished your local Bodega had more craft beer and organic sundries? This quaint little corner store is bountifully stoked to the brim with super good food. Although the after-school rush can get a little busy, the store is otherwise really easy to navigate, and you grab any quick thing you might need and avoid the long lines at Berkeley bowl. The staff are incredibly friendly and have an insider's knowledge on most of the foods they carry, often suggesting the absolute perfect accoutrement to any purchase. Parking is typically available. Also, don't pass on their soup or sandwiches... they always hit the spot.

This little corner store really packs a ton of variety that you wouldn't think would be in such a small shop. You can find fresh (and really great quality) produce, Acme bread, cheeses, spices, baking goods, kombucha, and even more. They also sell sandwiches, pastries, and premade sushi rolls. There's street parking, however, the four way intersection is a little weird because you're unable to turn all four ways. The service is really nice here too. All the employees here are more than happy to help you if you're looking for something in particular.

Small neighborhood grocery story with a fantastic mix of corner store staples and fancy extras. Whether you need a nice bottle of wine or a 40, a jug of milk or a carton of oat milk, a box of dishwasher detergent or a jar of pesto, they have you covered. Plus, the staff are just delightful.

This is such a cool little corner Bodega! It's clean, has lots of pre-packaged and fresh food and make good sandwiches and soup for lunch time. Yes, a bit pricey but it's a convenience market and I always enjoy the friendly staff. And ice cream bars. Lots of them. I can get just one or two if I can't decide!

It's a great place with a huge produce section. The people who work there are the most friendly out of any store I'd ever been. You'll be satisfied.

Great corner store with an impressive selection of groceries. Lots of "gourmet", organic, or locally-produced items, including Acme bread. They also have a small deli with house made sandwiches/soup/salads. They offer online ordering - you can pick up, or have Doordash deliver to you. The staff is friendly.Definitely one of the hidden gems off the beaten path in West Berkeley - worth a trip if you're local.
