  Stopped by to get some jeans for my wife’s new job. She wasn’t sure of her size, or what she wanted - really annoying customer! But Marissa upstairs and the folks downstairs helped her walk away with two pairs she wont stop gushing over. Def will be recommending to friends and family in the area!

  I walked in and told the woman helping me my girlfriend had told me my jeans were too baggy. She looked me up and down and then said “low numbers or high numbers?” - I didn’t know what she meant, and she explained she was referring to the Levi’s style numbering. I shrugged and replied either. Took her about 60 seconds to pull three pairs out of the stacks, I tried them on, and they all fit perfectly. Swiped my card was out of there 10 minutes later. A beautiful power shopping experience, lol. That’s the way I like to roll.
  
  Only issue is the micro sized dressing cubby “room” in the back, although it was manageable (this was downstairs mind you, I didn’t go upstairs).
  
  Definitely will go back the next time I need a pair !

  This place is weird. They don't want you to just browse, they want you to tell them your size and they pick stuff out for you. They also have a tip option when you check out. So it's more like full service I guess. Also they tell you to never wash your denim which is gross.

  Love this place! I was the only customer there and Carla and Emma went above and beyond to help find me the right fit and in lots of different wash options. Bought 3 pairs of jeans. I’ll be back!

  The only reason for a lost star was due to the tone and treatment of the employee working the register upstairs. She was a fair skinned middle aged woman in an Oakland t-shirt and bamboo earrings. She treated my sister as if she was an idiot “man-splaining” the clothing. She didn’t let her look through the racks which is policy and makes sense but didn’t treat the only other customer with the same rules. He happened to be a white gentleman, me and my sister are African American women. The way she serviced my sister made me very uncomfortable as if we were doing something wrong by shopping there. The saleswoman named Bri I believe downstairs was incredible. She made me feel so safe and excited to buy things!! She was super helpful and informative without being condescending. I will not be visiting the upstairs part again as long as she’s working there. Unfortunate because I’ve met the owners and they are so sweet.

  I cannot say enough good things about Slash and their employees! Drove past and taking a quick glance at their outdoor selection I decided to stop and check it out. I have heard of Slash in the past but never visited the store myself. The employees were so nice and helpful, sized me and let my partner and I try on a bunch of pairs of pants and overalls. Left with about $250 worth of clothes. They were all really well priced, like almost better priced than retail, which is rare for Berkeley vintage stores. Thank you so much Slash you are my newest favorite store and I will be back every time I get an itch for some cool vintage clothes.

  I have been shopping here since the late 1980’s never fail at finding awesome vintage jeans and pants. Always helpful staff when I needed sizing and was looking for something specific. Somedays my whole outfit was purchased there!

  Can’t say enough good things about this place. i used to live in the neighborhood, returned there after a few years away, and had the chance to work with a staff there named Marissa who is super kind and knowledgeable. I got lucky that I was there on a day where she wasn’t totally slammed, and I had the chance to pick her brain about so many different aspects of denim that I hadn’t understood. They have a lot of sizes, she was super responsive but not pushy, best experience I’ve had in a long time buying clothes. Can’t recommend this place enough

  I wanted to take a moment to share my experience at this wonderful magical location. I walked in, hoping to find a pair of jeans, not knowing what I wanted because the selection is so vast and incredible. I look down at the pile of jeans next to me, pants all around, and what do I see first? a black pair of corduroys? I picked them up, no they could not fit. They are too small, I thought. I ask my friend, She says yes maybe they will. I say perhaps hesitantly, we all know what it’s like to try on jeans.., but what do you know but they fit perfectly! absolutely perfectly. if I had them fitted, they wouldn’t have fit more perfectly, open your heart open your mind go to this magical place and see what you find.   I was looking at some of the reviews and I just have to say that silly or negative reviews without facts can really shut down a business and you need to check yourself before you wreck yourself and just give them a call if you have any issues before you write a public review that could potentially destroy a small local business.

  This is definitely the place to get personalized help getting the right fit for jeans - both new and vintage. The staff really knows their denim and are super knowledgeable and took the time to answer all my questions. They also made some really good suggestions of other jeans and sizes to try. I will be back!
