I could never get a rental from this place even when my insurance company sent me there to pick up a rental. I never got the rental, I was told they didn't have a car for me at the time and to come back the next day i returned to pickup the rental the next day and I still didn't get the car the wait is very long, I will never go there again this place is inconvenient and i feel like they help who they want to help.

Received a electric car, came with less than 60% charged said it could go 160 miles cruised 80 miles with only 10 miles before I had to charge, navigating took me to a non charging compatible station found next closest station had to wait over a hour only one was working took two hours to get 60% waisting 4 hours to get a charge was told that being a over a hour late I would have to pay another day at almost twice the original cost of rental,

Hertz helped me out in a pinch. I rented a truck for a low price w no problems . Would definitely rent from them in future

Just realized that they charged me $25 per day for underage charges. When they definitely see my driving license stated I am more than 30 years old. Also the staffs there are quite rude and unfriendly with international student like me. I have been submitted the complain through the apps, but no response.

I had an extremely disappointing experience with a Hertz representative named Chris over the phone. His tone throughout the call was dismissive and unprofessional, showing little interest in actually helping me with my concern. Instead of providing clear answers or courteous assistance, he made the interaction unnecessarily unpleasant.
What really sealed my impression was that, after I thanked him at the end of the call, his only response was a sarcastic, dismissive “aha.” This level of customer service is unacceptable for a company of Hertz’s reputation. Representatives should be trained to treat every customer with respect, patience, and professionalism — qualities that Chris completely lacked in this interaction.
If this is the standard of service Hertz finds acceptable, it reflects very poorly on the company as a whole. I strongly urge management to address this behavior so future customers do not have to experience the same lack of courtesy.

Got a car yesterday car is squeaky while driving. The manager(some lady) pretty much gave me a couple options and doesn’t even have a car for me trade. I asked for her manager. She doesn’t want to give out that information. She proceeds to hang up the phone and has stopped answering the phone. I can’t even get a hold of the hertz that I got the rental through. Worst experience I’ve had renting a vehicle. Whoever is doing the maintenance on these vehicles is not doing them properly They didn’t even check to make sure car was working properly. But proceeding to rent me out the vehicle and is putting all of the maintenance hassle on me. I just got the vehicle yesterday! It is not my job to maintenance your vehicle one day after receiving the vehicle and then tell me that I’m still getting charged for the vehicle while in maintenance. This is not right and this manager was telling me. “ I’m going to tell you one last time” threatening to hang up the phone. They need somebody else to check this location out. Because the “manager” here is very unprofessional. I still need help to speak to someone and don’t know what to do next.

The staff were really kind and professional here. I had forgotten to fill up the tank and they let me go do it even though I was a few minutes past the return time.

I I’ve never given a 1-star review before, but this place truly deserves zero stars — if that were possible, I would give it without hesitation. The customer service was absolutely terrible — by far the worst experience I’ve ever had. I genuinely feel sorry for any company that hires employees like the ones I dealt with here. It makes me wonder how long they’ll even stay in business. From now on, I’ll be using Uber everywhere instead of ever dealing with this kind of service again.

We had a fantastic experience with Hertz today Saturday! The staff member who helped us was amazing—extremely helpful, kind, and professional. He made the entire rental process smooth and stress-free. It’s rare to come across such genuinely great customer service. We truly appreciate his effort and attitude. Thank you for making our day easier!

They can't honor my reservation and wants to me to pay more money for a bigger car cause that's all that they had rather than honor the reservation for the same price. Customer service was even more abysmal, they couldn't get a supervisor on the phone or even agree with the pricing of the rental that I can pull up on my reservation on their site, but the representing is saying it's 100 dollars more, then eventually proceeding to hanf up on me.

Horrible service even with President’s Circle status. We were having issues with a car that we got from the San Francisco airport - the USB port kept working then not working and there was something hanging from underneath the car. We were taking a long road trip up the coast so didn’t feel comfortable using it in case something was very wrong with it. We decided to stop at this location to exchange it.
At first they said they could put us in a different car and pointed to the one that was available. Then they checked the car and the usb port was randomly working again which was fine but our real concern was the piece hanging from under the car. They looked under and said it was fine because it was just the cover. Okay but if it falls off while we’re driving then what? That’s a serious safety hazard but they didn’t show any concern at all. I said I still wanted to exchange the car then all of a sudden the story changed and they said they can’t exchange cars there and we would have to take it back to SFO. I said I was willing to pay for a new reservation and they said they don’t have any cars available. But when we first got there you said that there was a car we could use? I pointed that out and they said the car was reserved. Interesting.
Irritated and frustrated we left there and called the hertz main line to tell them the situation. They told us that we can exchange a car at any hertz location and he has no idea why this location said we couldn’t. We ended up going to the location in San Rafael and they were so nice and exchanged the car with no issues. The San Rafael location really saved the start of our road trip, avoid this location in Berkeley. I noticed another review for the Berkeley location mentioned race being a factor, I’m not sure if that was the case in my situation but something to take note of.

I was told the car was full tank, but it was 3/4 and I didn't notice it until after I left from this shop. I may have driven less than 100 miles, but to refill the tank, it took 7+ gallons of gas. And then its California, where each gallons is $5.5 so 🤷..🙂

I rented a car from here and my car broke down the next day. I brought the car back. They don't change the car. I don't know what to do and I don't recommend it at all. Really don't come here. It's not a place to recommend. If your car breaks down, rent another car and start paying its rent too.

I had a terrible experience with this rental. I returned the car with a full tank of gas, yet they still charged me for fuel. I reported the issue, but despite my efforts, I never received a refund. This is completely unacceptable. Poor customer service and dishonest business practices—definitely the worst place to rent a car. Avoid at all costs!
