“I have been an electric wheelchair user since 1979. I've never had such pleasant experience dealing with a wheelchair repair shop as I have had with Independent Life in Berkeley. They contacted me after an airline damaged my chair as they handle airline repairs. The wheelchair technician came to my house to pick up the chair, repaired the damage and brought it back a couple of hours later. They were all so easy to deal with and took care of all of the billing and other arrangements. Right now I use them for as many repairs as I can. They always come exactly when they say they will and often deliver my chair back sooner than they say. Very professional and extremely easy to deal. Every time I call, I immediately reach the receptionist who is knowledgeable about all things going on in the shop. If she is unsure, she finds healthy answer calls me right back. I couldn't recommend them more. Ian Francis is the main tech and he is so knowledgeable and a pleasure to deal with. “Just had a chair lift installed to help with mobility issues. Everyone with whom I dealt was great. The installation guys were very professional and did a wonderful installation which was complicated by several turns on the stairway. Post-installation follow-up was also perfect. Mark Feinman and Nassem were both wonderful. This is actually our 2nd lift from them as they installed one in our SF condo years ago. I highly recommend them and would use them again in a minute should we need a third lift.”

The people mentioning very high, overflowing shelves are not wrong).But Johnston Medical Supply has a really good selection of medical supplies. The people are entirely competent and unfussy. I have been there a few times with my elderly parents, and they’ve been there without me, and every time we’ve had good, fast help once it’s our turn, and come away with just the right equipment.”
