The Black Squirrel is an independent, woman-owned yarn shop. It is a bright and open space with a giant selection of carefully curated items. The shop specializes in indie-dyed yarns from US-based, woman-owned, small-batch dyers. It offers a large selection of non-superwash, luxury, and budget friendly yarns, including bright and colorful ones, wool, and fiber. It also has possibly the largest selection of notions and accessories in the Bay Area. There is a cozy sit and knit area, and the service is warm, helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. The staff is nice, very welcoming, and always willing to help. The main objective is to encourage creativity in the community, making the shop an asset to any knitter.

I love coming in here. The people there are always willing to help figure out what you need, the weekly gatherings are a wonderful place to meet new friends and craft together.
