The Recreational Sports Facility at UC Berkeley is the university's largest fitness center, offering over 100,000 square feet of space for a variety of activities. It features an Olympic-sized swimming pool, three weight rooms, seven basketball courts, racquetball and handball courts, squash courts, and equipment such as treadmills, ellipticals, stairmasters, rowing machines, and stationary bikes. There are also designated areas for volleyball, badminton, group exercise classes, martial arts, and table tennis, providing many options for users. The building itself is large and well-maintained, with many hardwood courts and a wide range of equipment that is generally in good shape. The facility's size offers plenty of space to exercise, and the staff is friendly and keeps the gym clean. However, users often find it very crowded, especially during peak hours, which leads to long waits for basketball games and crammed weight rooms. The weight rooms are considered too small for the number of users, with limited equipment and some outdated machines, including worn-down dumbbells and barbells, and a lack of dedicated ab machines and leg equipment. Additionally, some space designated for activities like ping-pong is used for other purposes, such as extra courts, which reduces availability for activities like basketball. Management has faced criticism for poor space allocation decisions and strict enforcement of rules, sometimes at the expense of user experience. An incident involved staff confiscating a student's ID after an honest mistake, highlighting issues with customer service approach. Despite these concerns, many appreciate the variety of equipment and the large, clean environment. Overall, the RSF is a well-equipped facility that could improve in managing crowds and updating equipment to better serve its users.
They have a passport office which has very helpful staff that help you figure it all out regardless of your circumstances.

The RSF is quite crowded at all times, and in comparison to other UC universities of smaller or comparable sizes is much more cramped and less sprawling. If you pick your hours strategically, however, you can avoid the rush pretty easily.

For all the whiny pansies that think nice gyms make nice bodies, go elsewhere. For those who paid to earn it, got certified, and took matters into their own hands? Well, this place doesnt dissapoint. Love it or hate it. I love it.
