“Truly a special space for anyone who loves crystals, rocks, stones, etc. Right when I walked in I was greeted by a very kind employee who gave me "the lay of the land" for the shop. They openly invite all guests to really explore all of the rocks, to take pictures, to ask questions, etc. I don't think this kind of greeting is necessary for all retail establishments, but in a crystal shop, it was actually very appreciated and put me immediately at ease. I've visited so many rock/crystal shops that are very opposed to these things, so it was a treat to be in a store that is so welcoming and kind to its customers. There are several different spaces in the shop. A room dedicated to dinosaurs, and a room dedicated to metaphysical items. Outside of those small rooms, the space is filled with tables and cases of rocks in all shapes and sizes. Tumbled, polished, raw...even uncut geodes! Jewelry, palm stones, pendulums. The selection was extraordinary. I also appreciated the wide range of price-points, which made the shop affordable for pretty much any budget. Located off of Big Bear Boulevard but outside of The Village, this place is tucked back behind another establishment. I pulled up the address on my phone and it navigated me properly. I appreciated the free parking and the slower pace of this shop, as opposed to the super busy places in The Village. Will absolutely be back again!”

“My friend and I went in together to get 1 piercing (a vertical labret and an eyebrow piercing) each and it was an awesome experience. From the moment we stepped in, Sophia made us feel welcomed and comfortable and Mike's years of experience is clearly shown through his work. He made sure we were satisfied with the placement of our piercings, and was gentle and quick. They both very clearly care about their customers and making sure they are satisfied with their experience. And they both are just awesome people! I would highly recommend anyone going to Monkeyshines.”

“Had a great visit meeting Nancy who is both the chocolate artisan and jewerly guru. So far I've only tasted the crispy PB chocolate which is divine- like a high end reeses but crispy and flaky like a butterfinger- elevating both! I am not big on jewelry but I really liked a lot of the pieces she had. They were simple elegant and unique.”

“James is a really great jeweler, but also a really nice man. I came in with a handful of repair jewelry. I had an old turquoise ring my Grandfather had made in the 70's, which was one of my pieces in need of repair. He made fast work of all of my items. I was thrilled! Unfortunately, a week later the turquoise stone fell out yet again, fortunately into my pocket! I went back to ask if it had a second chance. James said he could try some experiments and try to fix it again at no charge which was nice but unnecessary. Sure enough in a couple weeks I got a call and returned to pick up my ring. Now, my Grandfather was a true artisan. He built homes, furniture, clocks, farm fences and gates, chests, bread boxes and many other items. He also made jewelry in the 70's. He might have not been the most insightful stone setter seeing how he had his hands in so many other arenas, so I was just glad to see the ring back in action. James knew what to do, he is certainly the more seasoned jeweler. He fixed it. I'm soooooo happy! Thanks James! I love seeing this ring on my finger!”

“Great little shop! 20ish different tiny shops all in one location. They have a ton of variety from clothes, trinkets, decor, sports memorabilia, knives, toys, etc. You won't find anything high end but it's a great spot to let the kids explore a bit and find something for cheap. I've bought from here several times (snacks/treats), sports team socks for my son and mother in law, an insulated mug, a cool handmade coffee cup, etc. Love to support local business and this is a great hidden gem in the village.”

“Cool little souvenirs store. The shop doesn’t have as much variety as the other stores but the quality is good and prices are at least $10 cheaper on the sweaters vs. the other stores. Great customer service and friendly staff. Your spot for affordable gifts and souvenirs when you are in Big Bear. My sweater was $29.99 vs. $39.99 or $44.99 at other stores in the village.”
