Best wine shop in Beverly Hills, with a large selection of exclusive wines ?. The service was courteous and left no questions unanswered. All I can say is that a visit here is always worth it. I only buy my wines ??? here.

If you follow me, you know that I am not much of a consumer of alcohol. However, I have friends who are collectors and so I have come to know a couple of excellent sources of fine wines and spirits when I am looking for something special. There are now three resources that I turn to first (and have reviewed here on my Yelp site). They are all quite distinct and offer very different in-store experiences. The way I found The Wine Merchant was when I was on the hunt for a special vintage of Kosta Browne. I literally spent two weeks searching for it until I stumbled upon TWM. Others have shown extensive pictures of it and frankly I didn't feel it was appropriate to snap photos in this particular store. First of all, its location in beautiful downtown BH. Second, the vibe inside is pure elegance and affluence. This is not why I chose it, it was simply pragmatic because no one else anywhere had this particular bottle that I wanted to gift to some friends. They had been my guests at a very tony LA restaurant and they brought a costly bottle of KB with them. Literally three feet from our table, their wine bag broke and the golden Kosta Browne slid across the polished floors like a soft ocean wave, while we all looked on in horror. I wanted to salve the wounds by getting the same bottle for them. When we entered the store, despite our being dressed in everyday garb, Rita welcomed us like long lost relatives, while still maintaining her aristocratic air. We told her what we wanted, she checked stock, and brought out three different vintages. We selected one, paid the same price we would have paid anywhere else (because I educated myself on what I should expect), put it in a bag and that was that. We were able to wander around the store, admiring, while all this was taking place. Now it is one of my main local sources (I have two others, one in NYC and one in San Francisco, which I have reviewed here too) for the finest bottle of anything I might want to bring as a gift. I also collect liqueurs and digestives, mostly for making syrups, and like my other preferred vendors, Beverly Hills Wine Merchants carries all the best. I don't know why other people had any other experience here, but we were impressed with how open and easy the entire transaction was. Give it a try.

Bought a bottle of Domaine Blain-Gagnard Volnay 2020....Gotta say deep purple color and taste was more like syrah? Not a great burgundy. Last vintage this bottle was about one quarter the price, what's up with that?

Just have to say it! How are you located in Beverly Hills in the middle of a tourist area/ high-endshopping etc. and closed on Sunday? It’s kind of like retail 101-even high-end… Be open when people are shopping. Why wouldn’t you close on Monday instead (or even Tuesday?). It just doesn’t make any sense! I was staying at the four seasons Beverly Wilshire and went to find a bottle of wine only to find that they were closed on a Sunday. Huge disappointment. And just goes against all common sense.

It is regarded as one of the world's best wine stores. If you don't have time to visit the winery, you should browse the wine store instead. Please contact us if you have any questions! It even has a glowing recommendation!

It was my first time ordering from this wine shop, and it was well worth it. The waiter was very nice, decent, and attentive to me. Moreover, the beers and champagne that I ordered were excellent and impressive. Everything in your shop appeals to me. It was nice and a wonderful place to visit. Thank you very much!

It's a big wine store, I like it! The wine is well arranged by the area of the country, which is super good, and all the prices are excellent! You will get delicious wine at a very affordable price. Plus, all the workers here are very nice and informative about the goods. It's a must-see wine store!

I usually don't post reviews, but my experience at "The Wine Merchant" was so terrible that I feel I must comment. We live 2½ hours away from "The Wine Merchant" in Beverly Hills and for some time had wanted to visit the store and make a special purchase. I've been interested in specialty wines and champagnes for some time, and had been looking forward to getting something special for my dad's birthday. I called a week before and 2 days before our visit to make sure that no appointment was needed. A nice gentleman named Jason said it was not and to just ring the bell when we arrived. On Wed. Dec 16th, we arrived and Jason invited us in. He gave us a quick tour, and told us to take our time and have a look around while he finished up an order. No other customers were in the store, just my mother and I. After about 5 minutes a lady entered the store and appeared to be picking up an order. At that time a woman, who I later found out to be the owner, Rita Barsoumian, appeared and asked if we needed help. I replied that we wanted to look for a bit before deciding on our purchase. She essentially threw my mother and I out of the store stating that there was someone else at the other end of the store and due to Covid-19 we couldn't be there to look; we had to buy immediately or leave! We couldn't believe we heard right, so we asked if she was requesting us to leave, and she said yes. As we exited the store, the one lady who had been at the front had already collected her order and left the store, leaving it empty of customers.I can't describe how insulted and disrespected we felt. We left the store in a state of disbelief and shock. We were still in need of a gift for my father, so we walked a couple of blocks up up the street to Wally's, a beautiful and extensive wine and gourmet food shop. What a difference in attitude. They were very welcoming and happy to have us come in. After about 5 minutes of looking around I selected a $400 bottle of champagne. The salesperson, Alberto, was happy to go in the back to get a fresh bottle and we were on our way. Obviously, we will never go back to "The Wine Merchant" and our business will go to Wally's where there customers are valued and appreciated. Shame on Rita Barsoumian and her lack of respect for people. She should realize hers is not the only wine shop in the area.
